We were a small group of 5. The campsites were scenic with tents put up around the shade of a tree, exotic birds in the branches. The tents were roomy for 2 and you could stand up in them. The mattresses comfortable at least 2 inches thick. The facilities a t the sites were always good – hot showers and a pool but usually no Wifi. Just have to get used to low level snoring from other tents! Huge armoured crickets – we loved them.

Namib-Naukluft National Park Trips
Namib-Naukluft National Park is an ecological reserve in the Namib Desert in southwest Africa, thought to be Earth’s oldest desert.
The park is the largest game reserve in Africa and contains a surprising collection of creatures who manage to survive in the hyper-arid region, including snakes, geckos, hyenas and jackals. Some of the highly specialised desert dwellers include the Welwitschia plant, considered a living fossil, and the fog-basking beetle; life in the Namib depends on fog from the Atlantic rather than rain. Much of the area is inaccessible, but Namib-Naukluft National Park tours will give you the chance to appreciate its most prominent attraction, the Sossusvlei area, where high orange sand dunes surround vivid while salt pans.

Vivien Newrick Discover Namibia – Camping
Lawrence Mastin Discover Namibia – LodgesFrom sand dunes to rock piles to boat trips to game safaris, there is so much to see in Namibia, albeit separated by several hours of less interesting drives through desert scrub. But this trip managed to make it all interesting, splitting the longer drives up with short stops. The converted truck/bus (“Gogga”) was comfortable enough, even though the AC had problems coping with the 35°C + heat. Accommodations were good, and vegetarians were accommodated well enough.
Robyn Lewis Cycle NamibiaThis is the best way to travel round Namibia, you see such diverse landscapes and a variety of wildlife too! Travelling by bike means you get to see it in a different way, even though you have some very early starts it means you have the roads to yourself and the animals are out there waiting for you!
