A beautiful week in rural Portugal

A delightful mix of road and offroad tracks for our 6 day route south from Lisbon. It was the perfect way to experience the rural and coastal beauty of SW Portugal in May. Our guide João briefed us each evening for the next days ride outlining coffee and lunch stops, the route and profile. Alex provided excellent support with the van to transport bags and provide cycle maintenance when required. João and Alex are local experts in the region and happy to share their experience and knowledge on all local matters, history, flora and fauna. Hotels and restaurants were of high standard throughout. I opted for an e-bike which reduced any worries about holding up the group. Highly recommend.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling by the sea

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book an e-bike if you have any fitness worries

Team Spirit

This was my first walking tour and I loved it. We had a wonderful guide Theresa and a great group. We also had springtime flowers, the cliffs, the water, and Italian food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking through poppies, olive trees, and lemon trees, and seeing the water.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Terrific, knowledgeable, organized.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I'm not sure what the difference is between walking and hiking anymore. I liked the walk, but be prepared for a more difficult walk than the Trip Notes indicate.

Superb walking, culture and food

A wonderful walking holiday in Andalucia with a good mix of hiking, scenery, culture and amazing food, particularly at the excellent Cortijo Rosario farmhouse that acted as “base camp” for the week. It included great days sight-seeing in Sevilla and Ronda and an introduction to the local wildlife and biodiversity.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking across the legendary El Caminito del Rey gorge and bridge - a bucket list item ticked off.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mike was amazing - always enthusastic, friendly, and a bottomless font of knowledge about the local area, Spanish culture and the walking itself. His trick of pouring ice water into your hat to keep you cool is the stuff of legend.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take lots of cash as not many places accept bank cards.

Another perfect Exodus trip!

Well organized and executed trip. Top notch staff. Very safe. Food exceeded expectations.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking thru the Sun Gate and seeing Machu for the first time!

Thoughts on Group Leader

William Mirano was the best Exodus guide I’ve ever traveled with. Assistant guide Ronald’s wealth of knowledge of native birds and fauna added to beauty of trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Focus on aerobic conditioning to lessen symptoms of altitude

Amazing cycling trip

This was an amazing cycling experience with breathtaking views that far exceeded my expectations. Everything was really well organized and thought through. My special thanks go to our guide Paolo – he is The Best. We also have been lucky with the weather and the traffic along Amalfi coast was pretty light. So, everything was just perfect!

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day presented us with something unique, but the ride along Amalfi coast was the jewel of this trip

Thoughts on Group Leader

Of cause this trip would not be that great without our group leader - Paolo. He made sure we've been treated really well at every place we went to.

Difficult to fault it

A super trip, exploring contrasting areas of southern Italy, led by an amazing guide, with a lovely group of fellow cyclists

Most Inspirational Moment

No single moment, but some enjoyable stand out experiences - the views along both Cilento and Amalfi coasts, the delightful lunches we enjoyed especially near Pisciotta with a wonderful host and at the buffalo farm, the views from Ravello after hiking there from Minori. All very enjoyable.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I had seen many positive praise of Paolo in reviews and he lived up to them all. A true gentleman, skilled and sociable guide, who did his best to give us the very best experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely worth doing. Take a range of clothing as the weather in mid May was unpredictable but temperatures made for comfortable cycling.

Perfect week

The trip was a perfect balance of hiking and culture . The hotel is good and run by a lovely family who are actively involved and who want to ensure you have a good experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

The final day hiking was particularly good and included a boat ride. It was a really pretty coastal hike, much of it is through forest. There was a good mix of terrain. The beach was beautiful and so interesting with the caves. We had time for a refreshing sea swim.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Michele is up there with the best guides I have met. He was engaging, informative and funny. He was helpful when it came to advice on our free time and at advising us on the planned days. He spent time getting to know us all and made sure we were all coping and comfortable. You can tell how much he loves his job.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The hotel and other restaurants we visited catered well for anyone with dietary requirements, and the food was always delicious. I recommend going to the Shepherds dinner which is an optional extra. It was one of the highlights. I think the moderate/level 3 rating for the trip is right. I hike and run a lot so had no difficulty but the hills will stretch some people not used to the terrain or heat. However the reward for any effort needed is the beautiful scenery.

A challenging but rewarding Cycling tour of 4 Balkan countries!

