Signposts on the Tour de Mont Blanc, France

Your words, not ours

When we agreed to this trip, I was nervous to say the least. Our guide Lahcen and the people of Morocco immediately put all of that to ease. We had an amazing trip. Lahcen and our other tour guides taught us about the culture, history, Islam faith and community of Morocco. It was unbelievable. I’d also be remiss not to mention Abdul, our driver. The care he took in getting us from destination to destination was awesome!!

This really was a wonderful trip. So much packed into just one week – you’ll see all the main sights and more: Jerash – incredible; Petra – stunning; Wadi Rum – breathtaking. Make sure you opt for the meal with the local family in Wadi Musa; that for me was one of the highlights of the trip.

I went into this trip with very little knowledge of what to expect. I am leaving Morocco with a true appreciation of the people, the culture, the landscape and the history. The trip was very well curated and we were extremely well taken care of throughout the entire experience. Our guide, Lahcen, was incredible; he shared so much of himself, his humor, his culture and was very willing to answer anything we asked about politics, religion or history. The guides in each city/town were also very informative and insightful.

This was a very comprehensive trip. We saw the cities, the villages and the Sahara. We went through the markets with a local guide shopping for our food for our cooking class. “Glamping” in the Sahara and riding camels was fabulous. Every local guide that we had at each stop was so informative as they explained what life was like in these villages throughout history and today.

Jordan is everything I expected and more, sadly for the country tourism is down but that was good for us who had the sights practically to ourselves – and what sights they are. Marvellous country, the history and architecture- so enthusiastically brought to life by Muayed, the people, the food. Absolutely fabulous!

Caroline Knighton A Week in Jordan

This trip leans more toward moderate walking rather than leisurely due to the terrain which is quite rocky.
The weather the week I was there was clear, sunny, and warm. The countryside was filled with beautiful spring flowers which offset some of my disappointment in the general scenery and the walks through pasture lands where it was sometimes difficult to navigate holes hidden by grass, limestone outcroppings, and cattle paddies.
The Cortijo Rosario was lovely and the staff very welcoming and accommodating. The dinners were very good and the staff very obliging to dietary requests without sacrificing taste or portions of substituted dishes. The only hiccup as far as our stay was being without hot water one evening. I would not mention it as we made do, and no one seemed upset over it, including myself, but I have read in other reviews that the same thing has happened.
Algámitas is a very rural village with very few businesses (take what you will need), but the couple of times we made pre-hike morning stops for coffee at two of the cafes there were nice.
