Hi Steve, I just booked myself on this last night, it's a new adventure for me going on a trekking holiday. Not entirely sure why exactly I have booked to walk up a great big mountain right in the middle of rainy season!!

Are you a solo traveller like me?

Looking forward to meeting everyone in less than 8 weeks :-))

Hello Steve, Look forward to meeting you.

It did occur to me that we are probably going to get rather wet on this trip.

Are you planning on getting the visa in advance? I plan to get one on arrival - hopefully that's a valid option!

Regards,

Steve.

I'm planning on doing the same as you, it seems by far the easiest way and the bumph says (somewhere!) that it's fine with a british passport.

How is your preparation going? Have you been doing any training? I've only booked this late on and haven't been for a decent walk in ages - I'm hopefully going to be able to get up to the Lakes for a couple of weekends or spare days to get some decent hill-walking in before I go. I've also been busy trying to beg, borrow & steal equipment from any of my friends!

Not much training here just a lot of running but it tends to be flat. Had Yellow fever jab this week and paid a huge amount of money for malaria tablets (really that was a shock) you can see why the third world can't afford them.

Did you get a kit bag delivered yet?

Regards,

Steve.

Yes, I got my kit bag. And been busy filling it! I've got my yellow fever jab this week, that's costing as much as the malaria tablets for me. I didn't even realise you had to pay for it!

I've been doing a bit of running recently too, did a half marathon last week. But as with you, all my running tends to be flat. I need to drive out of manchester to find hills (or I could do a long run..)

I'm wondering how many of us there's going to be. It hasn't gone down to 4 spaces remaining so it might be a small group braving the rain.

Hello Steve, I think you're right about the rain putting people off, never mind should be an interesting experience. I am still unable to find decent hills to practice on but have been setting the treadmill to full uphill and running in my lunchbreaks.

I will look out for you at Heathrow on the 18th,

Regards,

Steve.

Morning Gents

We have a grand total of 15 hardy soles braving the rainy season - although the last few days have had great weather!

My training has consisted a a few miles to the station and back 3 or 4 times a week (on foot or by bike) but getting out of London has been difficult.

Looking forward to it - see you next MOnday.

Hi there Jim! Good to hear there's some more fools out there! I feel fully prepared (erm)after walking up the highest mountain(!?) in England on Saturday, a beautiful weekend camping in the Lakes. I think that will surely have prepared me well for the altitude!

Getting very excited - think I'm going to pack tonight and check how much weight I've got.

See you all on Monday

A weekend in the Lakes would have been amazing - they are right up there as some of the most beautiful mountains anywhere.

The spare room is getting a few bits chuckked in at the minute, boots being dusted off (and waterproofed!), etc.

They are definitely beautiful, although I'm not sure they really quite make it to mountain stage, more big hills! Well I'm mostly packed, I will be setting off tonight on a roundabout route down to London. Hopefully I've remembered everything!

See you on Monday!
