Web Marketing Overview Meta
La Palma, nicknamed La Isla Bonita (the pretty Isle), is a relatively unheard of volcanic island in the western Canaries. For its small size it features a vast amount of diverse scenery, from dense cloud forest to volcanic landscapes with twisted rock formations and black sand beaches. This walking itinerary is designed to take advantage of the island's well waymarked paths. These start on the eastern side of La Palma, follow the coast to the north and then finally head south across the great Caldera which dominates the island.

  • La Palma enjoys a relatively balanced climate year round due to the trade winds that affect all of the Canary Islands. These winds from the north east carry moisture and can mean that two different sides of the island can be experiencing completely different weather patterns simultaneously. The winds provide a lovely natural cooling system which is perfect for hiking. However you should be prepared for rain at any time, La Palma is a lush, green island and the weather systems can be quite unpredictable. We offer this trip year round, but please be aware that there can be significant increases in temperature in July and August and this may lead to cancellation of some walking days if the weather is too hot. The best time to trek is from October to May, when the island is a little cooler.

Weather & seasonality

Fantastic walking across La Palma's dramatic volcanic terrain

All breakfasts and dinners included. Breakfasts are generally a simple buffet affair at your hotel, usually including a selection of bread, jam, pastries and cold meats and cheese. Lunches are not included. A packed lunch can be requested from the hotel (please request this the night before) or there are many nearby supermarkets and bakeries where you are able to pick up food for your journey. Supermarkets are generally closed on Sundays so please be prepared for this. Dinners are taken from a set menu at a local restaurant or at your hotel and offer a variety of mouthwatering local specialities and international cuisine. Wine is not included with dinner but the average price of a bottle is €12.
Activity level 4 - Moderate/Challenging 6 days point-to-point walking with luggage transfers. Average altitude is 800m, maximum is 2426m on day 6 (the Caldera de Taburiente walk). The walks on this trip vary between moderate and challenging and each day involves a fair amount of ascent and descent (for more details please see the daily itinerary). As this is a self-guided tour, there will be no group or tour leader and you can walk at your own pace. We do recommend that you take some time to rest and enjoy the views! The terrain and type of path will vary but many of them can be rocky and steep, especially on the gorge walks on days 4 and 5. Good quality walking boots and poles are highly recommended for the type of walking you will be doing. All of the paths walked are approved and monitored by the Federación Española de Montañismo and are well signed. The walks on days 2, 4 and 7 are classed as the more challenging walks of the trip. If necessary on days 2 and 4 it is possible to shorten the walks, this will be discussed with you on your arrival briefing. Although the walking can be steep we don't anticipate that vertigo suffers will struggle at any points, apart from on day 7 which involves a walk across the crater rim. However if this poses a problem an alternative shorter walk can be organised.

  • From late June to early October fair weather is to be expected, but all mountain ranges create their own weather patterns and the Alps are no exception. It can and does rain and especially on the high passes it can be surprisingly cold at times. Expected daytime temperatures are in the range of 15 to 25degC in the valleys (although it can sometimes reach 30degC in July/August), 5 to 15degC on the passes (though it will feel colder if wet and windy) and 5 to 15degC in the valleys at night; possibly a little lower early and late in the season. There is always the possibility of snow, even in August, and in September trips may find snow on the passes. Please note that on late season treks (September) the days are shorter and you will need to make early starts to make the most of the available daylight hours.

