Stunning scenery.

Wonderful scenery in a quiet, unspoilt area of the UK. Great group of fellow walkers and a friendly and enthusiastic leader.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cari was very dedicated and caring. She did her best to cater for all abilities during our walks and was good company in the evenings.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take good waterproofs !

Suggestions

I felt that the first day's walking was a little stretch too far. We got back to the hotel around 6.45 pm, having left at 9.30 am. We were all wet through and pretty tired and had just 45 mins to shower, change etc. before Sunday dinner at 7.30pm

Gower peninsula

Great walking with a very knowledgeable leader Ceri
Hotel poor. Room was dusty with lots of cobwebs
Cables hanging with no appliances!
Heated Towel rail not working and I felt that plumbing and electrical needed attention
Breakfast was very poor, cheap bread and random consistency
Two dinners included but the same menu
I would not recommend hotel

Most Inspirational Moment

Enjoying a swim on the last walking day Excellent walking Fabulous views Seeing a pair of choughs Gin tasting was fun

Ceri was knowledgable and kept a good pace Occasionally we had rather long to wait for return transport She organised dinners in the pubs in the village which as a solo traveller I appreciated

Give the Gower a go!

Really enjoyable short break walking the Gower Coastal path. The scenery is surprisingly varied – from salt marsh to rugged cliffs and vast sandy beaches. The walking is mainly on well defined paths with a few rocky sections. There are some steep ascents (rewarded by amazing views) and descents but they are relatively short. The Gower Hotel is a great base for the trip. The staff are really friendly and there is a nice bar and restaurant. We had an excellent local guide (Cari) who passed on lots of interesting info during the walks. She was also really helpful in arranging lunches and dinners for the nights we didn’t eat at the hotel. The visit to the Gower Gin distillery (which included a very generous gin tasting !) was an enjoyable addition to the itinerary.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cari was great - extensive local knowledge and a real enthusiasm for showcasing the best the region has to offer.

A spectacularly beautiful part of the country for a short break.

We had such a good 4 days of walking, lucky enough to be blessed with a friendly, chatty group and perfect walking weather, dry, mostly sunshine but not too hot. The route has a surprising amount of variety, shaded woodland, marshes, glorious golden sandy beaches, cliffs, coves, rocky shores and seaside resorts. The itinerary was relaxed enough to enable several members of the group to have a brief swim each day.
The unexpected opportunity to visit Gower Gin, a micro distillery, was thoroughly enjoyed by us all!
Be aware that, unlike many Exodus trips, this is not an all-inclusive holiday. This did result in a few problems organising food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Regularly being rewarded with such spectacular views after fairly modest climbs.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cari was enthusiastic, endlessly cheerful and worked so hard to make sure we all had a good holiday. It was such an advantage to have an experienced (Welsh-speaking) local outdoor activity guide, with all her local knowledge. As this was a new Exodus trip, with all the extra complications that resulted from COVID19 (erratic opening times and added time for service in cafes etc etc), she and the two members of Exodus staff who joined us for a couple of days, Claire and Sarah, did a brilliant job trouble shooting. All three were a delight to holiday with.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go! The Gower coast is beautiful and worth discovering. The walking is mostly gentle but with a few steep climbs and descents.

Suggestions

In these troubled times, we felt perfectly confident in the COVID19 precautions. We breakfasted in our rooms, wore masks on the minibus, had to provide evidence of vaccinations or tests and had limited numbers at tables when indoors.
