Walking the Amalfi Coast in November

I am thinking of walking the Amalfi Coast in early November but have picked up mixed reviews from the internet regarding the weather. Has anyone done this trip at this time of year and what was the weather like? Many repports also say that many hotels, shops and restaurants close at this time of year. Is this just media hype or is everywhere like a ghost town. Aside from the walks, a bit concerned re having nothing to do on the free days, particularly if the weather is poor.

Am I worrying too much?

Would be great to hear from anybody who has been at this time of year.

There is also a possibility that I may be taking a friend with me who has never done a walking holiday before but is reasonably fit through playing tennis etc. Will she fiund this too hard for a first adventure?

Any other views/comments will also be welcome

Regards to all and thanks

Neil

Hi Neil
Firstly is a great trip and (when weather good) to die for walks and views. I went 4 years ago in Nov and our weather was a mixed bag. We had some great days - including the day we did the walk of the Gods but we also had some truly appalling ones including one on which there was nowhere for us to walk due to torrental rain overnight resulting in landslides so the guide brought us to Naples for the day. On our free day we went to Hurculamun because we had enjoyed Pompeii so much
Go with an open mind and (some waterproofs ) and hopefully you won't need the latter

Hi Neil,
Did you take the walk last November? We are also planning to walk Amalfi cost in the second part of November. We travel a lot in Europe in November, because we love it without crowds, but have never been walking in southern Italy. We understand that weather is unpredictable and wander where to base ourselves so we can hike when there is no rain and visit small towns when it is raining.
Thank you.
Inna
