Amazing Andalucia exceeded our expectations !
This trip was a great combination of walking in the beautiful countryside, visiting traditional villages, sightseeing in the cities as well as embracing the local culture & learning about the forna & floral!
The trip is great for people wanting to try a walking holiday as the walks only take a few hours per day, allowing for rest in the afternoons. On several days, you can choose to complete part of the walk & return to the hotel if you are struggling which some of our group did.
The Cortijo Rosario has a relaxed vibe so we felt at home straight away! The staff were fantastic & nothing was too much trouble for them! Additionally, the food was fantastic & gave us an authentic taste of Spain!
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing all of the wild flowers & birds on our walks!
We loved the variety of walks around small villages, meadows, cities to hills.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Miguel/Mike was a lot of fun & was excellent at tailoring the trip to our individual tastes so we felt that we got the maximum out of the holiday!
The weather was very hot which is not ideal for walking in but Miguel ensured that we took regular breaks & took iced water to cool us down so that we kept safe! He had excellent knowledge of the flora & forna in the area as well as the culture so we were well informed! We liked how he supported the local businesses by taking us to buy food, coffee etc & he has a very good relationship with both the hotel staff & the villagers too!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Please take suitable walking gear, ie walking boots not trainers & wicking clothes, not cotton, especially if it was 35-38F like we had! You will need a good 2 litres of water per day so reuseable bottles are essential! Visit Ronda if the option is available as it it stunning! Otherwise, enjoy discovering such a beautiful area!

A True Peruvian Adventure: Culture, Wildlife, and Breathtaking Scenery
I’ve just returned from an unforgettable 15-day adventure through Peru with Exodus Travels, and I can honestly say it exceeded all expectations. The itinerary took us through some of the most iconic and breathtaking parts of the country, including the awe-inspiring Amazon Rainforest, the legendary Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and the serene and culturally rich Lake Titicaca. Along the way, we also explored a number of fascinating towns and cities that each offered their own unique character and charm.
Peru itself is an absolute gem of a destination. The landscapes are incredibly diverse — from the lush, wildlife-filled jungles of the Amazon to the dramatic peaks of the Andes and the tranquil high-altitude plains around Lake Titicaca. Every day brought a new view, a new climate, and a new surprise. The natural beauty is jaw-dropping, and the opportunities for spotting wildlife, exotic birds, and unique plant life were abundant, especially in the rainforest.
What really brought the trip to life, though, was the people. The Peruvians we met along the way were warm, welcoming, and incredibly proud of their heritage. Their traditions, art, and way of life gave real depth to the journey. The cultural experiences — from visiting local markets to sharing meals with families on the islands of Lake Titicaca — added a richness to the adventure that I’ll never forget.
A huge part of the success of this trip was down to our exceptional guide, Holger Collantes. Holger was more than just a tour leader — he was a storyteller, a cultural ambassador, a problem-solver, and a constant source of knowledge and encouragement. His passion for his country was evident in everything he did, and his deep knowledge of local history, wildlife, and customs really enhanced our experience. He made sure we were well taken care of at every stage, from coordinating logistics to offering invaluable tips and insights. Thanks to Holger, we didn’t just see Peru — we truly experienced it.
Walking the Inca Trail was a personal highlight — challenging, yes, but incredibly rewarding. The sense of achievement upon arriving at the Sun Gate and seeing Machu Picchu spread out before us was indescribable. It’s a moment that will stay with me forever. Similarly, our time in the Amazon was magical — waking up to the sounds of the jungle, taking boat trips along the river, and spotting everything from monkeys to macaws was like stepping into another world.
All in all, this trip was an extraordinary journey through one of the most beautiful and culturally rich countries I’ve ever visited. It combined physical challenge, natural beauty, and cultural immersion in a way that very few holidays can. I cannot recommend it highly enough — and if you’re lucky enough to get Holger as your guide, you’re in for a truly exceptional experience.
Most Inspirational Moment
After days of trekking the Inca Trail — through cloud forests, ancient stone steps, and breathtaking mountain passes — the moment finally came. It was mid-afternoon, the mist had kindly cleared and the sun was shining for us across the Andes. The trail had been challenging, but each step had built toward this: our arrival at the Sun Gate, Inti Punku. As we made the final climb, tired but exhilarated, we stepped through the stone doorway and there it was — Machu Picchu stretched out before us, majestic! Unexpected emotion washed over me. After seeing so many remarkable Inca sites along the trail, I didn’t think I’d be so moved — but there’s a reason Machu Picchu is the most iconic of them all.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our group leader, Holger Collantes, was outstanding. His deep local knowledge, passion for Peru, and attention to detail made a huge difference to the trip. He managed logistics seamlessly, kept the group motivated, and shared fascinating insights into the culture, history, and nature of every place we visited. Holger truly looked after us — knowledgeable, kind, and completely professional throughout. An exceptional guide.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Train for the Inca Trail – It’s challenging, especially with the altitude. Regular hikes and some cardio beforehand will really help. You can do it though, listen to your guide and he will keep you at the right pace.
Pack layers – Peru’s climate varies a lot. You’ll go from hot and humid in the Amazon to chilly mornings in the Andes. Dress for practicality as nobody cares what you look like.
Bring good walking shoes – Well-worn, supportive hiking boots are essential for the Inca Trail and you can wear them pretty much every where else too!
Use trekking poles – They make a big difference on steep or uneven paths as they give you support and balance, you can easily hire them cheaply through your guide if you don't have any.
Travel light but smart – Stick to the essentials. Exodus gives good packing advice — follow it - I would say though biodegradable body wet wipes are essential for the camping as don't expect a proper wash!
Stay hydrated – Altitude can creep up on you. Drink lots of water and consider altitude tablets if recommended by your doctor. We got the tablets and it helped us, having said that one of the guys on the trek did it without tablets and he was fine. We all drunk lots of water and took it really steady.
Take it all in – Some of the best moments come when you stop, breathe, and soak up the views. Don’t rush it and don't forget to look back at the views and look up and around for wildlife - we saw heaps!

