Just back from the most amazing week in the Alps. Breath-taking views on every walk. Level of walking requires some effort but very manageable. Our tour guide Tim was wonderful. Organised, patient, very knowledgeable about the area, flora & fauna and as a bonus he is an exceptional photographer so our group have come home with professional photographs of our trip. Caro & Sebastien run Chalet Chalupa & they looked after us so well. There were freshly baked treats to come back to every day & delicious 3 course meals every night. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a single thing about this trip & would highly recommend it to anyone.

There were so many unforgettable moments on this adventure, but seeing the wildlife in such a natural way, without lots of people round them, was incredible. Camping wild and going off-grid felt like an amazing reset and the tents were very comfortable. Couldn’t recommend this trip more!
Hmmm lots to choose from! Watching two elephants playfighting from the fly camp, being taught how to navigate using the stars by our tour leader, going to sleep to the sound of elephants and hippos.
Martin was incredible. His knowledge about the local wildlife, plants, culture and history was so impressive. He worked tirelessly to make sure we had an amazing trip, always making sure we were comfortable and safe. Such a pleasure to spend the week with him. His assistant Stuart was fantastic too - also went the extra mile to make sure we had a great trip!
A whirlwind of beautiful chateaux, wine tastings, historic towns, and a bit of walking
Moment # 1: Walking down a long, tree-lined allee to arrive at the first chateau at Chenonceau. Moment #2: Arriving at our first night's hotel and realizing that this was our lodging, not an unscheduled chateau to visit.
Yannis was the kind of group leader you want--knowledgeable, well organized, great fun. He was attentive and extremely helpful in helping some of us make return train arrangements, sought out our feedback, checked in with us along the way--all with a smile. We were also lucky to have Lucas as our van driver/travel companion.
There's minimal walking (the focus is more on culture and history), so walking boots/poles are really not necessary.
The perfect way to see the best of Italy for those who want to be outdoors and exercise
The group encouraging eachother if the cycling got tough
In one word Excellent. Manni the group leader and Leo the support guy always made sure we felt safe and made the whole day from breakfast to bedtime enjoyable and fun. Manni imparted all his knowledge concerning this area of Italy and was a brilliant guide.
If you are sitting on the fence about an electric bike then please have one. I consider myself fit, enjoy spin classes and cycle regularly. I chose and electric bike due to a recent injury, but boy oh boy I'm glad I did. The 'upward slopes' on hot windy days were challenging and that little bit of electric on the odd occasion made sure this was a holiday and not an endurace test........... 90% + of the time I used my own leg power so had a brilliant work out every day.
The trip was everything I’d hoped for and more! From the stunning ancient streets of Dubrovnik to the serene beauty of the islands, every moment was perfectly curated. The itinerary struck a brilliant balance of cultural immersion, active exploration, and essential relaxation, allowing us to truly soak in the magic of Croatia. The organisation was flawless, and the local insights provided were invaluable. I loved every minute and would highly recommend this trip to anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure in a truly breathtaking part of the world!
Korčula, Mljet, Badja, and Vrnik
Vanja. Punctual, precise, omnipresent, and with all the answers and all the maps. I could have not wished for a better tour leader. She's truly a fantastic person, and a great asset.
While cards are widely accepted, it is not compulsory for businesses to accept card payments, and some are cash only (euros). ATMs are everywhere (use the ones with the word "bank" in it for less fees), and then go ahead and try all the food.
This trip was stunning and up there with one of the best I have done with Exodus. You can chose between grade 3 and grade 5 walks every day, which gives you the freedom to decide how challenging your days are. I opted for grade 5 every day and chose to enjoy my free day at thr QC Terme Dolomiti spa which was a welcomed relax between the walks. The weather was stunning during the days and walks varied, every walk was breath taking and offered something different, even though I don’t think you could ever get bored of the scenary. Campitello di fassa was a lovely town to be based in, it has everything you needed without feeling too big or busy.
Having lunch at the top of a 3000 meter peak.
We had Mike and Jenny, Mike lead the grade 5 walks where Jenny did the grade 3 and they were both very knowledgeable, friendly and accomodating. Mike was a fantastic guide on our walks, we felt safe, looked after and the group had a relaxed feel!
Pack for all weather, whilst it was above 30 degrees on days, it was chilly up top with still snow on the ground further up in the mountains. the evenings were also a bit chillier and we had hailstones on one night. Mountian weather has micro climates so whatever the weather man says doesn't always go, things can change so quickly so make sure you are prepared.
We visited in March 2025 and there were no reviews for this trip prior to our date of travel. We added on two nights before and also after the trip in Delhi to allow us to do an in depth private day tour of the city plus visit the national museum and modern art gallery. We also had a little bit of down time at the end of the trip and we opted to stay in the Taj Hotel which was fabulous.
There were only five people in our group and our guide was Ajay Gupta. We had a brand new minibus for travel and we had plenty of room to stretch out. The itinerary is pretty busy and you are never bored. At the time we visited there was absolutely no rain and the temperatures varied between high 20s to low 30s degrees C and these are the temperatures in the shade.