Enjoy self-guided walking on the classic circuit through France, Switzerland and Italy

Included in the trip are all breakfasts and 7 hotel/restaurant dinners. Evening meals are taken in the hotel in which you are staying or a nearby restaurant. For dinners not included expect to pay €20 for a good 3 course menu (not including drinks). Lunch prices can vary depending on whether you have a picnic or eat in a restaurant, but €15 is a good estimate for a sit down meal. You can order a packed lunch from the hotel in which you are staying when you check in. Typical Meals Continental Breakfast: Will normally include coffee, tea, hot chocolate, French bread, croissant and conserves. Evening meal: a first course of soup, salad or charcuterie, a main course of meat with one or two vegetables or rice or pasta, a dessert course. Beer, wine, bottled water, other drinks, coffee or tea are not included in the price of evening meals taken in restaurants. Vegetarians: Although vegetarianism is not common in this part of Europe and most meals are based on meat and fish there are no problems catering for vegetarians as long as they are prepared to be flexible. If you eat a vegan diet you should expect that the variety of food may be limited whilst on this trip. As this kind of diet is relatively uncommon in this region we cannot guarantee that the hotels and restaurants will provide meals that have the necessary variety to be considered satisfying when on a more restricted diet. Drinks: Please note that drinks are not included and you will be expected to pay directly for any wine/tea/coffee taken at dinner.
Activity level 4 - Moderate/Challenging 10 days walking; 2 days Moderate, 8 days Challenging Trekking the Tour du Mont Blanc is a wonderful experience and challenge. Many choose to enjoy this trek with a guided group and this offers numerous advantages. If you think you would prefer trekking within a group being led by a qualified and informative mountain leader Exodus run one and two week versions of the trip both camping and hotel based. Please see trip codes TWO, TWB and TWP. Some people prefer to trek independently, without the constraints of a group. Please consider carefully if this is for you. Although the TMB is a well trekked route please only book an self-guided trek if you are an experienced mountain walker and have trekked independently in challenging mountain terrain. Please consider if you have the skills to remain safe in bad weather, bad visibility, snow and snow covered paths, steep, loose or slippery ground, possibly all at the same time. Although comprehensive route notes and local information will be provided, we would still expect travelers on this trip to have good navigational and first aid skills and be able to find and understand a weather forecast for the region and assess the dangers. Finally please be aware that not everyone will speak English. It is your responsibility to assess your own abilities and choose if it is safe to trek on any given day. On bad weather days you may need to turn back and take public transport to the next hotel. We will provide suggestions for this in the route notes. The Tour du Mont Blanc has many variations and options and is not one set route. We have provided notes for what we believe is the best route. That said you may choose to follow variations and in which case our estimated timings and distances will no longer be valid. Most of the days are long, quite often involving an ascent of 900-1200m (3000-4000 feet), equivalent to 3 to 4 hours walking uphill, followed by a similar descent. Although the paths are well maintained there are sections that are rough underfoot. You need to be confident that your fitness will allow you to enjoyably walk at a consistent and steady pace allowing you to finish the day at a reasonable time. You will also enjoy the trek a great deal more if your fitness allows you to walk the route in relative ease. This trek is graded Activity level 4 - Moderate/Challenging as it has 2 easier moderate graded days and 8 challenging graded days. A Challenging graded day would be equivalent to walking up Scafell Pike or Ben Nevis and take between 3 to 5 hours of walking up hill and up to 9 hours in total depending on the pace. We recommend that you make a special effort to get in good physical condition for the trip. Walking hours stated are given as approximates only. Timings stated include lunch and photo stops and will vary depending on the pace of your group. We also recommend this as a family trip for children over 12. That said, although there are on some days options to take public transport, please consider carefully the fitness of you children before booking this trip. If you would like further advice please do ask a sales consultant.

No two mountain ranges are the same. Each offers its own environment, culture and and atmosphere. The Pyrenees are no different, and have been enthralling walkers with sky-scraping peaks, glistening lakes and a multitude of trails for many years. This new trip is based in the village of St Lary in the Aure Valley and explores the rugged ridges, peaks and passes of the region, including some sections of the famous GR10. The five daywalks are designed to show the best of the region while the evenings offer the chance to enjoy high mountain cuisine and of course a range of local wines.

