Late getaways departing in April

It’s official – spring has sprung, and so have our adventures. Warmer temperatures and longer days offer more opportunities for adventure. And we’ve rounded up the best collection of trips for a last-minute getaway this April, so you can see bougainvillaea and poppies come into bloom in Greece or head further afield to spot tropical birds in Costa Rica.

April offers exciting options for trekkers. Travelling to Greece this month may still be considered off-season, but you will get the benefits of milder temperatures, fewer crowds and trails filled with colourful wildflowers of poppies and anemones on our Walking on the Greek Islands trip. Or head further afield to Nepal in the dry season on our Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lakes Circuit, to enjoy rhododendrons blooming against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks and pray flags.

During this month, you’ll enjoy ideal temperatures for cycling as you make your way through Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia’s historical cities and breathtaking national parks. For wildlife lovers, late April is one of the prime times to go on our Bulgaria: Realm of the Brown Bear trip. At this time, these bears are just emerging from hibernation, to forage for food making the chances of sightings higher. If you’re lucky, you may also get to see their cubs too. Or head somewhere tropical, like the rainforests on our Natural Highlights of Costa Rica to catch the tail end of the dry season. This is a great time for bird-watching due to less rainfall, making resplendent quetzals, scarlet macaws and the rufous-tailed hummingbird easier to spot.
