Cross-country skiing in the Norwegian wilderness
Snow-sure and picturesque, the traditional Norwegian town of Venabu sees cross-country skiers returning for that ‘away from the crowds’ experience year after year. A short distance from Lillehammer, this stunning destination sits on the edge of the Rondane National Park, looking down on the Gudbransdalen Valley. The dramatic landscape ranges from spectacular gorges and snow-capped peaks to pretty fells and valleys that extend to the horizon.
Days consist of morning tuition, and afternoon there optional tours are offered for confident beginners or intermediates.
From 21st February until the end of the season, the more experienced skiers will be able to join 2 of the ski-safaris organised by the hotel. For any additional ski-safari customers will have to pay extra locally. These guided ski safari tours are entirely optional and comprise roughly 50% off-track skiing, covering 20-30km over 6-8hours, enabling you to reach more remote areas.
On Wednesday an optional snowshoeing activity is provided. Also free of charge.
