Mont Blanc

Hey,
I'm joining the trek on July 13th.
see you...

Hello! I am joinking July 6th.

Hello! I am joining the trip July 6th.

Anyone starting this trek on 20th July?

Hello, we are joining July 6th! Two of us :-)

I am very excited about this trip and have been trying to get in shape for it by hiking 2-3 times a week.

Hello, Maya! I look forward to meeting you. I am from the southern US.

Hi im on the Mont Blanc Highlights trip departing 20th July, anyone else on here on that one too?

I’m really looking forward to it, not really sure what to expect though...

Claire

Hi really looking forward to this trip.  Travelling from a hot Scotland 25 degrees woohoo!

hi Jan I’m one of the group of 5 booked for the 20th july. We are Claire Fran Chris Kathy and Debbie. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Claire, hello! I'm really looking forward to it, and meeting you all. Any idea how big the group is? Jan

Hi Claire & Co and Jan, I’m also on this trip and looking forward to meeting you all.

Guessing we are all on the same flight out of Heathrow?

When I booked I’m sure they said there was about 8 on the trip but that was about Feb March time so maybe more now...?

x

i phoned exodus yesterday and there are 10 of us 9 female and one male and our group of 5 is flying out of Heathrow. X

Crikey, that's a bit of a gender imbalance, but looking forward to meeting everyone.

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn the night before the flight, so that I can leave my car there for the duration. Anyone else doing the same?

Jan

sorry jan we’ve got a taxi booked from Essex at some ridiculous time in the middle of the night!!!!!

claire

Hi Ladies I’ll be making my way there on the morning of the flight. Let’s look out for each other at check in...

now starting to wonder about packing... must pack light ha ha

Claire

Pack light... hmm, I've just done the Coast to Coast walk and took far too many clothes, so let's see if I can get it right this time! Need to work out which bag I'm packing stuff in because I don't think we can use a suitcase.

Wow well done on the coast to coast Jan!

i did a hilly 5 hour walk yesterday but that’s the most I’ve done for this trip just haven’t had a lot of time...

i didn’t realise we couldn’t take a suitcase, is that right? just thought would be ok as we are staying in the same lodge the whole time and previous trips they‘ve sent a kit back if we were moving from place to place...

This is from the Exodus info:-

All luggage is transported between the hotels by a support vehicle (but not to your room). Please note that we must limit you to one item of luggage, weighing a maximum of 15kg per person to be carried in the support vehicle. Excess baggage can be left in the hotel store in Chamonix. You should pack your belongings in a sturdy kitbag or holdall; suitcases should not be used, as they cannot be packed easily in our support vehicle. On Swiss Air flights the baggage allowance is 20kg with a maximum of 2 bags per passenger, this will be confirmed on your tickets.

We won't be staying at the same place all the time, usually just one night, and they're going to transport our baggage between hotels so we just walk with a day sack. I'm thinking that I'll check my rucksack into the hold as well as my holdall, and it can contain all the walking gear ie holdall of 15kg and rucksack of 5kg equals the 20kg luggage allowance.

Hi jan and Claire three of us are Essex girls so hill training is always a problem!!! We have just done 3 days on the sw coast path near lynton in an effort to walk some hills! How was coast to coast??

claire

Have we got two Claire's?

The coast to Coast was good but hard, mainly because we had no rest days, so 12 days walking, but also because we had 4 very strong walkers in the group who tended to set the pace! They were all people I knew from my Ramblers group, so I did know what they'd be like.

Not done any of the south west coast path, but I've heard it's quite tough.

It would seem definitely 2 Claire’s!! SW coastal path is quite mixed and we have done most of it over several years but the north Devon coast from minehead through lynmoith and lynton to Hartland  point is probably the hilliest.

Morning ladies

Your coast walks sound good, will have to look into that.

it seems there are a couple different Mont Blanc trips going out on the same day... with suitcase confusion I called exodus yesterday and maybe we are in different trips!? I’m on the highlights trip that’s on a week And centre based so get to stay in the same chalet each night. Are you guys on the other longer one ?

claire

Hi Claire (Baker),

Yes I think we're getting muddled. I'm on the longer 14 day hotel trek. For some reason I didn't get notified of your last comment, sorry for the delay in replying!

We still might see you in the checking queue though - I'll be wearing very bright patterned trousers!