Distinctive scenery and memorable walks in the beautiful Pyrenees

All breakfasts and 2 dinners are included. Breakfasts are continental and will include tea and coffee, cereals, juice, croissants, yoghurt, bread and jam. For lunch we recommend our group either buys provisions from the local minimarket, such as bread, cheese, cold meats etc or buy an ready made sandwich in the local boulangerie. A budget of around €6 per day is reasonable for this, not including drinks, though drinking water here is not expensive. The included dinners will be taken in the restaurant at our hotel, which serves mainly French cuisine, including local specialties. Please note that no drinks are included with dinner, but the hotel has a well stocked bar with a good range of regional wine. On other evenings you are free to try some of the tasty local cuisine in one of the nearby restaurants. There is a good range of restaurants in the village, including a creperie, a pizzeria and more traditional establishments serving fondue, cassoulet and other traditional cuisine. If you are a vegetarian or have any other special dietary requirements please advise us when you book.
This trip involves a series of five guided daywalks from our hotel in St Lary, in the Aure Valley. The walks are varied and designed to make the most of the surrounding peaks and impressive views. As such there are some short transfers to or from walks, to allow us to cover the most interesting and enjoyable routes. Of course, if on any day, you do not wish to go walking, you can relax at the hotel, or explore St Lary itself – an interesting Pyrenean town, regular host to the Tour de France, home to the spa facility Thermes de St Lary, as well as a small number of shops and facilities in the town. During the week there will be one free day where no walk is provided and the leader will suggest optional activities. Please note that a good level of fitness is required for this trip.We run this trip at two different grades, so please make sure you book the week that suits your ability. Please see the trip notes for further details of the challenging level walks.

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most dramatic and beautiful coastlines in Europe. Mountains rise steeply out of the Mediterranean far below and picturesque towns nestle neatly in isolated coves. This self-guided walking holiday sees you descend from your quiet base on the Agerola Plain, following mule tracks and old paths through hillside villages, lemon groves and beautiful deep gorges to towns with narrow streets, whitewashed buildings and fascinating churches, monasteries and cathedrals. Away from the trails there is plenty of time to partake in the traditional Amalfi pastimes of sampling incredible food and wine, as well as enjoying the Mediterranean climate. A highlight of the tour is one of the world's greatest walks, trekking on the 'Path of the Gods'. A visit to the Bay of Naples would not be complete without seeing the incredible Roman remains of Pompeii beneath the volcanic cone of Vesuvius.

  • Southern Italy, in common with a lot of the Mediterranean, possesses a hot, dry climate in summer and cooler but slightly damper spring and autumn periods. At coastal levels winters are mild and damp. Rainfall is most expected in winter months with an average of one day in three affected. Unseasonable cold spells are possible at any time of year, during which time you will need warm clothes, especially in Bomerano where evening temperatures can be lower than expected. It is very important to be equipped for cooler weather in early spring, late autumn and winter.

Independent walks on Italy's magnificent Amalfi Coast

All breakfasts, 4 packed lunches and all dinners are included. Breakfast: continental-style with a choice of cereal, bread, pastries, yoghurt, orange juice and milk with an array of teas/coffee. Lunch: usually a sandwich filled with a choice of cold meats, tuna or locally made cheeses. Dinner: all evening meals are taken in the hotel, where the standard is excellent, and are typically Italian. Meals usually consist of four courses, commencing with antipasti, followed by soup and/or pasta, a main meat dish with salad or vegetables and dessert. Vegetarian choices are always available. You may even be given the opportunity to learn how to make the famous Neapolitan pizza. (Drinks not included).
5 days optional centre-based walking with low altitude throughout. All walks take between 4 and 6 hours including lunch stops and require a moderate level of fitness. This is a self-guided tour, so you can walk at your own pace (we recommend taking plenty of time to rest and enjoy the views!). On some of the walks the terrain encountered is similar to the one you would find on a moderate walking trip, hence the Leisurely/Moderate grade. The terrain and type of path will vary from man made paved tracks, tarmac to forest trails. On a couple of days, there are considerable sections of steps (some of which can be avoided by taking the bus).

