Great trip . Shame about the range of room standards in the chalet
The walks, guide, chalet hosts and food were all excellent. However there was a massive range in the room size/ standard/ noise level / view at chalet Chocolat . It felt very unfair to have paid the same as everyone else ( and booked well in advance: March 1st 2022) and yet I was allocated a very poor room . It was tiny with a small window onto the front gravel drive . The only downstairs room : adjacent to the communal lounge and a communal toilet and closest to the road . I really feel this room ( and the velux window room upstairs ) ought to be offered at a lesser price and never as a room share. The beds in room 5 ( my downstairs room) were about a foot apart both pushed against the wall with just a tiny shared bedside table between. I felt I had to lock the door when I was in the room as someone could easily mistake the toilet door and room 5 door.
Most Inspirational Moment
All the walks were great and distinctly different to each other in some way
Thoughts on Group Leader
Excellent
Advice for Potential Travellers
Make sure you are NOT allocated room 5
Reply from Exodus
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, Kathryn, and particularly for sharing such positive feedback about your tour leader. On the other hand, we sincerely regret that the room you were allocated fell below your expectations. There are variations between the rooms that our clients are allocated at the Chalet Chocolat, in size and layout as well as position within the chalet, which means that naturally some rooms are quieter than others or can lack a balcony view, as yours did. This is mentioned under the Accommodation section of our trip notes and we are confident that this allows our clients to set their expectations accordingly. We are aware, however, that an administrative mix-up resulted in another member of your group, who booked after you, receiving what could be considered a superior room and we are sorry if this felt unfair. I understand that our customer services team has been in touch directly to resolve your concerns, but we are disappointed that your experience was not as positive as you would have expected. We are glad that the overall trip was an enjoyable experience and hope that you will entrust your future travel plans to Exodus.

Great downhills
Cycling the hills – both up and down – was a thrill. And the last two days the flat village riding was charming. Traffic was a too heavy to properly enjoy the connecting sections. Accommodation was varied. Some lovely hotels. One rather damp and unpleasant hotel ( acknowledged as a fudge after covid closures). The homestay however was dire. Only 2 hours sleep after inconsiderate guests partied until 2 and then from 4 for an early start. Even without them however the homestay was going to to cause problems. Walls were quant but thin bamboo and the the whole place was seriously delapidated but still offering ~ 25 rooms.

Reaching the caldera rim on day 2.

Wira was keen, helpful and very efficient. Very personable. The whole team was too.
Advice for Potential Travellers
I hope you like rice! Vegetarians well catered for - I was nearly converted! Easy to avoid or indulge in chilli and spice.

A great holiday for the whole family
After covid delayed our trip for two years we were rewarded with an amazing experience on the Costa Rica family adventure. With four other families and a wonderful guide (Glenda) and driver (Jose) we saw stunning landscapes, weird and wonderful wildlife and enjoyed fascinating tours, thrills and spills and beautiful beaches – We saw and did so much on a busy, but well thought out itinerary covering both pacific and Caribbean coasts. A truly wonderful holiday.

She was amazing. Great fun but very organised and efficient.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Bring light weight running clothes as drying clothes in the wet season is tricky. Invest in a good poncho! Crocs would be a good additional item.

A Cultural Extravaganza
There is so much to see and experience on this trip. From the ancient historic castles and Old Towns, to the more recent era of Soviet and German Occupations, and finally to current times when we see modern vibrant cities and towns looking to the future with their own culture and traditions intact. There is a bit of everything in this trip – ancient and modern architecture, beaches, boat rides, museums, countryside, and great local cuisine.
Most Inspirational Moment
The Plokstine Cold War Bunker
Thoughts on Group Leader
An excellent enthusiastic leader who was able to impart knowledge at all times.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Visit the Maritime Museum in Tallinn, and take in one of the KGB museums in any of the cities. Also, the Museum of Occupation in Riga is excellent. A boat ride in Nida when visiting the Curonian Spit will take you within touching distance of the Russian border!

Amazing Family Holiday with Expert Guiding
We had such a great holiday which was made even better by having our guide Nostalia show us the way from start to finish. We were fortunate to see some very rare and unusual wildlife including Pygmy Elephants. With our guide’s help we were able to see some things that we would likely have missed otherwise: baby crocodiles, hornbills etc.
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing a herd of Wild Pygmy Elephants was a definite highlight. But, there were many amazing parts of the trip. Too many to count.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our group leader, Nostalia, was brilliant. She was knowledgeable about everything and her enthusiasm for conservation shone through. Don’t underestimate the value of having a good guide on a holiday like this!
Advice for Potential Travellers
The adventure lodge may not have hire boots to fit you if like me you have big feet. Folks in Malaysia tend to be smaller on average so size 12+ boots are a rare breed! Bring shoes that you can hose down. Remember that the accommodation is not supposed to be luxury. If you keep this in mind you won’t be disappointed as all accommodation exceeded our expectations.

Amazing family wildlife adventure
Memorable trip across Sabah taking in the best the island has to offer – all delivered by a brilliant & knowledgable guide.

Seeing groups of rare Pygmy elephants in the wild. Seeing orangutans families. Staying with a Bornean family in their home, exploring the foothills of Kinubalu.
Thoughts on Group Leader
10/10. Organised, knowledgeable, friendly and passionate. Nostalia is an exceptional group leader.
Advice for Potential Travellers

Fantastic moments
Namibia is a wonderful country, and in our experience full of happy people smiling! There has to be a lot of driving to see the main places, but it’s worth it.
Most Inspirational Moment
The trip to the desert, and to Etosha were magical. Some of us took a 4x4 vehicle over the sand dules which was very much worth the payment. Watching the wildlife come to you att he Okaukueja waterhole was excellent. We wended up having two nights here, and only one at Namutoni. This was good as the latter's waterhole is hardly visible and we never saw animals there.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Gabriel was excellent at helping us get the best out of all the activities.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Take eye drops for dusty eyes. And a plastic bag for your camera in the desert - if you drop it the iron oxide will damage the electronics. Your clothes will get incredibly dusty, but just accept that! The best place if you want small souvenirs is day 7 after you leave Brandberg - the craft market on the last day was disappointing.
