    Truly wild and wonderful Botswana!

This is the trip of a lifetime. In the incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic hands of Sam you will see more wildlife than you can possibly imagine in 10 days – and close up. Sam is a mine of information on all things natural - we even had a night of star gazing – but more than that, he’s fun and very responsive to his guests’ needs and particular interests. The support team at the camp are fabulous too – nothing is too much trouble and the quality of food that chef manages to produce on an open fire is impressive. This is comfortable camping within the boundaries of the national parks and the cacophony of animal and bird noises throughout the night make it a true bush experience! We were blown away by the scenery as well as the wildlife and can’t recommend this trip highly enough.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Hard to pick, there were so many moments. Probably my favourite was just sitting still, quietly watching two majestic cheetahs sitting on a dead tree. And finally seeing a leopard, with a cub to boot.

What did you think of your group leader?

Awesome. He is totally in tune with his surroundings, and a really nice guy.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Be prepared for quite a variation in temperature. It can be quite cold first thing in the morning, then stinking hot by the middle of the day. And don't go without some decent binoculars!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Please can I be transported back there right now!

    Wild Botswana

If you harbour any doubts about this trip, cast them aside. It was a truly amazing experience from start to finish. Sam has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the birds and wild animals in Botswana and I am in awe of his spotting and tracking abilities. We had lions every day, mostly twice with every combination you could think of. There were wild dog, over 150 elephants passing within yards of our truck, leopard (one with cub and one without) cheetah - two just sitting there on a tree stump for over half an hour which I can’t believe Sam spotted from the road! The usual expectations didn’t disappoint either. We tracked a venue of vultures, expecting a kill but found a very sad sighting of a mother elephant guarding her dying tiny baby. Great respect was shown and it was a harsh, but defining moment of the trip, showing the reality of bush life. On a practical note, the camping support team couldn’t have been better. Hot showers every day, a different three course meal each evening (I don’t eat meat or dairy and had a specially prepared meal for both dinner and lunch - 5*) freshly baked bread and cakes. Every eventuality taken care of from ponchos and blankets to torches and toiletries. It’s one of the most fabulous trips we’ve ever done, but please don’t think it’s ever worth lying in, it’s not, get out there early and see the wonders. Just do it.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The leopard and cheetah, the dying baby elephant (which still makes me cry) the silence, the night sky, the serenity.

What did you think of your group leader?

He was amazing. I don’t think I’ve met any tour leader with the amount of knowledge he has about his country and it’s wildlife. He was lovely and made the tour so special.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don’t worry about the toilet! You also don’t need to pack as much as you think as most things are provided. Water bottles, torches, toiletries, ponchos, blankets on the truck. Do pack for cold weather depending on when you’re travelling - it was cold on a couple of days because of the rains being late, so definitely needed the fleece and socks!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

    Fabulous!

    Stunning wildlife trip

This is the best safari I have ever experienced, from start to finish it was like being in a David Attenborough documentary, I don't believe we could have seen much more. Every game drive we saw such an array of wildlife and the scenery was stunning. Apart from lions every day, four packs of wild dogs, leopards, hyenas, elephants, giraffes and antelope we identified 174 species of bird. In addition to the wildlife the whole camping experience really added to the trip for me, the facilities were amazing. Drinks around the camp fire talking about the day's experiences and being treated to delicious food was a delight every day. Lying in bed watching wildlife pass through the campsite was awesome. We were all so well looked after by the staff and I cannot praise them all highly enough, they were a delight and worked so hard.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

There were actually so many that it is difficult highlight one in particular. Every day we watched a story unfold. Wild dogs waking, greeting each other, setting off on a hunt and then following them. Sitting, watching a pride of 17 lions interacting before the sun forced them into the shade. Willing a young male to run faster as he was chased by a very large herd of buffalo. Seeing hyenas on a kill being intimidated by vultures as a cheeky jackal managed sneak a good meal. These are just a few of the memorable sightings.

What did you think of your group leader?

Sam was absolutely brilliant, he looked after us so well and ensured we saw the best that Botswana had to offer. His knowledge of wildlife was exceptional and every day he found us something to wonder at and always gave us time to sit and soak up the experience. He worked tirelessly to ensure we had the best experience we could and there was never a dull moment.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Take plenty of memory for photos. Binoculars are a must. Few clothes are required as there is time for washing

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Book and go, words don't come close to the experience.

    Wonderful Safari in Botswana

This was probably the best safari that I have been on and I have been on many. The guide Sam was superb and all the staff were excellent and attended to all our needs and more. The tents were excellent and all the facilities and food were better than I had anticipated. The game viewing was of the very highest, when are you likely to see 4 Leopards, 4 packs of Wild dogs Plus Honey Badgers and Civet in 10 days and also identify over 170 bird species.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    There were to many.

What did you think of your group leader?

As I have said above his skill at identifying game and birds was fantastic which of course made this trip outstanding.