Our week starts in the ancient city of Athens, before heading towards three beautiful islands, Paros, Santorini and Naxos. Discover three idyllic Greek islands

All breakfasts included. For lunch and dinner we will go to different local tavernas and restaurants, where we can sample some typical Greek meze dishes, olives, fresh fish, vegetables. Typical buffet style Greek breakfast consists of bread/toast, butter, jam, fresh juice, milk, local yoghurt, eggs and honey, and coffee/tea.
This trip offers the chance to discover three wonderful islands and enjoy some gentle walks. Routes have been chosen to showcase the best of the natural and historical sites on each island. Terrain will include footpaths and mountain terrain, which can be rocky and loose in places, and sloped ascents and descents, so walking poles can be useful. There are 3 day walks in our itinerary and 2 half days exploring on foot; the walks are leisurely in grade, between 2 and 5 hours including lunch breaks, and require an average level of fitness. All walks are optional. Low altitude throughout. NB: Exodus also offers a moderate 8-day walking holiday on the island of Evia (Trip Code: TVE). On some dates it is possible to combine the two trips to make a fantastic 15-day itinerary. Ask a member of our sales team for details.

  • Summer weather patterns in the Rockies are typically very sunny and dry. Daytime temperatures in the mountains range from 15-30degC depending on elevation. Afternoon thunderstorms are common and don't usually last long, although can be severe at altitude. Nights can be cool, depending on elevation. However, a storm system might bring cold and rain (even snow at altitude) at any time. Be prepared to adapt to a wide range of temperatures through layered clothing. July and August are the height of the wildflower bloom. Tours scheduled for June and early July might encounter some snow on the higher trails in all three of the national parks that we visit.

Hiking exploration in a land of glaciers, geysers, wolves and bears.

All of the meals are included whilst camping. Your Tour Leader will coordinate local shopping and assist the group in preparing healthy, hearty breakfasts, picnic lunches and delicious dinners. The food whilst camping is wholesome and North American style: breakfast usually consists of continental style fruits, breads, cereal, coffee and juice. Lunch is picnic or buffet style, with sandwiches, pita bread, sliced meat, cheeses and fruit. For snacks there are cookies, health bars and other nibbles, and dinners are soup, salad, barbecued meat, rice and pasta dishes, vegetables and dessert. Occasionally, you will eat out in local restaurants. To help you budget for these meals on average hotel breakfasts cost from US$6-12, lunches from US$8-15 and dinners from US$13-30; this does not include alcoholic beverages. Wine costs approximately US$5 per glass and beer US$4 per bottle. Please be aware that a tip of approximately 15%-20% is added to group meals in North American restaurants. Applicable taxes will also be added to all listed menu prices. Please make sure we are aware of any special meal requirements before travelling.
This tour is operated in partnership with our sister company Grand American Adventures (GAA).. As such the departures are not exclusive to Exodus and groups may be a mixture of Exodus, Grand American Adventures, and other clients. This trip is booked through Exodus and you will receive the same award winning customer service that you are used to. GAA operate with the same core principles used by Exodus and champion the benefits of small group travel. This trip is for those wanting to explore the beautiful central mountains and wilderness areas of the USA, whilst learning about the region's remarkable wildlife and geology. It is suitable for both walkers and wildlife lovers due to the varied itinerary. Whilst most of the trip will be high, it's very unlikely that we'll go above an altitude of 3000m (usually 1800-2500m). You should be reasonably active to get the most out of this trip, however, most walks are optional so you may choose to participate in only some of them if you wish. Please note that particularly for early season departures, walks may need to be shortened due to avalanche risk or snow on the trails. Walks are mostly done on well maintained trails, although some sections might be affected by water damage or be a little exposed. Expect trails to be quite rocky - a walking pole for stability is recommended. The roads are mostly paved and in very good condition, but there are some long travelling days due to the huge distances covered. All journeys have regular stops built in to break up the distances and for any wildlife that we may spot from our vehicle, since most of the routes pass through fascinating scenery. We generally use campgrounds for more than one night at a time, allowing us a base from which to explore each area. Inevitably this means that in the morning we'll need to take a short drive to the start of our walking trail or to view wildlife or scenery. In Yellowstone, traffic is often held up by 'wildlife road jams' so you should be prepared for additional time in the minibus.

