Excellent and interesting trip

A good all round trip with a good balance between low key leisurely walking, wine tasting and exploring old medieval towns and cities.

Most Inspirational Moment

Local walk followed by lovely local wine tasting

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Friendly , professional, knowledgeable and a very good driver.

Primates & Dragons of Indonesia

It was a great trip. Exceeded all my expectations. Our guide Elly was brilliant and always on hand if we needed anything. The local guides that were used on various parts of the trip were also very good. On the 2 days spent in the forest in Bukit Lawang we saw Orang Utans within 20 minutes of leaving our lodge. Getting fresh local fruit in the middle of the jungle was a very welcome treat. Possibly the juiciest pineapple i have ever eaten. On the boat trip to Komodo and Rinca Islands the food was very good and fresh. Sleeping on the deck of the boat was great. Saw about 15 Komodo’s over the visits to the two Islands. the snorkelling off the both on numerous occasions was brilliant. Crystal clear waters where we saw loads of turtles and fish to rival the Barrier Reef. Bring an underwater camera, I didn’t and i’m sorry i didn’t. The only slight gripe i have was the walk to the volcano/lava fields. In my opinion this was a waste of time. Elly had asked us if anyone wanted to try Durian fruit. A few of us said yes, so Elly stopped at a stall selling it. Trying Durian fruit has been on my bucket list for a long time. It tastes as disgusting as it smells but I’m glad i tried it. Overall it was a great trip and one i would highly recommend.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the Orang Utans and the Komodo Dragons. Also seeing turtles while snorkelling.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Elly is a great guide. Always there if we needed us. The local guides we used during the trip were also great.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring good walking boots/shoes for the jungle. It had rained during the night we were in Bukit Lawang and the jungle floor was very slippery underfoot. If you intend to go snorkelling bring an underwater camera/go pro.

Great experience

Excellent walking holiday, which was very well organised. The guide was very friendly and made it a great experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walks were testing but a great achievement once we had finished. The group jelled very well and always supported by our guide.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Gizer the leader was excellent, always concerned that everyone was included and made it a great holiday. Very knowledgeable about local history, flora and forna.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A decent level of fitness is required as some of the walks are a stiff test.

Amazing Costa Rica

What a wonderful trip around Costa Rica with amazing guide Johnny Villalobos. Staying two nights at each hotel set the right pace. The food was very high quality throughout, although prices are close to European, so take plenty of dollars. Tortuguerro nature reserve and watching the turtles nesting was a massive highlight, along with the walks in the Jurassic like cloud rain forests. Make sure you take binoculars to see the wonderful array of wildlife as they are very difficult to spot in the jungle. Overall, it exceeded expectations as Johnny really made each experience so easy and interesting. Pura Vida!

Stunning landscapes!

An excellent holiday in an amazing country – we fitted so much into a week it felt like we’d been there for a fortnight! The tour has a great mix of activities in different locations from cities, to desert, to mountains, which gives a great flavour of Oman. The locals were friendly and welcoming, and the food was tasty. Our guide Zubair was very very good – full of information about the country and sites, very patient at answering all of our questions, a great sense of humour, and well organised to herd the group around to schedule. I’d recommend this trip!
Most Inspirational Moment

The desert and mountains were breathtaking.

A fabulous mountain adventure

I went with limited expectations, and had only seen a few Google photos and some YouTube videos. I knew it would rugged and mountainous, and quite probably wet. The forecast was 7 days rain, and we had a wet welcome. However, Uriel, the local sun god, smiled on us and we had a mostly dry week with some pretty wet moments. The walking is spectacular. There is predictably a lot of going up and coming down, and a fair bit requires poles and some attention as toy where you place them. It is green, and rugged rock. We were tested in terms of what we could do but I was lucky and we had a group of 7 who were pretty similar in our capabilities. Louis the guide is local, knowledgeable, professional and friendly, an absolute star. The hotel was basic but provided all our needs, lots of hot water, a drying room and excellent food. The views from your door are amazing.

Most Inspirational Moment

I simply can’t pick one, each day provided a new peak. The Carres gorge is pretty amazing

Thoughts on Group Leader

Louis was excellent, see above

Advice for Potential Travellers

You need poles, sensible walking gear, multiple layers ( at the worst point, at the peak of one mountain I had 5 on, but needed to strip them as we descended.) Be prepared for all weathers. Personally, I’d take a hydration bladder.

