Inca Trail & the Amazon (Fri 09 Oct 15 - Sun 25 Oct 15)

Hi,

I'm signed up for this trip flying out from Manchester UK. Anyone else booked on this adventure?

Hi DJ,

I'm on same trip dates but flying from London. Best, Iain

Me too - flying from Gatwick. Not had chance to think about the trip yet as I'm in the throes of a major house move :( Bad timing! I'm hoping I can delay completion until after the trip. Anyone know how many in the group? And did we all get passes for the Inca Trail? Jo(an)

Me as well - flying from Gatwick - very excited! Guess we'll spot each other with the green Exodus bag. Still not sure what to take in terms of clothing and layers - any ideas? Am off to the Lake District this week to get some training in (well that's my excuse). Look forward to meeting you all. Cheryl

Anyone know if we should take a mozzie net? I opted not to have the YF vaccine but I hear there have been cases in Cuzco. Also, can I suggest we meet up inside departures at Gatwick airport? What about Weatherspoons 'The Flying Horse' (south terminal, after security).

Hi all, I signed up for trip in June and was told there were no permits remaining for Inca trail so would be doing the moonstone trek instead ... Is this the groups understanding? Happy to meet up at Gatwick ... is anyone taking altitude sickness medication with them?

... it's Iain here, not sure how to change my name from anonymous?

I booked in time to get an Inca Trail pass and was told in May that six of us had them. There are now 9 (maybe 10) of us on the trip so I'm guessing we'll be split into two groups for Machu Picchu. And re: altitude sickness - yes my doc has given me some Diamox. With these and the anti-malarial tablets, I'll be rattling!!! And PS: although I keep ticking the box 'send me an email when someone posts' - I never get one! So soz for delay responding :)

Hi, Thanks for your response ... I decided in the end I wouldn't bother with Diamox but just take some ibuprofen ... we'll find out if it was the right decision!! Cheers for now, Iain

Yes packing is a problem. I'm trying to be really organised and only taking the absolute minimum - which means plenty of wicking tops, a couple of warm layers, hiking boots, trekking poles and waterproofs. I'm trying to squeeze in a dress - does the packing list really say 'shoes for the evening!!!' With the Exodus kitbag in my suitcase there's hardly room for anything else LOL
BTW I have a 30litre rucksack but decided it was too big for the Inca Trail, so bought another one - 20litre. Just read on a review that 20litre wasn't big enough for one traveller :(
And Iain - you may be glad you haven't got Diamox - I've just read on here that they cause mud slides in the nether regions LLLOL
