Canadian Rockies adventure

Fantastic trip expect all weathers from cold and wet to very warm. Its tough but worth it. Camping is good but expect hard ground to pitch tent on not grass. It’s a trip that you will talk about for a long time. So many different experiences.

Most Inspirational Moment

The helicopter ride to the Canadian wilderness

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jeremy was a great leader knowledgeable, great chef and all round good bloke supported by the excellent Sabrina.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be fit and ready for steep walking, be used to camping for longer periods of time made more challenging by the logistics of storing belongings in locked up vans or hauled into the air away from wildlife. Be equipped for the changeable weather.

Fantastic experience

I had the opportunity to discover different parts of the country, see incredible wildlife, learn about its people and history and get to know great people.

Finland

Great when on holiday but 2 days lost in travelling so 6 day trip became 4. Basecamp and activities and group company good fun. Ville good sociable guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Loved the bears and white water rafting.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ville sociable and skilled leader with lots of knowledge about the flora and fauna.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bear viewing is 4 hours. First 2 hours lively as bears knew the food was out, but after their dinner I think they went for a nap as not much happened after that. I do not think a second trip to bear hide at €150 would have tempted me. Rafting good fun. Prepare to get wet. Good hikes throughout time in Finnish foredts. Did not do husky walk which was substituted by a visit to a reindeer farm. Food and accommodation fine.

Poor customer service when we had problems.

Trip was good, but flight was delayed on return. Customer service at this point was terrible. Exodus was oblivious to the problem until I contacted them. I was then told they would monitor and get in touch with updates, but nothing was done. I was assured the out of hours service would be fully briefed – they were also oblivious. They also claimed to have no access to any customer records. What’s the point of an emergency service that has no clue what customers they have or where they are? I was expecting better from Exodus and was bitterly disappointed. Glad we didn’t have a medical emergency, I’d have no faith they’d have been capable of dealing with it.

Great family holiday in Namibia

Overall we had a great time on the family trip to Namibia. We saw some amazing sights and great wildlife and had some very memorable experiences. Our children had a great time with the other kids on the trip – they all gelled immediately.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing over 20 elephants bathe at a waterhole near our campsite.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Gabriel was very knowledgeable and we learned lots from him about local Namibian tribal cultures.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be aware that there is a lot of driving on this trip - typically several hours in a day. This is inevitable given the large distances but worth bearing in mind. The vehicle is fine but not that comfortable. Some of the campsites are lovely but the first one at Etosha was not very nice - but is right by the best waterhole!

Reply from Exodus

We would like to thank David for his review and are very glad to hear that he was happy with his Exodus trip to Bosnia overall; however, we were sorry to read that he felt this was let down by the service he received following a flight delay on his return journey.

In the event of flight delays or cancellations, it is the airline’s responsibility to inform customers directly of the disruption to their flights and to provide information, a new flight if necessary, and accommodation and food/drink should this too be required. We understand that the airline held David’s ticket for his delayed flight and so there wasn’t a need for Exodus to become involved; we would note, however, that should airlines fail to fulfil their obligations Exodus are always prepared to step in and ensure that our customers are able to catch a flight to their destination in a timely manner. We are happy that, on this occasion, David was able to take his scheduled flight home, but are sorry for the delay he faced and any stress this caused.

We have been in direct contact with David and have assured him that our out of hours service are fully able to access customer records, and we are confident they were able to do so in this instance; however, they are not able to access the customer records held by the airlines we use to provide more comprehensive updates than those given by the airline to passengers on the ground. We have also outlined to David how our out of hours team are able to directly contact senior members of Exodus staff as part of our emergency management process, which we feel is an appropriate and efficient way to ensure that any emergencies are identified and handled with urgency.

Fantastic trip, gorgeous views, lots of stairs!

