Galapagos: In Darwin's Footsteps Nov 2018

Hello fellow travellers. My name is Sarah and I'm travelling alone on this trip. I've just started trawling through the massive list of what we need to bring and shaking the dust off my sleeping bag!

HI Sarah, I’m travelling solo too. Look forward to meeting you - and am amping up my walking!

Hiya,

I'm also travelling solo - on the 16th November trip (not sure if you are on the earlier 2nd November trip) Looking forward to it, though I'm sure to be woefully underprepared as usual!

Hi I'm also on the 16th departure. Have you seen that an October departure had to change the itinerary slightly due to volcanic activity? I rang upand was told that we would be informed if there are any changes for us.

Looks like you were right Sarah, as our schedule has been changed. I'm actually going a day earlier as all the spaces on the usual flight were gone, which is going to be a bit weird. Still, I'm flying with avianca, what could possibly go wrong!

HI, After advice from you past travellers as setting off on this trip at.the weekend. I see you had a volcanic activity warning which we so have and have been told sleeping bags no longer necessary. We have also been advised to use our Exodus bags as our main case for the plane. Does this sound ok? Also what do you advise for snorkelling. We have masks but not flippers or wetsuits but again advise from Exodus says a t shirt is fine for snorkelling. Also, walkimg boots or shoes? Not sure which to pack..Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

We did a long trek and didn't camp overnight, so didn't need sleeping bags.

Definitely recommend walking shoes, as it's pretty craggy in places. Boots probably not really needed.

For snorkeling I just brought my own mask, and either used the provided flippers or did without. This worked fine(the snorkeling is great!)

I also used a t-shirt for snorkeling. It was fine for me, though on the deep water snorkel I borrowed a wetsuit that was provided as part of the trip as the water was a bit cooler

Not sure what you mean by exodus bags? I just used my standard rucksack, with a smaller day bag.

Hope thathelps, and that you enjoy your trip. It's a good one!

Thank you. That's pretty much what we've done so reassuring. Currently in Miami awaiting next flight.