Hotels & Camping
11 nights participatory camping in two-person tents, plus 1 night hotel in en suite rooms (Flight Inclusive bookings only). We use 4-man tents for every two clients. The majority of camp grounds that we use are spacious, with good facilities including flush toilets and hot showers. Self-inflating sleeping mats and other communal camping equipment is provided but you'll need to bring your own sleeping bag (2/3 season) and be prepared to get involved with participatory camping! Participatory camping involves all group members taking responsibility for several campsite duties in order to ensure a smooth-running, quick and easy camp set up. You’ll be expected to erect and dismantle your own tent and help out with taking down/setting up the camp kitchen. Additionally there is shared responsibillity for helping to prepare meals and washing up afterwards. You’ll find that these activities are fun and involving, and create a good opportunity for group bonding. Setting up camp typically takes between 15-30 minutes. Campsites differ in terms of the facilities offered, with fixed campsites generally having flush toilets, tap water, and hot showers (often for a small fee of a few dollars - this is common in North America). If staying on wild campsites then we will be more reliant upon nature! Please note that not many campsites in North America allow advance reservations for groups, although this is normally not a problem, there is no guarantee that the group will stay at all of the planned campsites. Most campsites have a quiet time from 10pm to 7am. Please respect your fellow campers who are there to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of camping.

Web Marketing Overview Meta
Conan Doyle’s classic adventure novel was inspired by Venezuela’s ‘Lost World’, a region of dense jungle and rolling grassland dominated by immense sandstone table mountains known as tepuys. On a classic six-day trek we reach the summit of Mount Roraima, a maze of blackened rock and babbling streams harbouring unique plants including rare carnivorous species. We also visit Auyan Tepuy from which the highest waterfall in the world plunges almost 1000m - the spectacular Angel Falls.

  • Venezuela is a tropical country and you should be prepared mainly for very hot weather and some tropical downpours. For the majority of the trip it will generally be very humid, with a likelihood of rain at any time of the year. As we ascend Roraima, it will get steadily cooler, with an average night time temperature of around 15degC at the base camp and around 5degC at the summit, although during the day it is still hot and humid. Conditions remain constant during the June to December wet season, and although temperatures do not change dramatically year round there is less rain between January and May. Water levels in the Angel Falls and the surrounding rivers can be low in the dry season, and it is therefore not always possible to reach the falls by boat at this time of year.

Trek and camp at the top of Venezuela's Mount Roraima

As we will be camping and staying in simple accommodation for much of the trip, the choice of food is quite limited. Many meals served in the posadas will be from set menus rather than a la carte. Vegetarians can be catered for on the trip, but you should note that in much of Latin America meat is simply replaced with additional vegetables rather than with a specially prepared vegetarian dish. Please advise us at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements.
There are parts of the ascent and descent of Roraima where there are exposed sections in which your hands are needed to help you up: confident footwork is essential. It can be hot, humid and wet in this area of Venezuela and although the climb is not technically difficult, these conditions can make the going quite challenging in places. We travel to a remote part of Venezuela on this trip, and most of the towns that we pass through have limited facilities (except for Ciudad Bolivar). You should be prepared to stay in reasonably basic accommodation and also to spend one night in hammocks (in order to get close to Angel Falls). We reduce the driving distance covered on this trip by using internal flights chartered especially for the group - these are a highlight in themselves as they enable us to experience the savannah from the air!

