This holiday exceeded all expectations. What can you say when you go on holiday hoping to see a tiger and you have the privilige of seeing ten tigers in three National Parke on twelve occasions.
Watching a large male tiger for more than half an hour, walking along a track, scent marking and not perturbed by us at all. You just can,t beat that.
Harish Kumar is certainly among the best tour leaders that I have ever travelled with. His local knowledge was invaluable and his organisational skills superb. Couple that with his wildlife experience what more could you ask for.
Go for it. There is so much to see and enjoy.
Amazing! Beautiful trails, quality organisation, everything i expected and more!
Conquring the uphills! Not many of them but they definatley make the downs more worthwhile!
Couldn't of been better. We had Liz who is the most patient person i've met. Incredible knowledge of the tour and each individual trail. A great leader.
Lip Balm and anti chaffing cream! Thank me later!
Toughest but most amazing thing I’ve ever done in my life!!
The week itself was challenging but more mentally than physically, until summit night which seems never ending... But once you get to the top, you feel elated. The guides and the porters are with you every step of the way and they themselves were the most inspirational part of the holiday.
The local company Exodus use in Tanzania, African Walking Company are faultless. The group leader was knowledgable, inspirational, thoughtful and if it wasnt for him and his team, many of us wouldn't have made it to the summit. The food they prepare for you on route is unbelievable. 3 course meals, 3 times a day, which gives you everything you need to keep you going. We even had fish and chips one night :) I can not thank them enough for the hard work they put in during the week.
Take wet wipes :) Water for washing is sparse, so take plenty of wet wipes and hand gel. Also, the first couple of days can be quite hot, so make sure you pack shorts and a sun hat!
Great experience. Nice balance of travelling and resting.
Salsa!! Learning something of the history and politics of Cuba. Seeing and hearing first hand the good, the bad and the ugly.
Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He was ably supported by an excellent driver who was willing to join in and help in anything we attempted.
Don't expect hot water in all hotels !!!! Listen to the guide and follow his instructions re anything.
The first time I have used Exodus (or any organised tour), This holiday lived up to all my expectations. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and DCR allows you to see a great cross-section – the two different Coastlines, rainforest, cloud forest, meeting local people, and of course lots of wildlife – day and night time, and a lot of birding. The accommodation was very good, the food delicious and lots of. It is a leisurely paced trip.
Ooh, tough question. I loved every moment of it - even the cold, wet cloud forest of Monteverde!!! - the zip lining was fantastic fun!! Tortuguero - even though we were not there for turtle season, and Esquinas Rainforest Lodge is a special place - make sure you go on the guided nightwalk . Relaxing with cocktails in the hot thermal springs near Arenal, stunning sunset in Manuel Antoinio..... the list is endless. Seeing and photographing the Resplendant Quetzal and his partner together in San Gerado de Dota was a special moment. Being with a fantastic tour group made the trip even better.
Our group leader was Allan Vargas. He was great. Very personable, funny, full of information, very enthustiastic and keen to share his knowledge and the country he loves. Our driver, Geraldo, although had limited English, was excellent. Felt very safe with him a the wheel, and he had a great sense of humour.
Make sure you bring as good a camera as you can afford, along with the biggest lens - I had 300mm and I would say that is the minimum. That said don't worry if you only have a compact camera, you'll still get amazing photos (and you can take it ziplining...) and you can also photograh anything seen through the guide's telescope (so you may get better photos than those of us with slrs!!) Binoculars are very very helpful too.Just enjoy the views, dont' get hung up on getting photos of everything or you may end up missing it in the first place!!
My enjoyment of the Dobbiaco trip never fails ; well into double figures for my visits ! Although I have covered all the routes many times they continue to thrill as the scenery is so spectacular and the skiing varied .
Emerging from the tunnel into glorious sunshine for the descent towards Cortina! The thrill of the descent of the old military road .Finally succeeding in negotiating a tricky steep double hairpin spot after several failures !
Gareth was most helpful and considerate ; although we were experienced we were still able to benefit from his tips . He made every effort to ensure we got as much enjoyment in this holiday . Additionally ,he was good company socially .
Choose Dobbiaco for a great experience of crosscountry skiing with a wide variety of day routes amongst wonderful scenery. You will stay at a most comfortable friendly family-run hotel returning each day to a large dinner !
This was one of the best holidays we’ve ever had – the wealth and variety of experience was breathtaking! We couldn’t believe how much wildlife we saw against the backdrop of a truly beautiful country, and the structure of the holiday (2 days in each of 6 contrasting locations, from coast to cloud forest, topped and tailed by a day in San Jose at each end) made the trip feel like 6 full-on, action packed weekend breaks.
There were so many! Probably the most stunning moment was the suspension bridge walk through the top of the tree canopy in Monteverde Cloud Forest, which also, as a bonus, began and ended in a hummingbird garden. To look down on primary forest from above rather than peering up from below, to see the vastness of the plants and trees and to realise a lot of the time you couldn't actually see the ground, was an almost spiritual experience.
Our group leader, Antonio, was fabulous! He was the font of all knowledge and appeared to know the answer to every question asked of him, delivering vast quantities of information with a wonderful combination of patience and humour. His enthusiasm and pride for his country took him way beyond the call of duty - he took us on extra walks in pretty well every location we visited, just to show us more of the natural wealth of Costa Rica.
Packing light is easy - laundry services in all the locations are excellent!
A fantastic trip! The guides were excellent, a great bunch of people, food was great and the route was well chosen for fantastic views and a good mix of terrain. I would definitely go on another Exodus cycling trip
The views of southern Morocco were breathtaking
excellent. The leader was well informed, knew the route, told us exactly what to expect at each stage and even took some extra time to share some bike maintenance tips for my own bike
This has to be the best week long holiday we have taken with Exodus. A week packed full of amazing places to see and things to do, not only is Jordan a ” hidden treasure” but the people are so friendly too!
It's difficult to put a " number one" but how can that not be Petra. Petra is a place that we had always wanted to see, but we had no idea just how vast , beautiful and awe inspiring it would be. The highlight of Petra may very well have been hiking ( not very strenuous ) in the mountains above Petra and looking down at it from the heights. Exploring the temples and caves that the " normal " tourists don't get to see. Wadi Rum was also a surprise and a delight. Sitting alone in the silence watching the sun go down. Or going out with the group in the evening and just lying on the sand, gazing at the stars in the silence was truly inspirational. There was much laughter and fun amongst our group, which also made this holiday
Zuhair, was full of fun. He was extremely knowledgable and we felt very safe in his experienced hands. He knew the best routes to take, the best places to eat and the best things to do. We loved listening to his story's and anecdotes on the long journeys and around the camp fire at Wadi Rum.
Take a sleeping bag for Wadi Rum, it will be more comfortable. We went in February and on a day to day basis we could go from T shirts and needing sun block to needing a warm jacket. Take layers to peel on and off. It didn't rain when we were there, but it can do. A torch is essential at Wadi Rum, and shoes you can wear in the Dead Sea also. The Red Sea was a little cold in February but we could snorkel and there was a lot to see. But I suggest you take some warm clothes to put on for when you get out of the water..
