Is anyone going to Sri Lanka in February?

My friend and I are travelling to Sri Lanka on 4th February for the Discover Sri lanka trip. Is there anyone on this forum who will be joining us? It would be nice to chat before we meet at the airport.

Helen xx

Hi Helen.

You'e not the only one on the trip!

You won't see me on the flight as I was a late booker and the price for the group flight was ludicrous by that time so I'll meet everyone at the hotel. I'll be the one taking a ludicrous number of photos.

The itinerary for the trip looks amazing. Sadly my knees won't cope with Adams Peak.

See you on 5th Feb.

Hi Gareth. Good to hear from you. I think there are supposed to be around 10 of us in the group. Are you planning to post a photo, or will I recognise you By the camera and knee supports? 😬

My friend Anne will give you a run for your money on the number of photo she takes, by the way...

OK I'll find a photo and upload it soon. (And my knee isn't that bad!).

Hello , I'm on the trip too. Looks like there will  be 2 Anns! I'm without an 'e'.

Looking forward to meeting you in a few weeks.

Hi Ann. Good to hear from you. Are you travelling from Heathrow?  it would be good if you can post a photo so we can start putting names to faces.

Anne (with an ’e’) where is yours girlie?

Gareth, it sounds like Adams Peak gets very busy at sunrise so you might have made a good choice.

See you you soon guys. Not long now 😊

However im rubbish at uploading so my appearance shall remain a surprise!

I'm collecting some educational bits, paper, pencils, toys etc to give to the local children. Exodus have said there'll be an opportunity to visit a local school and pass it on.

Sounds like a good plan. Anne and I were discussing that very topic today. Thank you for the heads up x

Hi Helen and Anne. Welcome Ann.

Photo uploaded as instructed.

I've only chosen not to climb Adams Peak because my knees would struggle to cope. I used to be a very strong mountain walker.

As for educational materials, on a trip to Cambodia we had a collection around the group and got a local guide to buy materials in a local market. Some of the things he bought were a surprise (like flip-flops so that the children could actually get to the school) but seemed to fit the needs of the local school very well.

Roll on the 5th of February.

Hi Gareth! Nice to have a face to fit to the name. I think I would class myself as more of a reluctant trudger up mountains than a strong mountain walker.  Love the view at the top, but consider the journey as character building rather than necessarily enjoyable 😂.

Re the gifts, that sounds really sensible. Our guide will 100% know better than us what is needed. Good plan.

See you on the 5th. Our holiday begins on 4th at Heathrow. Let the escape from work begin!

Nearly there! Looking forward to meeting you all on Wednesday. Hope the journey goes well.
