WALKING THE FRENCH RIVIERA

I would certainly  recommend this walking holiday, it proved very interesting. The location is marvellous  with the hotel front overlooking the sea and the  hills behind encompassing these wonderfull walks with such splendid views.

Most Inspirational Moment

The lunch spot on  the last walk, friday, sitting on the ridge in pine trees in the plesant sun with views  to the south down to Menton and north to the southern Alps  with their snowy tops.  A most beautifull location to be at.!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Could not be bettered ! Plesant, well informed, French.  Stephanie looked after us so well. The prepared pack of local information was comprehensive. On the one slight medical concern we had on a walk she acted very confidently...she is excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The walks are not for the weak willed, the ascents need grit, and this could be harder  as the summer progresses. I used a walking pole and was very glad I had taken it with me.

CLASSIC VIETNAM & ANGKOR

Excellent variety of things to see and do. Small congenial group.

Most Inspirational Moment

Overnight cruise in Halong Bay including  sea kayaking through a rock tunnel to an enclosed bay with wild monkeys.Exploring the Chi Chi tunnels - I knew about these of course, but experiencing them first hand and understanding the ingenuity and determination that  created them and kept them functioning was fascinating.Loved Hoi An - relaxing after the bustle of Hanoi.Angkor Wat for its scale, Bayon temple for its artistry and doing my Tomb Raider pose among those incredible tree roots at Ta Prohm.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Dat was very personable and fitted in well with the group. He took us to some great places to eat that we might not have discovered for ourselves, especially the Night market BBQ in Ho Chi Minh City and the newly opened Little Menu restaurant in Hoi An. I'm sure a lot of work went on behind the scenes to make all the arrangements flow smoothly. In Angkor, we had less social time with our guide but he was very knowledgable and made a good selection of 4 temples each with something different to offer.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Although guide books say you can get good coffee in Vietnam, I found it almost undrinkable. It was often like tar and the biggest problem was that I just couldn't find unsweetened milk. So if you like white coffee without sugar, suggest you take both coffee and some powdered milk (kettle in all hotels on this trip)Don't take too many clothes; you will be packing and unpacking a lot. Laundry services are easy to find, very cheap (outside the hotel) and quick. Loose silk or cotton pants or tops are very cheap and there are lots of T shirts, trainers, sandals etc if you need them + you will need space in your luggage to bring stuff back.Save your shopping for Hoi An; best quality, best variety and rather less hustle and bustle than Hanoi. If you are in the market for a handbag (or belt, wallet etc) Siem Reap has lots of crocodile, snake, ostrich and sting ray leather goods - not cheap but certainly cheaper than UK for this quality.

CYCLE MOROCCO'S GREAT SOUTH

A very enjoyable and challenging cycling trip with inspiring and varying landscapes and terrain

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling through almost traffic free roads with great views of the snow capped peaks of High Atlas mountains on the horizon

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alejandro was an excellent leader Well organised, very friendly, knowledgeable and good humored.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you are fit enough otherwise you may find some of the climbs challenging, some might like to bring your own saddle or spd pedals . Don't use your rear brake when cornering on a sandy surface :-)

MARRAKECH & THE SAHARA

This was the first time I had gone on a holiday like this and the first time on my own.  Although I was a little concerned to start with there was really no need to be.  I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and will be travelling with Exodus again.

Most Inspirational Moment

Highlights of the trip were the trek on camels in to the desert and watching the sunrise and sunset, and the walk up in to the Atlas mountiains, it was beautiful.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was great, he was very informative and would answer any questions you had.  He even arranged a birthday cake at our last hotel as 2 members of our party celebrated birthdays during the week we were there.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If it's your first time don't worry about it, everybody joins in and the ones that have done this type of holiday before are very quick to help and give advice.

ESSENTIAL PERU

I set off in high hopes of another fabulous trip, but sadly had to abandon the trip on day 5 due to acute mountain sickness which was a traumatic experienceTherefore my input is limited

Most Inspirational Moment

All I saw were the Balestas Islands and their Humbolt penguins, whuich in spite of being photographed from a small boat are in focus-.This is about the sum total of my photographic records,as photography from the light aircrasft trip over the Nazca Lines wasn't worth the struggle;better to enjoy the ride ,which I did. The drive into the Andes was breathtaking-literally!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Was just getting to know him ;he was very knowledgeable and an excellent museum etc guide

Advice for Potential Travellers

I don't  suffer from travel sickness but there were several sufferers on  the trip

PETRA & WADI RUM BY BIKE

I chose this trip (my first with Exodus) because I really wanted to see Petra. However, I also enjoy exercising and keeping fit, so the combination of cycling and sightseeing appealed greatly.

