Victoria Falls in October (Zambia side)- How dry are the falls?

Hi

I have just booked to do Cape Town - Victorial Falls for next October thinking this was a good time to go as it's warmer and dryer. However, I have just read that the falls on the Zambia side at this time of year are barely more than a trickle.

Would appreciate any advise from anyone who has done this trip/ been to the falls around this time of year. Is it worth going then or should I consider changing the date to later in the year?

As far as I can see from the trip notes there is no opportunity to go over to the Zimbabwe side where they are flowing more freely.

thanks in advance

I did this trip late Sept/Oct 2006. Falls were less on the Zambia side - but considerably more than a trickle! It obviously depends, too, on what strength rains there have been earlier in the year. Some of our group easily crossed the bridge into Zimbabwe and took photos from that side, which were certainly more impressive. It's a wonderful journey and, even if the Falls are not in full spate (when I understand you can't see them for spray) just go and enjoy it. There are other highlights to make it all very worthwhile.

thanks. that's really useful - if we have the opportunity to go over to the Zimbabwe side that would be the best of both worlds to see them dry and also flowing

I'd be interested in what you think about this as i'm hoping to go same time next year and this has been my main consideration about what time to go.

Hi. The falls were extremely dry at this time of year so weren't particularly impressive. It was a great trip overall which I'd recommend though
