NATIONAL PARKS OF THE WEST

This was an absolutely amazing holiday that met and exceeded my expectations! We went from one breathtaking moment to another everywhere we went.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walk through The Narrows at Zion was glorious - you do need waterproof shoes/sandals for this as there are large and slippery rocks to negotiate, we didn't need a wetsuit but we did have our swimwear on just in case it got particularly deep. I also loved the Monument Valley jeep tour with the Navajo (stay for dinner and you'll drive back under the stars) and Bryce Canyon and its Hoodoos were 'awesome'.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex was fantastic! He took very good care of us all and was extremely well organised and knowledgeable. Often the group split up to do different walks or activities and he always made sure that could be accommodated. He was endlessly patient, despite our constant stream of questions about everything from the colour of American cheese to gun legislation, and he did his upmost to ensure that everyone was having a great time.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely take waterproof sandals/shoes so that you can do the Narrows walk. Take a good camera (plus charger) as there is so much you will want to take photos of. Unless you can read on a bus, don't bother taking a book as you won't have time to read during the day and you will be far too tired to read at the end of it!

PERU EXPLORER

This was a trip that made you feel you had experienced Peru not just had a holiday, this was due to the variety of the places visited and the excellent guides.  The trip was non stop and you need to be prepared for the fact that you have early starts and a lot of travelling and not a lot of down time but how else could you see so much in three weeks? I would do it again tomorrow.

Most Inspirational Moment

Machu Picchu obviously is what most people and myself went to Peru for and it did not disappoint, the achievement you feel when you trek, reach the Sun Gate and look down towards Machu Picchu cannot be described but also the Peruvian people who made us feel so welcome and their smiles were contagious, it is such a colourful country beautiful.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Wilbert looked after us all and made sure that we were getting what we expected from the trip and more, he shared his wealth of knowledge, his love for his country, people and beliefs and he was very careing and considerate. We all felt so sad to say goodbye to "Papa Wilbert" as we called him and he will forever be thought of with affection by us all I am sure.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travellers Cheques are difficult to change and I would not take them if I return, also when you change US dollars to Sol ask for small notes at the bank as these are needed and large notes cannot always be changed outside of the cities. We flew from Heathrow to Madrid so to have a few Euros to get a drink or snack if needed is a good idea. Toilet roll is a must as not all toilets have paper and plenty of wet wipes or hand sanitiser. Make plenty of notes on the little things the guides tell you about or things you do, you can read up on other things in the guide book but as you see and hear so much you may forget things, notes can be read when you get home and relax to help you remember the little things that made the trip extra special. An extra day in Lima at the end would have been a good option as we travelled straight from the rainforest which meant you had an extra flight and travelling time on an already long journey also a nice hot shower before travelling would have been good.

MT TOUBKAL CLIMB

I have just come back from my trip in the Atlas mountains and it has been a really extraordinary experience. Not only were the landscapes stunning throughout our journey but the view at the top of Toubkal was amazing! The simple and happy life of the Berber people is truly inspirational and I hope to carry that forward with me in my day-to-day life.

Most Inspirational Moment

I have loved every minute of the trip but definitely Summit Day was the most inspirational moment for me! A great personal challenge, both mental and physical and what an achievement to be at the top! What I have also truly enjoyed was being disconnected from everything and going back to what really matters. Like the Berbers would say, only two things are important: good health and happiness!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Lahcen was funny, kind, open-minded and very helpful. Always happy to answer any questions we had and share the fascinating life and culture of the Berbers.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Prepare for both warm and cold weather. Although for us, Summit Day was rather warm, it can be very windy at times. Make sure you have the required level of fitness and can follow the pace set by the group leader (which is honestly perfect), especially on Summit Day, so as to not penalise the whole group. If you are interested in helping out local communities, please bring pencils or books for the kids. As we walked through the mountain villages and met with children there, I wish I had pens with me to give to them!

CYCLING IN GREECE

The tour is very well organized and operated by knowledgeable guides who were able to tell us about Greek history as well as showing us the pertinent sights along our route.  The bicycles which were provided were in very good shape and the guides maintained them well during our travels.      The accommodations were excellent with hospitable hosts in each place.  While the meals were not included in the tour, the guides were very responsive to the group in chosing restaurants each day which enabled us to taste the delicacies of the particular region.   I particularly appreciated the sensitivity of our guides to the environment.

