What a week!
We had a fabulous week in Chalet Chocolat, Chamonix. Tommy and Sol were friendly and welcoming Chalet hosts, the Chalet was well designed for our use and very comfortable. The walks were truly memorable – made so by our knowledgeable and encouraging guide Rob.It was an added bonus to be there for the UTMB – the Ultra Trailrunning Mont Blanc week. Rob made sure that we could watch the best bits and Chamonix was a real party place to be there then.
Most Inspirational Moment
Hard to judge - it was all good.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Very impressed with his knowledge and ability to lead a group with quite a variety of walking speeds. Very encouraging when it was needed and always there if you had a wobbly moment.

Memorable Egyptian Family Adventure
We recently embarked on the Egyptian Family Adventure with our two children, aged 10 and 13. Our guide, Sayeed, truly stood out – he was not only friendly but also exceptionally knowledgeable and impressively organized. From the moment we were picked up at the airport, Sayeed efficiently managed hotel check-ins and all our excursions, making the entire trip stress-free. The itinerary unfolded seamlessly, taking us from the bustling streets of Cairo to the awe-inspiring Great Pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx, perched on the desert’s edge, creating a captivating contrast between ancient and modern Egypt. These pyramids, with a history spanning thousands of years, are a testament to the remarkable ingenuity of their builders. Remarkably, the Great Pyramid, the largest among them, stands as the sole surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. In the afternoons, we had leisure time to unwind at our hotel, explore Cairo, or delve into the treasures of the Egyptian Museum, home to the world’s most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the astonishing golden riches from Tutankhamun’s tomb. Sayeed’s advice to rise early for visits to the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple was spot on. We also explored the Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple, and were treated to an evening light show at Karnak Temple, which vividly retells the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. Our journey concluded in Hurghada, a lively coastal resort perfectly situated for sea-based and desert adventures. After a midday meal, we embarked on a semi-submersible vessel resembling a yellow submarine, offering us a glimpse into the captivating underwater world of the Red Sea’s coral area. Snorkeling was also on the agenda, allowing us to explore the underwater beauty before returning to solid ground. Overall, our trip was a remarkable experience, thanks to Sayeed’s expert guidance and the meticulously planned itinerary. The Highlights: Our exploration of Egypt was a remarkable opportunity to discover many of the country’s iconic attractions. With knowledgeable and responsible guides, the trip was impeccably organized, making it particularly family-friendly. Egypt’s rich history and culture left a profound impression on us, making our overall experience truly exceptional. Accommodations and Transportation: The quality of our accommodations was commendable. This charming destination, characterized by its captivating allure and privileged location, boasted impeccable service overseen by a capable management team. The highlight was undoubtedly the expansive swimming pool, perfect for relaxation. The culinary offerings were equally exceptional, providing a delightful dining experience. The hotels consistently maintained a high standard of quality and demonstrated a strong commitment to respect and courtesy. Optional Tours and Additional Costs: It’s important to note that most of the tours in the itinerary are optional, not mandatory. This means that to fully immerse yourself in the experience, you’ll need to budget extra funds. Regrettably, the cost of these optional trips can feel disproportionate to the face value of the entry tickets to the sites visited. While independent organization is possible, it may not always be straightforward. In conclusion, the Egyptian Family Adventure provides an incredible opportunity to explore Egypt’s treasures and immerse yourself in its history and culture. It’s well-organized and family-friendly. However, it’s crucial to set realistic expectations regarding budgeting for optional tours and additional costs. Despite these considerations, our overall experience in Egypt was unforgettable, and we are actively considering another Exodus family adventure holiday for 2024. We extend our gratitude to Exodus for facilitating this enriching journey through Egypt.

Thoughts on Group Leader
Group Leader was an exceptional and highly competent guide. Sayeed was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly organized, which are all essential qualities for a tour guide. His ability to efficiently handle various aspects of the trip, from airport pickups to hotel check-ins and excursions, contributed to a stress-free and enjoyable experience for the travellers. Additionally, his valuable recommendations, such as visiting popular sites early in the morning, added to the overall satisfaction of the journey. Overall, Sayeed's professionalism and expertise played a significant role in making the trip memorable and successful for the travellers.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Egypt is rich in history and culture, so take the time to immerse yourself in the local heritage, visit museums, and learn about the fascinating history of the country. Be prepared for optional tours that may not be included in the initial cost of the trip. Factor in additional expenses for these tours if you want to fully explore the destination. Set realistic expectations for accommodations. Understand that local star ratings might differ from those in Europe, and be open to the local standard. In Hurghada, take advantage of water activities like snorkelling. It's a great way to explore the underwater world of the Red Sea.

Great guide, great views, great group... great trip
Wonderful from start to finish, Paulo our guide was amazing and took us places we just wouldn’t have gone without him. Loved the walk to Amalfi from the hotel and also walking the crater of Versuvius was a once in a lifetime opportunity (particularly when you see other tourists just being able to do a small stretch). Bomerano is a lovely Italian village and you do feel you’re away from the usual coatal tourist traps.

