Outstanding scenery and hiking in truly stunning US National Parks

5 National Parks, each with something different to offer, but all share magnificent natural beauty. Our leader Jeff was also outstanding and his knowledge of not only each park, but the US in general and it’s nature and history added to the whole experience. Jeff was able to get us away from the crowds (walk more than half a mile from car parks and suddenly you feel you have escaped the crowds and your experience changes for the better). Going in early September was perfect as it was glorious weather. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets, both easy walks and more challenging walks and a memorable barbecue under the stars, with our Navajo guide, in the less visited areas of Monument Valley with its glorious red rocks and silence as you’re far away from people and traffic. Returning to the brashness and noise of Las Vegas at the end of the trip to fly home was a shock to the senses and made you appreciate the sense of escape you have on the National Park treks even more!

Most Inspirational Moment

Barbecue under the stars in a more remote part of Monument Valley with our Navajo guide.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jeff was absolutely outstanding. His leadership, energy levels, can-do attitude, knowledge, humour and nothing is too much trouble attitude were first class. He drove us everywhere, was our guide everywhere except Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon (guides can’t accompany you), explained clearly what would happen each day and how long it would take to arrive at our destinations, organised group dinners and did everything he could to ensure we had a memorable and trouble free experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travel light. There are a number of opportunities to wash your clothes. I only took hand luggage on the plane so avoided having to wait for my baggage. Go. You’ll love it! Consider arriving a day or two before the trip starts to acclimatise to the heat if you’re going in summer. Las Vegas was 41 centigrade by day and when we all got to our first National Park, Zion, it was 35 centigrade. I loved the heat but was glad I got their 2 days early to get used to it.

Bit rushed trip

Jordan is very nice place while choosing this trip i was expecting to enjoy scenery as well but there were very few stoppage in this trip. Although all arrangements was good and we enjoyed cycling.

Seeing Petra Treasury

Fantastic and Stunning!

A stunning first trip for us to South America – Ecuador has it all. This trip took us on a journey through all the ecosystems of this beautiful Country, from the turbid Amazon with it’s humid jungle to winding mountain roads overlooking houses clinging impossibly to the slopes from where a living was hewn from fields bathed in cloud. Subtle changes in the costume of indigenous residents highlighted this varied community, whilst equally subtle changes became the norm as one climbs from the rain through the cloud forests to the highlands with vegetation that appears barren until you look closely at the beauty of the tiny alpine flowers and plants.

Most Inspirational Moment

For me, the desolate, windy expanse of the foot of Chimborazo had a beauty of it's own and, the sight of the volcano peak, with it's glaciers and blanket of cloud streaming from it's summit is a view I will remember forever. The experience was made more memorable when picking up a lump of basalt rock that, despite the cooling wind, was quite warm from the equatorial sun's rays.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ivan, our leader was clearly passionate about his Country and quite knowledgeable indeed on all aspects of the trip encounters. Always ready to share this knowledge, he was also quite willing to share photographs he had taken as well as help us to home in on wildlife so we could likewise capture the moment. He made every effort to include all the group and on the occasions where we had "free time" was always keen to show us more of the sights, which is how some of us found ourselves in a Medical museum in Cuenca poring over antiquated dental chairs, ophthalmic equipment and Iron Lungs!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take layers. The climate is such that whilst overall warm, layers help control the changes bought on by wind or the ever changing clouds that block then release the strong sun. We found simple cagoules with layers beneath plenty sufficient for the rain we encountered (which was minimal, it being the end of the dry season). As for mosquitos, we both dressed appropriately long trousers/sleeves when required, combined with liberal doses of Deet, Avon 'Skin so Soft' and mosquito coils at night whilst in the rain forest. Did it all work? - absolutely, I was not bitten at all, whilst Karen received a small bite when we decamped the coach unexpectedly to see a troop of Howler monkeys!

