Andrius joined the Exodus team in 2018, bringing a wealth of knowledge on Baltics history and culture, enhanced by his own experience of living within the Soviet Union. Leading our walking and cycling trips around Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, he also brings a cultural clout few can match. He’s travelled the world extensively, speaks multiple languages and is a connoisseur of whiskeys, spirits and wines. And when he’s not leading a group, you might find him indulging in his other hobbies, including creating his own cider and foraging for mushrooms. He’s an expert in Baltic history, culture and the Soviet Union, speaks multiple languages (Lithuanian, English, Russian, Spanish and some Georgian, Polish and German) and covers around 2,000mi/3,220km on his bike each year for Exodus
What You Say:
“Group leader (Andrius) was perhaps the best part of the trip. He was born under Soviet rule and just as he entered university the Soviet Union dissolved and his country declared independence. His insights and knowledge of history and society were a real treat” – Karl
“Wonderful. Really made the trip work so well for all of us. Very easy to get on with and approach. Great sense of humour and very knowledgeable. Would recommend any trip he leads” – Mark
“Andrius was amazing. Leading the cycling on his own he succeeded in keeping the group together – quite a feat given the large group of varying abilities. Always on hand, he kept us entertained at all times with his explanations and anecdotes on the different cultures and histories of the 3 countries. He made excellent choices of restaurants for us to taste the local specialties and treated us with tastings of liqueurs such as the rum based Vanna Tallinn and Riga Black Balsum. He wanted us all to enjoy the experience and leave with happy memories and I’m sure we all did” – Peter
