Walking the Amalfi Coast

This was a great trip. The itinerary was well-balanced with plenty of walks and opportunities for sight-seeing. The accommodation was very good and the food outstanding. Our guide Paul was well organised and integrated well with the group which was made up of a mix of ages, solos, couples and relatives.

Imperial Cities and Cost

Accommodation : The hotel in Rabat was very bad. Disco all night, concerns with security, no atmosphere. Exodus prides itself of booking good hotels reflecting the culture of the country. Please ditch that hotel. Travelling : Not enough time in Meknes. A tour of Casablanca in the van would also have been good. Shops : Too much time taking us to shops

An amazing 2 weeks

We absolutely loved our trip! So much was crammed into the 2 weeks - be prepared for the long drives which are mentioned in the trip notes (we found some to be slightly longer than listed), but the travelling is a must if you are to fit in everything this trip has to offer. We loved the variety of places visited on the trip, with a good balance between Mayan ruins, colonial towns, lakes and beaches. The hotels were mostly very nice, the highlights were the hotel in the jungle in Palenque and the all inclusive hotel set on the beach in Tulum. The hotel in Belize was a bit of a disappointment.

Cuba, Rum and Music

This tour is a great way to see the majority of the island. From observation and conversations with other travellers it would be very difficult to do what we did on your own and within a comparable time frame. Public transport in Cuba is not easy or reliable. There are a lot of very long travel days and although it is wonderful seeing the daily life of the Cuban people, it is not the same as actually walking around and interacting. The food is a lot better and more interesting than expected. It was at times frustrating that the evening meal was always a group option, however alternate options for those who wanted something light or different had to find a restaurant themselves. It would be good if the group leader provided a few dining options for people to consider. Sometimes after spending all day in the bus all you wanted was a sandwich or a snack. The towns we visited and the hotels we stayed were interesting and varied. The staff in all the hotels we stayed in were helpful and friendly. The standard of the accommodation varied however was always in safe areas and comfortable. The local guides were really informative and their insight added to the our understanding of the history of where we were. Old Havana is just fantastic and some of the charm is that some of the streets have not been renovated, and that the local people work and live in the area as they have for decades. Staying A few days before or after the tour is really recommended. Just being in Havana is a highlight. At the moment it is clear that Cuba is on the brink of change. In some ways this is exciting however it would be very sad if the essence of Cuba was lost.

Exodus Response

We would like to thank Jennifer for her review. We were, however, sorry to learn that there was some confusion with regards to her Cuban Tourist Card; until recently our agreement with the Cuban consulate in London was to distribute the tourist cards to UK residents only, but we now have a supplier in Australia and can also provide cards to clients who book through agents. We regret that Jennifer was left disappointed at not being able to book an arrival transfer with us. Exodus can provide transfers to hotels other than the starting hotel, sometimes at an extra charge, but only to hotels booked through Exodus rather than independently.

Cycling Cuba

Perfect trip in almost every way. Beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, beautiful people (the Cubans, that is!). Good food and accommodation. Roads generally in much better condition than the guidebooks would have you believe. As an archetypal "urban cyclist" I found the cycling itself pretty demanding, unlike most of the others in the Group, who were "serious" cyclists (e.g. Lycra-wearing, clippies, personal saddles, etc). But fitness improved rapidly, and with brilliant support from (Cuban) Group Leader (Jose).

Exploring Gozo - Calypso's Isle

Great holiday to take in Feb to get away from wet cold UK. Easy walking with a beautiful coastline, hilltop villages and lots of churches to visit. The hotel was amazing, with cottage style rooms in the gardens, delicious food and a great Spa & Pool. The local bus stopped outside and we used the local buses to walk in different parts of the island, so convenient and very good value. We did all the suggested walks, we saw some beautiful views and the route notes were all excellent.

Walking the Amalfi Coast

I had an excellent week with walks which were not too long but included a great variety of scenery and a significant amount of effort both going up and going down all those steps! Each day was different, each day had highlights, hard to pick the best day, the worst day was when I had to fly home.
