TPG - Galapagos: In Darwin's Footsteps

Hola Fellow Travellers,

I think I was the last to book on the tour, and so I expected to find at least somebody who had registered on the Cafe Forum to make contact with others before the tour.

I'm very much looking forward to the trip and meeting you all.

I've booked land-only and so won't be on the group flights from / to London. However, I am arriving in Quito around the same time as the group, so hope to meet up shortly upon our arrival.

Hi,

I'm a young 69 year old from Yorkshire booked on the tour and really looking forward to it and meeting up with my fellow travellers.  I love all aspects of wild life and nature and this trip has been on my "wish" list for a long time, so hope it lives up to my expectations.  I shall be travelling on my own, so if you see me with an Exodus bag at the airport come and say Hello to me.

Hi Sue,

Nice to hear from you. Where is everyone else? Maybe they're not aware of the Compass Cafe Forum?

Like you, the Galapagos have been on my wish list for some years too. I love wildlife, but most of my trips over the last few years have been principally based around trekking - but always keen to combine this with wildlife along the way. I suppose my last proper wildlife trip was a tour of Costa Rica in 2008, which was superb.

Like you, I'm a single traveller. Part of the fun with these trips is getting to know a new set of people.

I look forward to meeting you in Quito.

Hi Tim,

Good to hear from you.  Perhaps other travellers have been put off chatting on the Forum by the hassle of registering with passwords and lots of other personal info. It nearly put me off.

I have been on several Exodus trips before though usually with friends in Europe, and though I have travelled on my own before, never long haul.  I have always found everyone very friendly and a good mix of personalities.

Hello Sue (and anyone else who may be reading this),

I have received a request from Exodus to provide them with a copy of my passport so that Aerogal can issue our tickets for the domestic flights. I have provided Exodus with a copy of my passport, but find this request from Aerogal most unusual and have asked Exodus to confirm that this information is being used for legitimate purposes.

By the way, my travel arrangements have changed and I'll be arriving in Quito 1 hour after the group flight arrives in Quito - so I may not meet you until breakfast on Sunday morning.

Have a safe and relaxing trip and see you in Ecuador!

Kind regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,

I have not had a request from Exodus for a copy of my passport for Aerogal, though I had to supply details of number, expiry date etc. for my flight from the UK, so they already have my details.  Perhaps it is because you are not flying with the group and they want to prebook the flight to the Galapagos, though I can understand your aprehension with all the scams that go on these days.

I look forward to meeting you in Quito.

Regards,

  Sue J

Thanks Sue for the update. Perhaps you're correct that I have been asked for additional information because I'm not on the group flights - but there is an obvious inconsistency here if you and the rest of the group have not been required to provide copies of your passports.

See you in Quito.

Tim