Most Inspirational Moment

I really appreciated visiting the large amphitheatre at Epidaurus, which gave me a strong sense of Greece being the cradle of western civilization.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christiana was superb, not only in her organization and knowledge but in providing a very personal touch in leading the tour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be sure to allow a few days in Athens before or after the tour.  Also, be prepared for hot weather even in May!

ESSENTIAL PERU

Excellent trip if you want to see as much as possible in time available. Long journeys but broken up and comfortable transport. Marcial our guide was excellent – thankfully he had a great sense of humour!

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to beat Machu Picchu but Lake Titicaca and Colca canyon came close. The scale and diversity of the landscape is amazing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Marcial our group leader was excellent. Great sense of humour and knowledgable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you want to see as much of Peru as possible in a short timescale go on this trip.

CYCLING IN GREECE

If you want to combine activity, culture and food(yes food glorious food!) then this is the holiday for you.

Most Inspirational Moment

The fabulous scenery and humbling archaeological sites were all inspirational

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christiana was the perfect guide. Patient, fun, inspirational, enthusiastic and always eager to please( especially if you're a foodie !!!)

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it....absolutely no evidence of the financial worries that the country is suffering from....crisis, what crisis?

WALKING IN ANDALUCIA

Excellent hikes, beautiful country house-like a week in the mountains with friends!

Most Inspirational Moment

Hiking in the natural parks and stopping to admire both the fantastic views and wildflowers. We felt a million miles away from work and everyday life. Upon returning from a day's walk, there was a great swim in the pool and then a gourmet quality meal with congenial people. Relaxing and yet invigorating--doesn't get better than that!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Chris was helpful, always giving us a good sense of the walk ahead.. He was friendly, supportive and knowledgable, providing us with the histor of the region and a sense of the culture.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring hiking boots and poles. Although the trip is billed "leisurely/moderate," it is more moderate than leisurely--be prepared.

MOUNTAINS & VILLAGES OF EVIA

Our guide Thanos is incredibly well informed with lots of interesting information on the area and is long history. It was well organised and the food was amazing each evening in different tavernas. The walks were at times challenging up and down and along goat tracks and a walking pole was a great help!

Most Inspirational Moment

Arriving at the top of Mt. Ohi and seeing the magalithic structure of mysterious origins...how was it constructedat 1500 metres with huge hewn rocks??

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent source of amazing knowledge and well organised.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A reasonable level of fitness and suggest you take a walking pole(s).

WALKING IN SARDINIA

A lovely Island. Great scenery, food and wine. The walks to the Gorge and to Tiscali were very interesting and well worth the effort. I enjoyed to day sightseeing, we ended up on a beautiful almost deserted beach.
The hotel was very comfortable, with excellent food, the only downside was the lack of any outside gardens to relax in after the days activities, though there was a terrace.

Most Inspirational Moment

The high sides of the Gorropu Gorge were awesome. Grotta degli Ispinigoli was well worth the visit with its huge column and the Bue Marino Grotto too. The climb to Tiscali was tough in places but well worth the effort.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eric was excellent. Very helpful, patient and sociable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you like the med with scenery, peace and quiet, good food and wine , then this could be the place for you. I would love to go back and see more of Sardinia as this trip concentrates on a very small area of the island.

DISCOVER COSTA RICA

2 Weeks in Costa Rica was a dream come true for a nature lover like me. I loved the lush tropical forests with blooming gingers and heliconias everywhere.

Most Inspirational Moment

I like to learn about local life and culture so I was really pleased to visit a rural dairy farm. We also went dancing at a local bar in La Gamba....ask your guide to take you there.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Gustavo was a fabulous guide. I also have to give kudos to our driver Pablo for his driving skills.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for rain. Our tour started mid-May which is the start of the rainy season and it rained everywhere we went, sometimes for a short time and sometimes for hours. You will need an umbrella, poncho and waterproof footwear.  I'm somewhat of a foodie so I do have to add that I was disappointed with the food in Costa Rica. Overall I found the food expensive, bland and uninspired at most of the lodges and restaurants we went to.   I do recommend lunch at the organic farm in La Fortuna, they prepare local dishes from ingredients grown on the farm.