Amazing

A fantastic trip of a lifetime.

Most Inspirational Moment

Basecamp was the highlight. But the party on top of Gokyo Ri was my best memory thanks to Aayush's DJ skills. Chola pass was the hardest day but stunning. There is a lot of walking uphill on the way down!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tsheten was organised and knowledgeable. Kami was strong and steady (he knows just about everyone in the mountains!). Aayush was a bundle of energy and kept us entertained and motivated while ensuring we were all doing ok. Together they made a fantastic team, their skills complemented each other and we felt safe and looked after at all times

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't underestimate how hard this trip is, being at altitude for a couple of weeks is hard on your body!

Secluded trekking !

These treks are on paths less travelled which is both a blessing and a curse. Did not encounter many other trekkers as this area is someone secluded from heavy tourism. However the terrain is to be respected as is the heat and dryness of the sun. Steep climbs and descents as the trip notes explain. This part of the country is unspoiled and it is a privilege to explore it. Be prepared for sore feet and thirsty mouths as you must carry your day’s supply in water. Poles are a must as is confidence ! The hostel was very comfortable and the staff warm and welcoming. I appreciated the massage that was arranged for me on the free day.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were a few. One was when I completed day three (which ended with a refreshing swim) having been suggested not to do it as it was deemed difficult. Another was when I walked a few Km’s solo while the group summited on day 4. I was discouraged from that part but decided to walk a bit alone to find some solace and enlightenment. The third was finishing off the week and being told I exceeded expectations. However I never doubted my ability to persevere. This is why I trek mountains.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jose is very knowledgeable of the area, both geographically and historically. He has the week organized like a well oiled machine and is available to the trekkers throughout. He sleeps in the hostel and dines with the group after briefing us of the next day’s expectations. He makes our sandwiches in the morning which shows his nurturing side. He will tell you if he thinks your abilities may not be up to par for the upcoming trek. So not so much a cheerleader but a realist. You have to adjust to that vibe. But I would trust him in all situations. He was really a hands on guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You’ll need to carry a lot of water so take two large refillable bottles with you. There are thorns along the paths so although there is heat, I recommend wearing pants. Bring poles and a sun hat as well as a lot of sun block. Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. Only the group stays there so it’s relatively quiet. This trek is hard. The footing is unsteady and the sun is a factor to contend with. Book a massage on the free day

Epic!

I absolutely loved this trip. The country, the people, the culture, the sites, the food and our guide could not be bettered! Jam packed full of fabulousness!! It was my first Exodus trip, and my first group holiday of this kind, but it won’t be my last. Great mixed group of single travellers and couples who all looked out for each other. Everything was really well organised so I was able to relax and enjoy every minute. It’s a busy trip where you are active all day every day but there’s nothing too taxing and plenty of choice with optional stuff so you can wind it up or down to suit. I chose to do everything because it was all so fab! Jerash, Petra and Wadi Rum are spectacular. I recommend doing minimal research and allowing these sites to wow you when you get there!

Most Inspirational Moment

A small group of us did the walk up to the high place of sacrifice and back down via wadi Farasah at Petra. One of my favourite ever walks!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Just fabulous! Ibrahim is kind, organised, knowledgeable, interesting, funny and has a deep well of patience for dealing with mixed groups of people with different needs. He is everything you could want in a group leader and more.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I read that you have to wear modest clothing but everywhere we went was very liberal. Best to be respectful but no need to buy anything special. Wear good walking shoes/trainers. Expect to walk a lot at Petra! Remember to take a bag you can put overnight stuff in for the desert (you can’t take your luggage). If you are a softie for dogs and cats, keep some pet treats handy. I bought a local data sim but barely used it - there’s wifi in all the accommodation and in the bus. Everywhere else there was no 4G anyway. Embrace every opportunity and have an amazing time!

A fabulous cycling trip with lots of culture

What a fantastic trip. Great group, felt like I was laughing all the time. The leader, Michele, was full of energy and organised little extras that really made the trip memorable. The hotels were good too, particularly the masseria, and the cycling was great fun.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many. Seeing Matera for the first time, watching a local artist perform songs for us in his shop, and jumping into the sea from high up.
