Daytime high temperatures usually hover at only around 2-3°C and nights are a frosty -4 or -5°C, and even colder at times.

Is this trip for you?

Exodus offers cross-country skiing holidays to suit a wide range of technical and physical levels. Our cross-country skiing grades reflect both the level of physical fitness required and the level of skiing experience required. They are comparable to the activity levels we use on our snowshoeing, cycling, activity and trekking holidays, however we believe a slightly different system is required, due to the tuition we provide on our holidays. This sets our cross-country skiing holidays apart, as we tend not to need to teach people how to ride a bike or walk. The aim remains to create groups of similar ability and fitness. Our descriptions are below, however feel free to call and speak to an expert if you are unsure which grade or type of holiday will suit you best.

This trip is is accessible to anyone with intermediate (level 3) cross-country skiing ability. Previous experience of ski touring or point-to-point cross-country skiing is not necessary. Each day we ski from one village to another using prepared tracks (loipes), although on occasion we may ski small sections off track. There will be sections that involve going up and down slopes so it is important that you know how to snowplough.

Grade 3 - Intermediates

A grade 3 week is ideal for those looking to push on, tackle some slightly steeper terrain and cover more ground each day. Typical groups will have a few weeks skiing behind them, be very comfortable with the basics and happy on longer day tours. There will still be tuition on these weeks, at the required level.

Accommodation

Gasthofs and Hotels

We stay in a mix of family-run hotels and gasthofs (pensions/B&B style accommodation). The accommodation is comfortable and everywhere we are welcomed with wonderful hospitality. Please note that twin rooms often have a large single bed frame with two seperate mattresses (and separate duvets and blankets) so they cannot be seperated.