Web Marketing Overview Meta
Walk in the footsteps of history, exploring the forests and peaks of America's oldest and most popular footpath, the Appalachian Trail, ideal for nature lovers and photographers alike. Our daywalks will reveal the best highlights of the region as we delve into the mountain ranges of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts. In Autumn, the pristine forests of New England transform into vivid hues of crimson and orange, whilst in contrast, the shores of Mount Desert Island remain rugged and wild. Acadia National Park is a real highlight, offering unsurpassable mountain, island and ocean vistas.

  • 9 nights participatory camping (plus 1 hotel night in Boston for Flight Inclusive bookings only)
  • 8 day walks of varying length and difficulty
  • Some long drives and remote locations
  • Altitude maximum 1605m, average 830m
  • All meals whilst camping
  • All accommodation (see below) Land Only bookings start on day 2 so the first night in New York isn't included
  • All transport and listed activities
  • Tour leader/driver throughout
  • Flights from London (if booking incl. flights)
  • All departures fall over the summer months, from May to October when we can expect the climate to be relatively mild by North American terms. In Boston and other lowland areas we should typically see highs ranging from 22 to 27degC, with lows of 14 to 19degC from June to September. At the beginning and end of the season, in May and October, temperatures tend to be slightly lower but still comfortable, with respective highs of 19 and 16degC, and lows of 10 and 8degC.
  • The weather in the mountains is renowned for its unpredictability, and in areas of a higher elevation including the White Mountains it will feel considerably cooler, and even in summer rain and strong wind is a possibility. From June to September we should expect highs of 8 to 12 and lows of 2 to 6degC are not uncommon. Again at the start and end of the season (May and October) it can get quite chilly, with temperatures little above freezing point (often not exceeding 3 to 5degC), and possibly reaching as low as -2 to 4degC so you should be prepared for this.

Walk America's oldest and most popular trail

All of the meals are included whilst camping. Your Tour Leader will coordinate local shopping and assist the group in preparing healthy, hearty breakfasts, picnic lunches and delicious dinners.
This tour is operated in partnership with our sister company Grand American Adventures (GAA), as such the group may be a mixture of Exodus and Grand American Adventure clients. This trip is booked through Exodus and you will receive the same award winning customer service that you are used to. GAA operate with the same core principles used by Exodus and champion the benefits of small group travel. This walking tour is designed for active adults and offers a well-paced mix of walks, all of which are day walks and are therefore optional. Whilst a number of the walks, such as the Hopper Trail, Lonesome Lake and Ocean Path hikes are suitable for all fitness levels, others require a good level of fitness suitable for those who are used to regular exercise. All walks are at low altitude. In order to get the most out of the holiday and have the best experience, those on participatory camping departures will be expected to get involved with camp chores including cooking, cleaning, pitching tents and tidying up.

Participatory Camping
9 nights participatory camping (plus 1 hotel night in Boston for Flight Inclusive bookings only).

Weather & seasonality

On hotel based tours, meals are not included and you will usually eat out in local restaurants. To help you budget for your meals on average hotel breakfasts cost from US$6-12, lunches from US$8-15 and dinners from US$13-30; this does not include alcoholic beverages. Wine costs approximately US$5 per glass and beer US$4 per bottle. Please also be aware that a tip of approximately 15%-20% is added to group meals in North American restaurants. Applicable taxes will also be added to all listed menu prices. Your Tour Leader may offer your group the option to operate a ‘lunch only’ food kitty, this has proven to be a popular alternative to three daily restaurant meals. Leaders will fully explain this option while on your tour, and the whole group will have to agree for this system to run. Please make sure we are aware of any special meal requirements before travelling.

Lodges
A number of departure dates for this tour are offered as lodge departures for those who prefer the comfort of a bed at night. Hotel accommodation will be in clean, comfortable hotels or lodges with en-suite bathroom facilities, chosen for their friendly atmosphere and proximity to the highlights of the region. You will be roomed with a fellow passenger of the same sex on a twin share basis (two people per room) unless you are travelling as a couple. There are no compulsory single supplements on our tours, however if you’d like your own space, you can request a single room for an additional fee.
