Hi everyone,

My Dad and I have booked on to this trip as well.  We're doing Base Camp before we join this one - getting really excited!

Look forward to meeting you,

Fiona and David :)

Wow that will be a great combination  ( I am assuming ACB not EBC ?)  ..so when do you fly out .must be getting very close? You and your dad will be able to lead the group!

( Just had my "green" Exodus bag delivered ...seems to have got even smaller ...by the time the sleeping bag and Jacket are in there wont be much room left ....I seem to go thru this panic every time!)

Cheers

Dave ( must change my pic ..I did look like that but not for a few years! )

It's EBC that we're doing, and we're flying out on Nov 27th (tour starts Nov 30th).  We're coming from Australia, so we don't get the Exodus bag until we get to Kathmandu!  Hopefully we don't get too bad of a shock!

EBC is an amazing trek - enjoy. Namche Bazzar is a great place to stock up on hats and walking clothes. If you like flying the flight into Lukla is out of this world, for both views and technical flying skills.

I've just finished Panto so it time to get the green bag out and concentrate on getting packed and excited for the trip - day counting now

See you all soon

I did Base Camp trek last winter and it was jolly cold when the sun went down. I hired the sleeping bag as I did not have a 4 season one, and I needed it. You also need a woolly hat to keep your head warm at night. Some people took chocolate bars to save money, and 4 for a £1 in UK makes it worthwhile. Other folk took a few packet soups and chocolate drink powder, but you still get charged for a cup of hot water. Our Guide told us not to eat the meat in the little hotels, but most of us still came down with diarrhoea, so tablets are a must. The cleanliness of food preparation in the hotels must be to blame. As the hotels don't have enough staff to prepare food for the walking party the guides (we had four including the yak man) join in the preparation. On the subject of the green bag, these are strapped to the yaks, so you have to make sure you carry any breakables on your person. You will be allowed to leave your main bag in the Royal Singhi hotel, so you have a change of clothes etc. when you get back. The Royal Singhi does a massive help yourself breakfast, which is first class. There is a nearby cinema, which last xmas screened the Hobbit in English, so I think I may watch part 2 on the day we arrive to avoid missing it in cinemas. What else? If you want to save taxi fare the airport to hotel is quite walkable, and I've done it four times, and you get to see more of the outskirts. Money, if you think you will come back hold on to your Nepali money (keep it secret as you are not supposed to export it). Our guide took us to a recommended money changer, giving better deals than the hotel. Ah there is a little supermarket just across from the hotel. Finally a two day rafting trip is great fun so if anyone wants to join me after we get back...I'll be around for another week.