Not only were the walks on this trip great, the views were amazing at every turn. The trip notes are not lying when they say there are lots of stairs so be prepared for some achy calves, however it is absolutely worth it. The hotel accommodation is great and the food is delicious (we even ate there on our free night) so don’t be put off by eating in the same place every night. The barman also did the best limoncello spritzer I’ve ever had! I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone thinking about going to the Amalfi Coast. Walking it really is the best way to see it.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking around the rim of Vesuvius was a wonderful experience. Spending time in Ravello and exploring Villa Ruffalo was also a definite hightlight.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Teresa was fantastic, she quickly recognised that we were a fun group and adapted very well to our personalities. She was extremely knowledgeable of the area, made great recommendations and was happy to help with any queries, big or small.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for steps. The hotel has walking poles, but if you have your own I would recommend taking them.

A terrific trip, with all my thanks to Nhung Bui

A brilliantly organised trip with plenty of variation and a good balance between rest and exploration. I hadn’t quite imagined just how beautiful and exciting Vietnam would be, and so it exceeded each one of my hopes and expectations for this trip by tenfold. A lot of my praise for this trip can be credited to Nhung, who went above and beyond in her duties.

Most Inspirational Moment

The bike ride through the islands where we got to talk to local people and see how the sleep mats and wine were made. Really insightful and just a brilliant day out.

Thoughts on Group Leader

No words written here could truly do Nhung justice; she is radiant, witty, helpful, and just a wonderful person. It was her guidance and involvement which truly made the trip for me and I think she is a great credit to your company. I feel incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of meeting her in such a wonderful country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don’t forget your mozzie spray!

Fantastic and unforgettable trip

My first trip to Alaska far more exceeded my expectations with its majestic nature and landscape. The whole trip was extremely well organized by the leader and a relatively small size of group (6 persons) created friendly and cosy ambiance throughout the trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

To be exposed to the vast and beautiful landscape which was just about every moment of the trip, particularly when encountered wild animals. Camping and sharing responsibility among all participants were also inspiring.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Phil Novak was very professional guide, driver/logistician. His knowledge of Alaska and its nature, history and culture made this trip very interesting. He was very good at creating a friendly atmosphere among the participants which made this trip very enjoyable. He was extremely well organized in setting up our campsites and tents. He was also a very good cook! Good variety of food for breakfast and lunch and we very much enjoyed dishes he prepared for dinner. He was always conscious of condition of each participants and always helpful to make this trip as comfortable as possible.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Luckily we were a group was 6 for the maximum capacity of this particular travel designed for 12 persons. This must have made an huge difference in the quality and comfortableness of this travel, traveling more than 3000 kilometers in a 14-seater van. We also could use two mattresses each for sometimes on hard and bumpy ground. Organization of serving quality meals for only 6 person must have been much easier than serving for 12.

Tiger Heaven

I’ve seen lots of wildlife all over the world but the buzz you get seeing a Tiger is up there with the best. Traveling in what many see as the peak Tiger viewing period of April, I was lucky enough to come across 20 individuals, some fleeting, some ridiculously close. The supporting cast of other wildlife is also impressive. If you would like to see why, check out my video of the trip – https://youtu.be/1DJV8K421dA

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing a tiger suddenly appear out of the Jungle and then melt back into it. Early on in the trip we had one Tiger road crossing where we were the only Jeep there, will remember the Tigress stopping for a few seconds to look at us. Seeing Tigers is something different, you hear the alarm calls of the deer so you know there is a Tiger or Leopard somewhere nearby, but it's only by the skill of the guides second-guessing the Tiger's possible movement and a slice of luck which will result in a sighting. Sometimes you will join a large group of jeeps at a spot, sometimes you will find your own hopefully.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Krisha is the best, he has been doing this for several years now but still has the same excitement we had and knew his stuff.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Most has been covered in the other reviews, Jeep Envy (I didn't see a Sloth bear, the other Jeep did!) but I'm sure it all pans out. Yes, it can be pot luck on the guides you get and one left me very frustrated. Just try to accept it is what it is and help them find the wildlife. Be prepared for very early starts so you catch the golden hour. We were getting up at around 0430 and getting back around 11 am in the morning slots but soon learned to have a siesta before the meet-up again at 1530. It's not like Africa where you tend to see lots of animals, you have to seek them out so patience is needed. You may go a while and not see a lot, then a roosting Owl lifts the spirits as an example.
