Hi Roger, I'm booked on this trip too. Flying out on the Saturday though from Heathrow, are you too? I'm looking forward to the trip and just starting to sort out visas, vaccinations etc. I did an exodus trip years ago and it was really good fun so hoping this will be too.

Have you heard from any other fellow travellers?

Hi Lisa, Good to hear from you. No others have yet responded. I'm flying out from LHR on Saturday 12 October too. Have started with vaccinations - have now had 2 of the 3 rabies jabs, with 1 to go along with some normal boosters for other diseases! I get the impression that it's easier to get the visa for Zimbabwe on arrival but will be applying to the Mozambique embassy early September, when I'm in London. Look forward to meeting you in October. Roger.

I picked this up yesterday after handing in forms etc last week. It was really quick and easy. Planning to get Zimbabwe one on arrival - are you? Perhaps we could say hello at Heathrow so we have a friendly face when taking internal flight if that works for you? Would be nice to know someone on entry to Africa as I don't think our tour leader meets us until we come out at Victoria Falls. Hopefully some more of the group might login soon too. I'm just starting to buy a few extra bits and pieces now for the trip like a safari hat! All quite exciting as not that long now.

Glad Mozambique visa application easy - I'm going to London on Monday to get mine. I will also apply for the Zimbabwe visa on arrival. My last lot of vaccinations next Friday! Like you, I have been buying kit for holiday as well. Great to meet at LHR - we will be the travellers in the safari hats! Might put up a photo on my profile to make identification easier if I can find something suitable! Best wishes, Roger

I'm also on this trip travelling out of Heathrow on saturday the 12th. Although I have improved over the years am still trying to figure how to keep luggage to a minimum. I have friends who do similar with just carry on.........I wish! As regards introducing ourselves at Heathrow , sounds like a good idea to me. Penny

I seem to have a far bigger pile of clothes and kit to fit in my backpack than the size of the bag too! Are you both taking mainly dollars in cash as the exchange bureau didn't seem to think they could get Mozambican currency?

I've looked on the Heathrow website and there is a pub called the Bridge after you pass through security - shall we all aim to meet there around 5.30ish? Not that I'm planning a drinking session but it looks like a good place to meet. We will have to think of something to wear to identify ourselves other than safari hats! I'll try to figure out how to upload photo on here like Roger.

Hi Lisa/Penny, I've booked a coach from Southampton and expect to arrive at LHR at 18:25, so I don't expect to get through security until 1900 at the earliest. I checked departures for our flight and thought that it was from terminal 5 (although happy to be proved wrong). I must admit that I can't find a pub called the Bridge although there is a Wetherspoon's pub called The Crown Rivers near gates A1 - A7 (main terminal 5 NOT 5b or 5c), so I'm happy to meet at the entrance to the pub sometime between 1915 - 1930. I'm taking most of my currency in US Dollars, with a small amount of South African Rand and will exchange USD into the Metical when I cross the Mozambican border. My mobile is 07973 194378. Best wishes, Roger.

I stupidly thought that we might all be on the same flights! According to my Exodus itinerary, I'm booked on BA057 which departs LHR, Terminal 5, at 2120 & arrives at JNB 0905. I'm then on BA6283, which departs JNB, terminal B, at 1115 & arrives at VFA at 1255. On that basis, I'll meet Lisa at VFA!

Best wishes, Roger.

I thought I was on same group flight but they must have booked me in different one although I arrive similar time. Did you just get Mozambique visa in the end as I'm planning to get Zimbabwe on arrival at vfa. I gather there are seven of us booked on the trip so far: three solo travellers (presumably us three) and two couples. Penny, I suspect we might be sharing a tent if we're the only solo ladies!

Hi Lisa, I did get the Mozambique visa - paid £60 and got it in 90 minutes, which I thought a pretty good service! Like you, I'll get the Zimbabwe visa on arrival. If you are right about the seven travellers, it looks I'll have my own tent? All the best, Roger.

Looks like I am on the same flights as Roger departing Heathrow 21.20. Am hoping to book specific seat if not too expensive but at present am having trouble with the link. Hi Lisa, if you are right about the numbers you are probably right about us sharing.... look forward to meeting you. Any tips about malaria pills which are extortionate if obtained with prescription through my local chemist? Penny

Penny, I paid £3 for each Malarone tablet and bought 26! Best wishes, Roger.

The cheapest place on the highstreet is Superdrug @ £60 for 26 pills as opposed to Boots £120 for 26 pills........no contest!  Penny

Hiya guys, I'm looking into doing this trip same time next year so I'd love to hear about your experiences when you're all back. It sounds amazing! The only thing putting me off is the visas, has it been relatively hassle free for you all? Do you have to go to london to get them?
