Choosing your trip

Different people want different things from their cycling holiday so it is really important that you understand how the trips work and then you can select the right holiday for you. In this section you can find everything you need to know about our group holidays (please see the Non-Group page for specific information on self-guided trips). Explained is information on our grading system, the types of bikes available to hire, accommodation, vehicle support, leaders, luggage, solo and premium departures. This information should cover most of your questions, however, if you are unclear about anything please call one of our experts. Moreover, on the individual trip pages you will find specific information relating to that trip and a link to the trip notes.

- Accommodation

Hotel Tartu, TartuWhether you are an experienced traveller or about to embark on your first adventure with us, you deserve a good night’s rest. Accommodation varies from 4-star hotels with pools, to wild camping on the Mongolian steppes. While luxury is not our aim, where possible we use comfortable tourist class accommodation.

Mongolian ger In more remote places like Tibet, conditions will be a little more basic. All our group holidays operate on a twin share basis, meaning that solo travellers do not have to pay a single supplement, if they are happy to share with another group member of the same sex. Single accommodation is available on almost all trips at a reasonable supplement. We also have a range of Premium departures and trips which have a higher standard of accommodation, please see the Premium tab for more information about this.

- Vehicle support

Support vehile and cycling groupOn the majority of our group cycling trips, a support vehicle accompanies the riders. These carry tools and spares, refreshments, your luggage and even (on occasion) yourself. If there is a high level of vehicle support you can confidently book a certain grade in the knowledge that there is back-up should you get tired. Equally this means that friends or couples of different fitness levels can still enjoy the same trip together.

- Leaders

Radu Man, UK Cycling leader A good leader makes the world of difference to the enjoyment of your holiday, so we make sure we select them carefully. Our leaders are always keen to share their local knowledge as well as keeping your bike running smoothly. In most cases you will have a cycling leader riding with the group, a driver of the support vehicle, and in some cases, there is a mechanic or second leader depending on the trip. The leaders will give you daily briefings about the rides ahead and keep everything running like clockwork.

- Luggage
Exodus kitbagYour luggage will always be transported for you, usually in the support vehicle, so you will never have to worry about it. During the day you will simply need to carry a water bottle and your essentials for the day – your camera, money, etc.
