Exodus Porters on the Inca Trail

COVID relief for Inca Trail Porters

The Inca Trail Porter Project

With Peru currently on military lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the country’s decrease in tourism and temporary closure of businesses has made it increasingly difficult for many families to put food on their tables.

Paying our part of harnessing the power of travel to improve life in hard-to-reach places during this unprecedented time, Exodus have partnered with NGO, Medlife, who are currently focused on providing emergency relief for vulnerable communities impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

As a direct result of Peru’s lockdown, people there are seeing an increasing lack of access to medical services, financial difficulties and water shortages. With the help of Medlife, we’ve been able to provide emergency food parcels to the households of 100 porters and other staff members who have continuously worked hard to guide our clients along the iconic Inca Trail.

We hope that these food donations will help to address some of the immediate needs of impacted families, and we aim to keep in close contact with them and the charity to hear how their situations during this crisis continue to unfold.

If you would like to join us and support our destination communities like Peru, you can make a donation here or to our partner NGO, Medlife.  As always, we are grateful for and humbled by the ongoing generosity of our Exodus customers.