We really enjoyed visiting the various temples and mosques and the walking tour of old Delhi has to be a highlight. We hardly saw another tourist during this walk and our guide was lovely. The noise, colours and smells are exhilarating and we particularly enjoyed the tuk tuk and rickshaw rides. The three cities on this tour are all very different and each has its own charms. The food in India is wonderful and another highlight was the cooking lesson at the family home and then enjoying eating what you had made. The quality of the hotels used was very good and we particularly enjoyed the Neemrana Fort Hotel and the Tigress at Ranthambore.
I really wanted to rate this trip 4.5 stars, but the site will only let me use whole stars. My advice to Exodus is to consider adding on a third, optional game drive at Ranthambore as unfortunately we did not see any tigers as you are pre-allocated a zone for each game drive. Also we did not see the point of the train trip between Bharatpur to Agra as the trains are grubby and overcrowded and we waited around at the station for quite a while before the departure. We were also warned not to use the facilities on board.
Without a doubt the visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise and beating the crowds. It really will take your breath away and you will literally be taking dozens of photographs.
Ajay was an excellent and very professional guide and he was always happy to answer any questions we had. Our trip went smoothly and there were no problems regarding either transport or the itinerary.
If you are able to, then add on extra time in Delhi as there is so much to see and do. We were amazed at how well maintained the city is and there are lots of trees and plants wherever you go. We enjoyed this trip so much that we have booked the Discover South India premium tour for next year. One trip to India is definitely not enough.
My recent trekking adventure with Exodus was truly exceptional. The hospitality at Chalet Chalupa with Caro & Sebastian was outstanding, and the support from our guide was incredible. Caro and Sebastian, the chalet managers, created a warm, home-like atmosphere with consistently delicious food, including perfect buffet to pack our lunches. The hikes offered a brilliant mix of terrains and elevation, leading to breathtaking views, which were wonderful to share with fellow trekkers.
One of the most inspiring moments was undoubtedly reaching those breathtaking views at every turn after conquering challenging terrains and elevation gains. It was a true joy to share these stunning vistas with fellow trekkers who truly appreciated the beauty of the outdoors.
Our guide was an absolute gem. Their knowledge of the area, local history, and geology was endless, brought to life through captivating stories and insights. Beyond their expertise, they demonstrated a remarkable ability to tune into everyone's needs, expertly tailoring the path and pace to suit the group, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and engaged. Their guidance made each day on the trail not just a physical journey, but also a deeply enriching experience.
I went in mid June and I packed for a colder climate than we encountered. The hikes were hot and I hardly touched the hat, gloves, and long sleeves I brought. Bring a hat, half the hikes are not under tree cover. I was very glad I brought electrolytes and a separate water bladder with me along with additional snacks and protein as breakfasts were mostly carbs and dairy.
This was our sixth Exodus trip (and overall one of the best). The walks were interesting with spectacular scenery and varied wildlife (both flora and fauna), and we learnt a new definition of the term ‘more or less flat’. The hotels were all good, the first two full of character and the final one in a great location with magnificent views over Sagres harbour and with extraordinarily helpful staff. The hotel breakfasts offered great variety and were excellent fuel for the mornings’ walking. The non-walking activities were well-chosen and interesting. There were visits to a ceramics workshop and an artisan olive oil presser which were fascinating and the tasting at the high tech Vicentino winery very near the Alentejo coast offered a different dimension. The wines were very good, with a noticeable salty tang.
The walks were on paths that were generally good or very good, other than about 1km on day 6 which is over broken rock, but trail shoes or boots should have good treads as some short sections were quite loose and eroded (and could have been slippery if the ground had been wet). We were a little late for the best of the wild flowers on the dunes but they were still very varied and attractive. We saw storks nesting on rock pinnacles just offshore (apparently the only place in the world where they nest on sea stacks) and were lucky enough to see three peregrine falcons on one of the coastal walks.
Overall, this was a great week with friendly and amusing companions from Canada, Scotland and England and superlative guides. If we did it again, we would probably go in the late Spring rather than the early Summer, both to have slightly more varied wild flowers and (perhaps!) to avoid walking in 34 degrees in the hills, but we would thoroughly recommend the trip.
The first view of the spectacular coastline from the clifftop.
Our leaders were Francisco and his life-long friend Rafael. They made frequent stops on the walks to tell us about the flora and fauna, and the geology on day 6, where there are sites that are world-renowned. They both had a great sense of humour and were thoughtful, anticipating the needs of all the group members, even providing flip-flops for a stream crossing. They recommended, and organised, restaurants for group dinners on every night except two, giving us insights into the cuisine both of the hills and the coast (and lessons in the Portuguese way of eating sardines and deep-fried fish with your fingers!). Overall, they couldn’t have done more to make the holiday a memorable one.
Take sturdy boots/walking shoes with a good tread. Some of the walks have stretches on sand dunes and it is worth wearing long trousers on those days if you don’t want boots full of sand! Walking poles are useful for some sections.
This is my 7th or 8th Exodus cycling trip. I think it is the most low-key one I have done – it is not stunning, amazing, Instagram-worthy, or dramatic, but if you want a very enjoyable experience in rural Romania, with scarcely another tourist in site, with a great group leader and a great group, learning about the history and culture of Romania, this is a trip for you. If you want to excite envy in your friends with dramatic photos and tales, then choose another one.
Absolutely superb. Could not be better - friendly, helpful, informative, knowledgeable, personable
As above - highly recommended if you know what you are getting