Most Enjoyable Trip
I recently completed an 8-day hiking tour in Mallorca, Spain. Each day brought a new adventure. The hikes were 7-10 miles a day. Most of the hikes were over moderate terrain interspersed with rocky paths. The hiking tracks allowed us to view dramatic coastal areas to beautiful mountain views. Our group quickly meshed with each other. The camaraderie made the trip more enjoyable.
Most Inspirational Moment
It is difficult to pick just one.

Jacob was an excellent guide. He was well versed in all aspects of our trip, from hiking to dining. He was fun to be with.

Camping is just the best way to travel through Namibia
We were a small group of 5. The campsites were scenic with tents put up around the shade of a tree, exotic birds in the branches. The tents were roomy for 2 and you could stand up in them. The mattresses comfortable at least 2 inches thick. The facilities a t the sites were always good – hot showers and a pool but usually no Wifi. Just have to get used to low level snoring from other tents! Huge armoured crickets – we loved them.
Most Inspirational Moment
We enjoyed seeing the wildlife but for us the dunes were incredible, the scale and colour at dawn, breath taking. Deadvlei with its skeleton trees, spectacular. The optional excursions at Swakopmond we highly recommend the 2 hour quad biking in the dunes - such fun, and in the afternoon we took a scenic flight - sit on the right side for brilliant view of dunes and wrecks. The walk to see the White Lady rock painting was a small adventure.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Ronnie and cook Reuban were an excellent team. Reuban had been cook for the prime minister and cheerfully cooked us delicious meals, catering for every diet. There was always a hand washing station before meals. There were miles and miles of driving through arid and semiarid desert and long days of bumpy gravel roads but we felt Ronnie always drove us safely. and then set up camp for us.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Don't bother getting a visa in advance as everyone joined the same queue at the airport, no fast track, and everyone filled in the same forms! Be prepared for delays - one of our group was in the queue for 2 1/2 hours ! Waterberg was a great place, it felt like entering Jurassic Park with all its security and gates, but the temp dropped and that drive back down in the open vehicle was freezing! Hats and scarves needed!
Craft market on the way back to Windhoek full of bowls and carvings but expect over intense haggling - we preferred to pick up a few souvenirs on the way especially from the Herero women.
Taste the best apple pie in the world at Solitaire.
Phones can be charged on the truck and also at each campsite there is an electrical point next to the tents.