Fabulous Sicily

This is our 6th Cycling holiday and one of the best so far. We were lucky to be part of a wonderful group made up of folks from the UK, Australia, NZ and Canada. We all had lots of laughs and good times.
Some of the hills were challenging but all the better for 6/15 being e-bikes, so don’t be afraid to book an e-bike.
Some beautiful towns and scenery as well as good hotels, delicious food and restaurants selected by our group leader Davide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to mention but arriving in Noto was spectacular where we had a fabulous pizza.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Davide was an amazing young man who had a lot of passion for his country and wanted you to share it at every level. A really good group leader and well briefed on local history and culture. Must also mention Giuseppe the mechanic, driver and picnic man, whilst he couldn't speak English, he observed the group and made sure we were all looked after.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If in any doubt of your cycling abilities just book an e-bike. We loved them and they worked well with the group. The hotels were all good but remember to bring your swim shoes. Also if you like an early morning coffee, bring a travel kettle. Tea & coffee facilities are not provided in your room. Some roads coming into the towns can be quite busy, so make sure you are confident with riding in traffic.

Another Excellent Walking Holiday with Exodus

Well organised, the guide Tony was faultless, knowledgeable and great company. The hotel was a lovely family run place and nothing was too much effort for the staff. The walks themselves just got better and better each day, ending with the ‘Walk of the Gods’. It was our second trip with Exodus and we have booked for next year already.

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day .......fabulous walks in a beautiful part of Italy.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Top notch ....Tony was knowledgeable, managed the whole group and walks really well and really good fun to be with.

Advice for Potential Travellers

....just go and enjoy! :-)

A wonderful Mont Blanc Highlights! Wonderful Charmonix environment!

We enjoyed Mont Blanc Highlights walking, the Charmonix environment and the food in the Chalet Chocolat very much. The guide Egle and the Chef/driver/host Zohi & Ben are very professional, lovely and helpful. Definietely it’s an excellent trip!

Most Inspirational Moment

One of our team members finished her 5-days walking that she never dreamde of !

Excellent first experience of South America

This was a really good trip.
Came home with a real sense of having seen the diversity and contrast between the different areas that Bolivia has to offer.
Having quite a few two night stop overs in some of the locations added to the whole trip.
We crammed a lot in, but it didn’t feel too rushed.

Most Inspirational Moment

The amazing landscape just kept giving from start to finish, but I guess standing on the Salt Flats at Uyuni and driving through the spectacular wilderness of Alti Plano had to be the most inspirational moments of the trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Melany was just fantastic. She kept us all well organised and well informed at all times. Her general, cultural and historical knowledge of all the different places that we visited was really good, along with her knowledge of South America as a whole.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take plenty of layers for the different climates between the low lands and the higher altitudes and you will be fine.

Great memories of a fascinating country

Cycling Indonesia was a brilliantly organised trip which offered a glimpse into a good cross section of Indonesian, from the quiet East Javanese beaches to the bustling cultural centre of Ubud. The countryside was wonderful and the traffic did not pose a problem as they seemed to navigate around us. The terrain was hilly but none of the climbs were extreme and all in our group made it up both volcanoes in their own time. The local people were so welcoming and friendly and our guide and his crew were equally outstanding.

Most Inspirational Moment

The best moment for me was camping on the beach in East Java - so quiet and remote considering we were on one of the most populous Islands in the world. I also loved the quiet achievement of cycling up the volcanoes.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Wira, our guide was exceptional. He was patient, looked after all our needs and was always keen to answer any questions we had. He was a good cyclist and encouraged us to ride at our own pace which made for an enjoyable cycling experience. We could go as fast or as slow as we wanted. The rest of the Exodus team were equally efficient, making sure we always had refreshments, a hearty lunch and a well stoked supply of my favourite Beng Beng chocolate bars.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It is the engagement with the people and the culture that is the standout and produce the strongest memories. Take time to look around and learn as much as possible. I would also advise to do some cycle training beforehand as there are quite a few hills.

Excellent holiday

We had a very enjoyable holiday walking in the Prosecco hills with Vania who was an excellent guide

Most Inspirational Moment

Difficult to choose one moment - we enjoyed the whole trip . There was a varied itinerary with spectacular scenery

Thoughts on Group Leader

Vania de Proli was excellent . She had very good local knowledge , was very well organised and looked after the group in a very thoughtful manner throughout the week making sure everyone was comfortable with the walks

Outstanding trip

A wonderful trip which exceeded our expectations. Although very day was different, each days walk was better than the day before. The TreCime walk was probably the best day hike of my life! Our guide Karl was a mine of information about the interesting history of the area this greatly added to our experience. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The tre Cime walk

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very good

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go and do it!
