Those arriving early may join an optional exploration of Colombo’s art and architecture, beginning at the former private residence of Geoffrey Bawa, father of tropical modernism, before visiting leading contemporary galleries and a private artist studio (available to prebook on request).
As dusk softens the gardens, we gather for a welcome reception and refined dinner, curated by the head chef and enjoyed beneath warm lights and open skies.
Overnight at The Wallawwa
Journey to the Cultural Triangle, landscapes opening into lakes, rock outcrops and village life. We pause en route at Kurunegala Amakie Café, before arriving at our Signature Stay, Jetwing Vil Uyana, a wetland sanctuary woven through forest and water.
Signature Experience: In the early evening, step into a quiet rural temple, where a Buddhist host welcomes you into an almsgiving ceremony – a gentle, contemplative ritual at the heart of Sri Lankan religious life. As offerings are prepared and presented, your host explains the significance of generosity, merit-making, and community support in Buddhist practice.
The day closes with an intimate dining experience, where the hotel’s executive chef and a village cook prepare classic Sri Lankan dishes exclusively before you, sharing stories through food.
Overnight at Jetwing Vil Uyana

Accompanied by field researchers from the Smithsonian Primate Research Station, gain rare insight from conservation specialists whose decades of work have shaped global primate research and featured in acclaimed television documentaries and a Disney film.
After exploring the ancient city, continue to a family farming home for a farm-to-table lunch prepared with seasonal produce and time-honoured recipes.
Later, an afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park – renowned for its elephant population – unfolds across grasslands and wetlands, ending with a relaxed sundowner.
Second night at Jetwing Vil Uyana
Today is your Signature Day, where you can select an authentic, curated experience to connect deeply with Sri Lanka’s cultural and natural heritage. You could:

Third night at Jetwing Vil Uyana
Travel into the cooler central highlands, arriving at Simpson’s Forest (near Wattegama, Kandy), a tea and clove estate set against mountain ridges.
A traditional lunch served in clay pots introduces regional flavours, followed by a nature hike through estate paths, past tea bushes and towering clove trees, and among the sounds of native birds. It ends at a natural rock pool for a refreshing dip in crystalline waters.
As night falls, enjoy an exclusive garden dinner hosted by the estate’s executive chef, where torchlight and the surrounding forest create an intimate atmosphere.

Sri Lanka’s tropical climate brings warm temperatures year-round. The Cultural Triangle is typically dry and sunny, with cooler mornings ideal for exploration. In the hill country around Kandy, days feel fresher, with misty starts and mild afternoons. Along the southern coast, expect steady warmth, sea breezes and the occasional brief shower. Seasonal variations shape the landscape’s character, but conditions generally support relaxed exploration throughout the year.
As with all adventures in the Signature Collection, we take care of your arrival and departure transfers, allowing you to fully relax and immerse yourself in the local culture.
Full joining instructions including local emergency numbers will be sent to you as part of our Final Joining Instructions. If you do not receive these at least a week before departure, or require them earlier please contact our office or your travel agent.

There’s no specialist equipment you need for this trip. For more information on what you might need to pack, please see our packing guide.
Travellers from the UK, US and EU normally need a visa (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka. Travellers from most countries can obtain a 30-day ETA (US$50) at www.eta.gov.lk. We strongly recommend that you do this prior to travel to avoid any complications and delays on arrival. Please note, visa requirements often change and it is your responsibility to obtain any required visas for this trip. Therefore, we recommend that you check with the nearest embassy or consulate of your chosen destination(s), including any countries you may be transiting or transferring through.
Some local governments provide guidance on what visas their citizens need. To help, we’ve gathered a selection of useful links below.
Local customs and laws: You should be aware of local laws and customs in Sri Lanka (see: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/sri-lanka/local-laws-and-customs). The mistreatment of Buddhist images and artefacts is an offence; please note, people have been refused entry to Sri Lanka because of visible tattoos of Buddha.
There are no required vaccinations. However, recommended vaccinations include tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, tuberculosis and typhoid. You will also need a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you’re arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission or transiting for more than 12 hours through a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Please confirm with your doctor or travel clinic.
The risk of malaria is slight but you may wish to consult your doctor or travel clinic for further advice. Additionally, dengue fever, a tropical viral disease spread by daytime biting mosquitoes, is a known risk in places visited. There is currently no vaccine or prophylaxis available; the best form of prevention is to take the usual precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

Sri Lanka's time zone: Asia/Colombo (UTC +05:30)
Sri Lanka's electricity: Plug type G (three rectangular pins) – 230V, 50Hz – is by far the most common type in Sri Lanka. The electricity supply is not 100 percent reliable but is usually only off for short periods
Sri Lanka's currency: All foreign passport holders can make payments for purchases in the local currency, Sri Lankan rupees (LKR). This is applicable to hotels, restaurants, shops and for any other services. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and most established shops. If you wish to exchange any cash upon arrival into Sri Lankan rupees, it is advisable to exchange British pounds, euros or US dollars upon arrival at Colombo Airport where authorised bank money exchanges are open 24-hours a day. Hotels can change money as well, but the rates will probably not be favourable. Your Tour Leader will be happy to direct you to the appropriate exchange services if you wish to change money during the trip. You are no longer required to produce your receipt of foreign exchange when making payments in Sri Lankan rupees, as was previously the case. However, we suggest you retain receipts of foreign exchange which will help should you wish to change back any unused rupees at the time of departure.
On this adventure, tipping for any local support staff is included and will be taken care of locally by your Signature Guide. Tips for your Signature Guide are not included. We recommend a starting point of US$70 to US$75 per group member, to be given at the end. This is discretionary and you may wish to tip a different amount, depending on the service you have received.
