What did you think of your group leader?
Often and the rest of the crew looked after us really well and their organisational skills were so good that you didn’t even notice them. I felt I was particularly well-looked after as a vegetarian. I’m always grateful when people cater for me, but often find myself short of protein or eating bland, repetitive food. This simply wasn’t the case here and in fact the camp-cooked food I was given by the crew was better than anything I ate in the hotels or other places.
I would however like to echo the volumes of praise that I have already read about Often specifically. On this trip I got to take a hot air balloon over the Masai Mara, saw lion cubs eating a fresh kill, and tracked the gorillas in Rwanda; yet some of my fondest holiday memories relate to Often. He always seemed alert and cheerful, had what seemed like an astonishing ability to notice well-hidden wildlife, answered an incredibly large number of questions on a huge range of subjects and encouraged me to keep asking, was observant and responsive to the group, and made us laugh and smile on a daily basis. Often is the sort of tour leader that elevates an already wonderful trip to being truly amazing. I am immensely grateful to him.