Cinque Terre on the beautiful Ligurian Coast
Staying in Moneglia is a good choice as the 5 towns themselves are quite busy with tourists. Our guide Michele was great getting train tickets for short trips to different hikes. Our group was so cohesive that we all shared optional meals together.
Most Inspirational Moment
The views from high up the coast are spectacular and we enjoyed the beautiful scenes from several locations.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Michele does a great job handling all the details for transportation, lunches and dinners, and spending time with each of us to make sure we were doing well.
Since I flew from the US and was not in the Exodus arranged transport, I was very glad that Michele texted me beforehand to communicate the time and place to meet. That was much appreciated.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Make sure you are fit and prepared for a lot of steps up and down the hill on our walks.

Lovely coastal views every day
Lovely coastal scenery with time to visit special sites and buildings. Excellent leader Joao with very helpful Alex in support. A lot more off road tracks than I had anticipated and I never really got to grips with them, but the group members really tried to help me. Very good range of decent quality hotels and I especially liked the more rural locations. Very enjoyable evening dinners in a variety of restaurants and mostly very good lunches – and I really enjoyed the picnic on the last day.
Most Inspirational Moment
Ferry trip on day 1.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Very professional and helpful. Easy to talk to and friendly.
Advice for Potential Travellers
I hadn't fully appreciated how much of the cycling each day would be off road. I had no mountain biking experience and I would recommend getting in some practice in advance .

Italian Apennines: Walks & Wildlife is a great trip to rnjoy the pristine wilderness.
The area is beautiful, with snow capped peaks up to 3000 meters. The hikes are very doable, especially up to and back from the refugio. We visited the national parks and saw the good work that Rewilding Apennines is doing. Exodus donates the trip profits to them.
Most Inspirational Moment
Having the beautiful Abruzzo Apennines all to ourselves.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our guide, Filippo, has extensive knowledge of the area and its flora and fauna, and gladly shared it with us. From the hikes to spotting wildlife, to taking us to great places for some lunches and dinners, Filippo does a wonderful job and one can see his commitment to us and the work of Rewilding Apennines.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The usual, bring layers and rain gear. And be ready for a wonderful time.

Fabulous guides and trip
Rafael and Francisco from Algavarian Roots made this a memorable hiking, cultural and special experience. They were a fountain of knowledge and the visits to the olive making facility, the winery and the distillery added to the trip. Great hikes in various locations from the Monchique highlands to the coastal trails. But it was the caring guides who did it all. Driving safely, briefing us and Rafael helping and looking out for my wife on the steeper parts. They both were proud of this region and they and their families were connected to the land.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Come a day early and try to get these two special guys.

Highlights of ancient Greece
The trip is very comprehensive seeing all the major sites and some of the lesser known sites but all added to the sense of the sophistication of Ancient Greece. George our guide was able to bring these sites to life with the stories of Greek mythology. There are some long-ish driving days but the scenery is stunning and was a great opportunity to bond with the group.
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing the acropolis and the vast collection at the Athens archeological museum.
Thoughts on Group Leader
George was very knowledgeable on Greek history and culture, Greek ancient mythology and very engaging with random topics of discussion. He was very organised and the trip went without any glitches.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Touch up on your Greek mythology and try to add some extra days at start/ end of your time for Athens exploration and a day trip to the Meteora monasteries (the trip used to include the Meteora monasteries but this has been dropped from the itinerary now).
