Advice for Potential Travellers
If you like rice, rice and beans, mixed salads, fresh fruit, lean meats and fish, cassava and bananas, and an egg for breakfast every day you will eat well. If you are looking for sugar free or caffeine free drinks bring your own. Cuba runs on proper coffee and sugar. If you are bringing medical supplies to give away, children's medicines seemed particularly appreciated.
Suggestions
The Cuban people that we met were very polite, very welcoming and very resilient considering the economic difficulties which Cuba is experiencing. I would have like this tour to be longer, there were so many places along the way that I would have like to spend a week or at least a few days in to really explore. If I could suggest one real improvement it would be to arrange the flights on a better airline and charge a little more. I was not impressed with the food (awful), the state of the toilets or the cramped conditions on the long haul flights.