I struggled to find another company that offers such a unqiue tour like this one to see 4 Balkan countries. Having been to 4 of the other Balkans already I knew somewhat what to expect but Montenegro and Albania delivered some of the most beautiful scenery of them all by var.
The climbs are tough and hill climb training is really important if you want to enjoy some of the days, but once you reach the summit this is quickly forgotten, as others say it is stunning and some of the best routes I have cycled around the world.

Most Inspirational Moment

The long climb up through Durmitor NP was challenging, but the post-lunch ride all the way down through the mountains to Rudinice was incredible!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Rei (guide) and Rimi (driver) were both fantastic and nothing was ever too much trouble. They both are proud Albanians and were always happy to share stories and their culture with us.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack for all weathers and prepare for the hills! The temperatures on this trip vary a lot! We had cold mornings in the mountains but very hot days once we were cycling the bay of Kotor. And as others have mentioned it requires a good level of fitness, otherwise definitely invest in an E-bike to enjoy the holiday :)

An unforgettable adventure along the Atlantic Coast

My cycling trip along the Atlantic Coast from Lisbon to Sagres between 18-25 May 2025 was an unforgettable adventure. The detailed itinerary notes provided ahead of the trip were easily accessible online, making pre-planning very easy. The accommodation was generally of good quality, offering comfort and hot showers after long days of riding. We dined at outstanding local restaurants that served high-quality food with extensive menu choices, including regional wines. The bikes provided were robust and well-suited for the varied terrain. The organisational and logistical support from Alexandre Conceição (A2Z) was proactive and efficient (nothing was too much trouble), and João Colaço proved to be an exceptional Ride Leader. My only less than positive observation would be the assessment of the ride’s grading. This is graded as an Activity Level 3, however, given the significant amount of off-road cycling, including stretches on sand, consideration should be give to recategorise this ride to an Activity Level 4. The trip documentation should also highlight that approximately 65-70% of the route involves off-road cycling, as some riders were unprepared /inexperienced with the technical aspects associated with off-road elements.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling up a very high gradient to reach the Moorish castle in Aljezur!

Thoughts on Group Leader

João's ability to connect with every group member, regardless of their skill level, was exceptional. He kept both seasoned, technical riders and novice cyclists equally engaged and motivated throughout the tour. His infectious happiness and encouragement ensured that every rider felt valued and inspired throughout the journey. He was very well organised, conducting detailed briefings each day, ensuring the group were fully informed at all stages of the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a fantastic trip, great way to get off the beaten track and explore Portugal's villages and towns, but be aware that a lot of this ride is off-road with some sandy tracks.

Fabulous introduction to Peru

First time travelling with Exodus.
One of the best trips we’ve taken. Very well organised, great tour leader and lovely company of our fellow travellers.
Every day provided wonderful experiences. Awe inspiring scenery, changing landscapes, culture and history, the people we met and sites visited were just wonderful. We travelled many kilometres and had some early starts, but the comfortable transport and laughs on the way made it worth it. We had a full on experience of this beautiful Country. Thanks to Renato, our tour leader, everything went smoothly. His pride in his country was infectious.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many - Machu Picchu was epic. Seeing the Condors soaring in the thermals in Colca Canyon. The Homestay on Amantani with a local family and enjoying the simple but delicious food they gave us. The optional Sacred Valley tour was outstanding. Thanks again to Reno’s for arranging an add on to Sacsayhuaman, incredible! The food! Oh my amazing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Renzo was an outstanding leader. Fun, friendly, well organised and justly proud of his Country. He supplied us with lots of information, taught us some Spanish. Was a font of Knowledge about the history and culture of the Incas and other Indigenous people. He recommended restaurants and things to do in our free time, but was not pushy in his recommendations. He managed the chaos of the delayed train from Agua Callenties and somehow managed to get us on an earlier one! He managed the tipping kitty well and provided us with a summary. He monitored everyone’s oxygen levels on a daily basis at altitude and was careful in advising anyone with symptoms (Only were mild in our group). All in all, I doubt we could have had a better leader! He made the trip!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just do it. It’s a wonderful introduction to Peru. Fast paced and long days, but so worth it. The trip is well organised, the transport very comfortable, stops on long days are frequent. Accommodation is good. I wasn’t sure what to expect about the Homestay. But it was wonderful. Lots of safe drinking water provided by the tour leader, so bring a refillable bottle. Electrolytes and drinking plenty of water will help with the altitude.Bring sunscreen, a hat, clothing layers and shoes for uneven ground.
