KERALA & TROPICAL INDIA

An absolutely classic trip.  If you only do one cycle trip then this should be the one.  The cycling is fantastic with very relaxed quiet roads (mostly), the scenery is stunning, and the food excellent. Add to this the lack of transfers, the houseboat experience and the variation in terrain and it has everything you could ask for.

Most Inspirational Moment

In no specific order:the scenery is just outstanding.  Great variation and amazingly exotic.food fantasticall the locals so friendly and welcomingthe hill climb to Ootythe beautiful houseboat trip

Thoughts on Group Leader

Really top class.  Totally organised, incredibly helpful and ensured a completely relaxing trip.  These guys really make the difference between a good trip and an outstanding trip.  Orchestrating 16 Europeans through all the logistical challenges is a big ask (!), and our team were fantastic.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Getting cash from ATM's is a pain as most won't work.  So best take Sterling and just exchange it at hotels.  The rate they give is as good as the airport (or credit card) and everything is so cheap out there anyway it doesn't matter if you lose a few rupees in the process.

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - LEMOSHO ROUTE

An outstanding trip, well organised and supported. If you want to get to the top of Kili book onto this trip!

Most Inspirational Moment

Summit morning, after a week on the mountain and a vey early start on the last approach day, what a reward, sunrise over Africa.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abraham (Chief Guide) and George & Joseph (Assistant Guides) were superb, they know the mountain intimately and were always there to help the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

To enjoy this trip, get fit & kit up appropriately, you are considering the summit of a proper mountain. Read the exodus kit list and ask questions. Proper boots, quality warm / sun protection and wet weather kit are essential as are basics like walking socks and water bottles.

A WEEK IN JORDAN

Fresh from a week in Jordan where i had a faboulous time. Brilliantly organised by Exodus and well looked after out there. Very happy to have gone and would recommend trip to everyone!

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra and Wadi Rum were the highlights, nature at its best!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ali was brilliant, friendly, knowledgable, funny - everything the make the tour even better.

Advice for Potential Travellers

for december time, pack light but warm clothes can get very cold, especially in the Wadi Rum. Enjoy the scenery and the friendliness of the people.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: KVITAVATN

This was an excellent holiday, accommodation was good, food was excellent, teaching, terrain and company all siperb.  The staff are very friendly the instructors Chris and Ilse are very experienced in XC skiing and taught us well and went the extra mile to making sure we had fuind and learnt XC skiing at the same time.  With additional stretching after a hard day, in the mountians or on the recognised routes and XC lessons in the evening. The scenery and history is tremendous and this brief glimpse of Norway that will have me coming back for more. Will definitely be back.

Most Inspirational Moment

I had several but I did

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ilse and Chris are excellent teachers in XC and are clearly passionate and enthusnjnn about the sport and I could ask any question about XC, the terrain and the history of the local area.

Advice for Potential Travellers

To enjoy this holiday dewfinitely take the advice and have a few sessions in the gym before you go is a worthwhile investment. If you want to go to the museum in Rjuken ask the guides how to get there and when to go.

DISCOVER COSTA RICA

Amazing trip that explored many different aspects of Costa Rica, and enabled us not only to see colourful birds and new animals but also to gain some understanding of the country and its people. Action packed but well balanced with plenty of choice in things to do.

Most Inspirational Moment

We were on a boat outside Tortuguera when we spotted an anhinga (a relative of the cormorant) with something trapped in its beak. Primo our boatman pulled in amd managed to capture the bird and members of the group cut free a scouring pad that had become entangled in its beak. Without that action it would have drowned trying to fish or died of starvation. This action embodied the concern for the environment that we saw in many places. Later on a catamaran in the Pacific we saw a pair of mating sea turtles (poor things, all that ocean and they had spectators....)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Gustavo was an excellent group leader - tireless, cheerful and always informative and helpful.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As well as the expected heat and humidity, be prepared to be cold(!) in the high cloudforest, and always be ready for rain!

ESSENTIAL PERU

A full on two week trip around a beautiful country

Most Inspirational Moment

I really enjoyed the homestay on the island, other highlights were the Ballestas Islands, Machu Picchu, the condors, and the amazing scenery that we had throughout the trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Carlos was great, timings were on, good restaurant recommendations and information about places

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a really busy trip with lots of very early starts, long days on the bus and therefore early nights. There was a correct balance of guided bits and time to wander, but not much down time at the hotels. Be organised with your packing, and do laundry in Cuzco. ATMs are widely available, also banks to change money but USD must be in pristine condition. Average cost for a decent evening meal in a nice restaurant was £15 - £20. Cuzco handicraft market is the best place to buy souvenirs - eg woollen products, on the whole trip. Altitude sickness wasn't a problem if you drank plenty water and rested up. Only thing missing was a half day walk in one of the beautiful canyons.  Take fewer clothes than you think you might need.