Most Inspirational Moment

1. My first sighting of The Treasury at Petra, awesome! 2. Swimming in The Dead Sea. 3. Spending a night in the Wadi Rum desert, very special indeed.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Khalid was personable, knowledgable and gave us more of his time than he was scheduled to do, I'm sure. He kept the group well informed at all times, arranged extra excursions with no problems, and generally entertained us all very well. I always felt safe and confident that we were being well looked after. Thanks to his efforts all seemed to run very smoothly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Keep hydrated! It's fine to wear Lycra/tight cycling gear on the bikes. Our cycle guide was in Lycra every day.

DISCOVER SRI LANKA

A varied trip with beautiful scenery, interesting cultural sites and lots of wildlife. A busy schedule but there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Most Inspirational Moment

Quite a few. Climbing to the top of Sigiriya, visiting the many temples, meeting the friendly locals, white water rafting in the jungle, travelling by train through the cloud forest, seeing wild elephants and crocodiles in Yala national park and seeing sperm whales and dolphins on the whale watching trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent, Sujee was always smiling and joking. He organised everything very well and made sure everything ran smoothly. He was always telling stories and singing songs to help us understand more about Sri Lankan life.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Insect repellant is a must!

CYCLE THE BACKROADS OF SRI LANKA

Are great way to experience the country and its people. The food was awesome, i think i ate my own body weight in in delicious Sri Lankan curries. Many of my Sri Lankan friends back home have said i’ve seen more of their country than they have. Some days the cycling was tough but you dont feel rushed to get there and you can take your time. If it ever gets too much you can jump on the bus for a while.

Most Inspirational Moment

cycling through beautiful scenery villages and small towns where the children run up to wave as you cycle pastwhenevery a Sri Lankan person asked you where you had come from or where you were cycling to they would always lose it laughing, they all thought we were mad to be cycling!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Suresh is amazing, friendly, so helpful and even when you know he has been asked the same question about a billion times stills answers it like it was the first time. Suresh had so much knowledge about his country and its history. A trip to Sri Lanka would not have been as great without him. He also has the most wonderful giggle!

Advice for Potential Travellers

bring padded shorts/seat it will be your best friend and suncream that is sweat/water resistant and has a high SPF

LAND OF THE TIGER

This trip was exciting, well organised and inspirational, and exceeded my expectations. It is difficult to find the right words to sum up the whole experience that is India – immense, overwhelming, cultural, basic, ancient , modern, friendly, diverse, colourful, busy, noisy, smelly! and so much more. You have to go and experience it to know exactly what I mean.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hearing our guide say quietly ' tiger coming ' as we sat in our jeep parked on a dirt road followed by the sound of rustling in the undergrowth. Spotted deer exploding across the track fearful for their lives and the quiet appearance of a tigress and three, definitely not cuddly, cubs in front of us - magic.

Thoughts on Group Leader

'Bali' ( or Balvinder Singh to give him his proper name ) was exceptional. His whole philosophy was to do everything he could to make this holiday a sucess for everyone. His organisational skills were epic - especially when it came to getting all of us plus our luggage onto the sleeper then making sure we were all together by persuading people to change berths! He gave us an insight into Indian culture and geography, explained the food we were eating and so obviously enjoyed his job that his good nature rubbed off on everyone.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do some research on India before you go so as to appreciate things to the full. As a woman remember that India is a very male orientated society and dress appropriately.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MOROCCO

A great trip to a fascinating country. So much to see and do, a must for anyone with a spirit of adventure.

Most Inspirational Moment

Trekking through the Sahara in a sand storm to the Bedouin camp and climbing the sand dunes at sunrise. Traveling through the mid-atlas in as snow strom! Unexpected and spectacular. The Medina in Fez, amazing!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Mustapha was brilliant. He was very knowledgable and endlessly patient with all our questions. His local connections helped to enhance our experience on numourous occasions. He quickly got to know what we as a group wanted and expected, and acted accordingly. He made out trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do take earplugs, the 4am call to prayers can be very disturbing. Hand gel is a must, no-one got funny tummies because we all used it all the time.
