Christmas 2023 Walking in Andalucia

Another fantastic holiday with Exodus with so much variety during the week walking and exploring in the Andalusian region of Spain with a superb leader Michael and a good day off spent in Seville. Stayed in a wonderful farmhouse with great hosts and food. A gem of a holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

Christmas Day walking in the Grazalema mountains with spectacular views and a truly outstanding area with so much ecology to take in. A truly breathtaking Experience shared with the group and leader. Secondly despite the crowds El Chorro gorge was a wonderful experience. Finally, really enjoyed walking from the Cortijo Rosario across all the olive farmland with amazing views and a lovely tapas lunch on one of the days.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Michael, a truly lovely person with so much local knowledge and passion for the surrounding environment. So helpful throughout the entire week and often went above and beyond to ensure we had a good trip and even planned our day off in Saville ensuring we made the most of the time experiencing the best spots to visit in the city with everything from start to finish running like clock work.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do visit Ronda on the optional afternoon activity to carry out as a very interesting place to visit.

Nile Cruise & Aswan - Premium Adventure

What a fabulous trip – Ahmed Gad is an amazing guide and teacher, and the trip was well planned and executed. I couldn’t speak highly enough about it.

Most Inspirational Moment

Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Philae, Egyptian Museum of Archaeology

Thoughts on Group Leader

FABULOUS - can't say enough about what a great guide and teacher Ahmed is

A Great Tasting Experience in a Different World

This was a trip of variety in a very different culture with plenty of different experiences. The Cuban people have a lively spirit, both in their rum and in their music and these are readily available through the trip from city to beach. The trip provides a great feel for the people, their lives, history, economy and their struggles. Although a poor country, the people and the visit were overall uplifting. The trip flew by but will remain a memorable visit.

Most Inspirational Moment

Drinking Cuban cocktails in the bars listening to the Cuban music and watching the Cuban dancing; walks around Havana, Cienfuegos and Trinidad; spending time on the beach in the Bay of Pigs; and of course, driving around Havana in a brightly coloured veteran US car.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader had a great knowledge of the country, the people and their lives, and was invaluable in navigating our way around ensuring we were kept safe, secure and entertained.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Food choices are limited, especially if you are vegetarian; take two-flat pin socket adapters; do not expect much wifi; take USD or EUR cash; buy rum, cigars and handmade crafts; take some small items of daily living for the locals (soap, paracetamol, etc); be prepared to see some poverty; and the airport is freezing!

Ecuador - What a wonderful trip

Ecuador is a wonderful country to visit. This trip had it all as we visited the famous cloud forest, the highlands, the volcano Chimboratzu, the Amazon forest, Cuenca, the Casaj national park and finally the mangrove glades. I would highly recommend going. The hotels were very comfortable and traditional. Our guide, Etiel, was excellent and imparted lots of useful information. The highlight of my trip was on Chimboratzu taking the pony instead of walking. I’m not sure I would have made it without that help. And then in Banos our guide offered to take us to the thermal baths at 5am. It was still dark when we went and the nearby mountain waterfall was lit up. Very magical. I was the only one to take up this very kind offer! Others definitely missed out (from my point of view). We decided to have two extra days in Quito at the start of the trip to get over jet lag and to familiarise ourselves with the city. One couple also did the same but had three days. They booked a guided tour each day. This is well worth considering as the additional accomodation cost is very small.

Most Inspirational Moment

Taking the pony up Chimborazu

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and if something did go wrong you never knew. He was able to sort everything out seemlessly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Arrive a day or so before the tour starts. Go the thermal baths in Banos especially early in the morning.

Nile Cruise & Aswan - Premium Adventure

We had a wonderful guide, Ahmed, who was knowledgeable, interesting and very attentive to every need of the group.

Most Inspirational Moment

Outings to the pyramids, temples and burial chambers with the wonderful narratives provided by Ahmed.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ahmed was terrific and his input was, in every respect, a huge asset. His attention to detail and his ability to meet each individuals needs was truly impressive

An unexpected gem of a holiday

A very varied trip in a green and beautiful land with palm fringed beaches and he warmth of the Indian Ocean. We covered 1600km and seemed to do it all, temples, wildlife safaris, historical ruins, adventure white water rafting, markets, tea plantation, botanical gardens, shopping, culture, beach. Name it and we were there! A comprehensive and very enjoyable itinerary.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many...The tranquility of the ruins atop Lion Rock, the amazing bird life, the leopard at Yala and the sunset over the lake, swimming in the warm Indian Ocean, the hanging parrots and sunbird in the date palm outside my window, the thrill of white water rafting (a first for me). All unforgettable.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Superb. Amazingly well organised. He coped with the different demands of our varied group with good grace, always pleasant, always polite, always fair and kind to everyone. A great job Sujan! Thank you.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Lots, but everyone finds their own way. Try everything. Don't forget plenty of sun block and plenty of insect repellent. An umbrella is a useful item. Best place to buy tea is not at the plantation itself because of limited stock and relatively little choice, but in Galle on Rampart Street when you walk around the old fort. T-shirts at the botanical gardens shop are decent quality. Take binoculars, really worthwhile, and a bird book if interested. There are kids at the farm visit, so a colouring book or 2 as giveaways may be welcome.

Nile Cruise & Aswan - Premium Adventure

This is my 3rd trip with Exodus and will continue to travel with you as I find the value for the price is very good and I believe that most needs are anticipated and planned for and things seem to flow very smoothly.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting all the archaeological sites was amazing. I had no idea how well preserved the temples and tombs were

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ahmed was an amazing guide! He was so kind and patient and knowledgeable in his explanations of the history of the lineage of the ancient rulers and meaning of the hieroglyphics. He has a wonderful sense of humor and felt more like a good friend welcoming us to his country rather than a hired tour guide.

An amazing scenic cycling tour!

My first cycling tour in Spain was a triumph of discovery, guided by the exceptional Miguel. Surrounded by a wonderful group, we pedaled through stunning landscapes across Spain’s Mediterranean Coast, savored authentic local cuisine, and immersed ourselves in the rich tapestry of culture. An unforgettable adventure, and definitely, more cycling tours to come!

Most Inspirational Moment

The whole trip was amazing!, we had a great group and guide, that made the trip that much better! My fav day was - .Cycling Through Ebro Delta National Park (Day 4): The ride through the Ebro Delta National Park was so scenic, calm, and peaceful. It was such a serene vibe cycling through this park, the lagoons and rice fields!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Miguel was absolutely amazing. His expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication elevated the entire experience and created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the trip!

Advice for Potential Travellers

E Bikes are a plus if needed!

What an amazing week!

I recently embarked on the Finnish Wilderness Week with Exodus, and it was an experience of a lifetime! Basecamp Oulanka is a charming retreat surrounded by forests and Juuma Lake. The week was filled with many winter activities, including snowshoeing in the snow-covered forests, cross-country skiing by the lake, and an unforgettable dogsledding adventure, despite being new to winter sports the guides were incredibly helpful and patient with us. The accommodation at Basecamp Oulanka was superb, offering warm rooms, and the provision of all necessary Arctic equipment made the adventure comfortable and enjoyable.

India

Fantastic holiday. Varied as covered mountains, tea plantations, jungle, backwaters and temples.

Most Inspirational Moment

Early morning walk around the streets, market and Sri Meenakshi temple Madurai.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Group leader Biju Kumar was excellent. Knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. First class.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Trip described as leisurely but walk around tea plantation exhausting. Also warning about leeches in the jungle and tea plantation and the need to take more than one insect repellent. Waterproof jacket needed.