Stunning scenery and a great sense of achievement at the end
A huge thank you to our guide Mike who gave us excellent advice each morning and managed to keep us all motivated and together each day The weather is unpredictable with extreme heat for the first week and one day of rain, snow and ice so be prepared! The food was good, the hotels were clean although some were basic due to the remote locations. The staff were great. Some days were very tough but the views were worth it and Mike rewarded us with Jaffa Cakes and M&M’s.
Most Inspirational Moment
Finishing the climb to Le Brevent on our last day
Thoughts on Group Leader
I was inspired by Mike’s attitude to the mountain, he was determined that we would leave as little trace as possible of our visit. No toilet paper left behind😳❤️ He has great people skills and managed to keep everyone motivated
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be prepared for all types of weather even in August it can snow. Read the trip notes A light robe for the days when not en suite and a small poly bag to take away your toilet roll😵💫

Wonderful trip
A wonderful walking holiday in arguably the most stunning mountain range in Europe. Despite some mixed weather, the range and quality of walks was excellent. The base hotel is excellent, with very good facilities, including small gym, pool, sauna and steam rooms. All staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The restaurant provides good quality food generally but less so for vegetarians. Rooms are very clean and comfortable.
Most Inspirational Moment
The dawn walk to Tre Cime - simply stunning!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Jef is outstanding. He shares his knowledge of the area and environment and his enthusiasm is infectious. He is extremely well organised and provides excellent support and guidance to the group as a whole and very sensitively to individuals which was greatly appreciated. He is very approachable and sociable and certainly helped our group to simply focus on enjoying our holiday in good company.
Advice for Potential Travellers
If you enjoy walking in spectacular mountains then just book, you won't be disappointed. Remember the weather in the mountains can be very varied. We travelled in August and the weather ranged from warm and sunny in the valley to very cold up the mountains. Take full waterproofs, plenty of layers and hat and gloves - you may need them all! Take swimwear for the excellent pool, sauna, steam rooms etc in the hotel. If your guide offers you the opportunity to go on a dawn walk to Tre Cime, do it! One of the most spectacular and memorable walks I have ever been on. Certainly worth the early start.

Fantastic adventure
An amazing adventure holiday that the whole family loved. It was a perfect balance of wildlife adventure and opportunity for my 9 year old to play at the hotel pools and beaches. she enjoyed the wildlife adventure part just as much as the pools and beach. I thought we managed to get so many things into two weeks including a few of the options. We all thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and would recommend it to anyone interested in nature.
Most Inspirational Moment
We loved seeing all the wildlife in their natural habitat, especially the sloths, Toucans, scarlet macaws, iguanas and monkeys. The night time green turtle trip was amazing and the boat trips in Tortuguero stand out. It was also great to hear that tourism is contributing to protecting the wildlife as it give income to people as well as the banning of single use plastics in the national parks.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Alejandro was brilliant, very knowledgeable and always happy to go out of his way to help and organise things. Chico the driver was also excellent, often spotting wildlife and stopping the bus so we could see and take photos.
Advice for Potential Travellers
If you want to take photos then at least a 100-400mm lens is recommended. I got some amazing photos using this. If you only want a compact camera then 20x optical zoom or would be good. Dollars are widely taken and often prices are quoted in dollars. Colons are easily available from ATM and a lot of ATM will give dollars or Colons. Visa and Mastercard also very widely taken. (check if your bank charges a fee, mine doesn’t) Take an insulated water bottle, I appreciated having cold water during the day having filled it from the hotel water cooler.

Fantastic Trip & Team
The week at Chalet Chalupa was amazing! The hosts, Adrian & Helena welcomed us with bright smiles! The hikes were beautiful, even if the weather didn’t cooperate. The chalet was clean, and felt very comfortable. Augustin, our guide, was informative and took the whole group’s abilities into account. Things were well organized & went smoothly. The food was fantastic! All the meals were abundant and able to recharge all the calories we lost! Adrian, Helena & Augustin really went the extra mile to ensure we were happy. I enjoyed Chalet Chalupa & the Mont Blanc Highlights.

Another great Exodus trip
A great holiday. Stunning scenery, great hikes and an excellent leader. The spa at the end of the day is a great place to relax.
Most Inspirational Moment
The sunrise walk to the Tre Cime (Drei Zinnen) - one of the best hikes I’ve ever done. It was well worth getting up very early to start walking at 4.45am. We had the benefit of the full moon and didn’t need to use torches as we began walking under the Tre Cime. We reached the saddle and the Tre Cime hut before sunrise and then settled down and watched as the day’s first rays of sunlight hit the top of the peaks. An absolutely magical moment. One of the other benefits was that we were at this iconic area before the crowds arrived. As we descended, the rest of the hiking world were climbing up. Thank you Jeff for proposing this.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Jeff was an excellent leader. His briefings were clear and he commanded respect from the group. I felt safe hiking with him and felt he would be able to deal with any eventuality. He bonded well with the group and had a good sense of humour. He was passionate and very knowledgable about the natural world. He imparted his knowledge in an interesting and enthusiastic way.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Take your swimming stuff so you can use the spa. Even if you don’t feel like swimming you can relax in the sauna or steam room at the end of the day. Consider hiring bikes on the free day. It was our first experience of e-bikes. They were great on the 20 mile, traffic free cycle route to Cortina. If you want to get some exercise use ‘eco’ up the hills, if you want a more relaxing experience put it into ‘turbo’. Take plenty of layers and hats and gloves. It can get cold when you stop at the top of the mountains even in summer. If you get offered the sunrise walk - go for it!