EVEREST BASE CAMP

A trip of a lifetime, stunning scenery, some of the friendliest people I have ever met who have so little but give so much!! One off the bucket list. AWESOME

Most Inspirational Moment

So many to be honest but here's a taster. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla..... an emotional rollercoaster. Our first view of Everest. The valley walk and climb up to Namche Bazarr & our last beer! The village of Thyjangboche, the monastery and a sunset that was just incredible across Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. A truly special and spiratual place that will always be a part of me. Chukpo Lari a memorial to all the climbers who have passed on Everest. Finally the final trek to Base Camp and the climb to Kala Patthar. The scenery and views are breathless, excuse the pun!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Passang was a true leader!! Leading from the front, back or middle of the group. EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE, highly respected and could not have led or looked after us any better. Thank you.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bladder packs are fine until you get to Gorak Shep. Take diamox!! Enjoy

MOUNTAINS & VILLAGES OF EVIA

I have never been on an organised group holiday trip before, but have travelled independently regularly, so it was with some trepidation that I joined the trip to Evia. I need not have worried- the company was fantastic and having a knowledgable guide brought the walking experience alive in a way that I would never have acheived travelling by myself.

Most Inspirational Moment

The day climbing up Mount Ohi to the Temple of the Dragons, then the long descent back to the coast. The mist/cloud came and went as we explored the temple- it has been there for the same time the stones have stood at Stone Henge and you imagine all the generations, nationalities, and motivations of the people who have visited the Temple of the Dragons over the millenia.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic! His local knowledge, contacts and passion for the area really made the experience memorable for me.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Wear a good pair of boots.

ICELAND NORTHERN LIGHTS

Overall a fabulous trip – expect alot of time travelling (hazard of the desire to go further afield than just the usual ‘Golden Circle’ combined with ever changing weather conditions), but then you get to see some incredibly beautiful sights. When you come home and think about all the wonderful lasting images you have seen and things you have done you will wonder how it all fitted into 5 days!

Most Inspirational Moment

Viewing photos of stars taken in the pitch black - we had never taken time delay shots at night before so seeing amazing images of the glacial lagoons and the milky way was nothing short of astonishing, (with a hint of the Northern Lights thrown in that was tricky to see with the naked eye, fab results!). We found our fellow exodus-explorers all really helpful with hints & tips on night-time and low light photography, all much appreciated!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic. Kristjan is a man than can do everything. Tour leader, crampon wielding, bus driving, (& what driving conditions! Ice, ice ice, snow storms ...!), biscuit supplying, magic lunch producer, hot drinks maker, lava caving instructor, information souce, photography improvised genius. Is there nothing this man can not do? Friendly, knowledgeable and never seems to need sleep. Kristjan deserves a gold medal for energy and improvisation!Kristjan is just the nicest and enthusiastically most sincere and generous person you could ever hope to meet.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't over pack evening gear. This trip is all about getting out there and cramming in as much as you can. You do cover big distances so have long periods of time travelling on the bus but the scenery changes every few K's so you just dont tire of the incredible scenery. Take a tripod if you're into photography and a small low level light torch so you can see where your gear/shutter release is!

UNDISCOVERED ATLAS

You really feel like you have entered another world – the landscape is wild, barren and astonishingly beautiful.

Most Inspirational Moment

The view from Jebel Siroua is just stunning - you have an amazing 360 degree view of the craggy mountain ranges and the snow topped High Atlas mountains in the distance. It's an incredible landscape - dusty mountains and a clear sky. It's so peaceful, empty and so very far from any kind of human life. It looks kind of lunar - it's spectacular. And, at night, the starry sky is worth being a bit cold for!

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader is great - he is passionate about what he does, is knowledgable and enthusiastic and is great at bringing people together. As he is local he knows the area, the people and the history of his country really well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are travelling in winter (I went 1 - 8 Dec), invest is a really good goose down feather jacket. Mine was lent to me by a friend and was the envy of all! It can get pretty cold at night so make sure you have enough warm clothes, and, it's warm in the day so definitely bring the suncream. And a spare camera battery... That's something I regret not having!
