Hi,

Apologies if this has already been posted but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the total end to end cost was for the Kili trip, i.e. including essentially all the costs (basic ones likes the actual trip costs, and also all the other ones like vaccinations, equipment hire, tipping etc).

I was thinking that the rough total would be somewhere around £2,500?

Thanks

Colin

I would say thats a fair guess. I didnt go overboard in buying kit, and I only took £150 spending money with me, which was just about enough. TBH, I could have done it for less as I fell for the sales spiel in Blacks the outdoor shop and bought fancy fleeces, boots and thermals, when I could have spent much less. If money is tight, there is no reason why you cant buy a Tesco value fleece for a fiver rather than a £50 Berghaus one.

I hired a sleeping bag and down coat. The sleeping mats are worth hiring too....the ground in unenvent when camping and the hired mats are big thick foam things....I wasted £20 buying a self inflatable sleeping mat that wasnt much better than sleeping on a thin blanket!

Thanks for the advice much appreciated, I have booked the trip now, I think when it comes to trips like this you can't fous too much on the cost, can't wait!
