Turkey in August - advice please!

Hello

I’m thinking of booking a place on the ‘Turquoise Coast’ walking trip from 31st August – 7th September.  Does anyone have any idea how hot it is likely to be at this time?  I’m pretty fair skinned and am a little worried that I’m just going to fry out there or struggle with the walking in the heat…any advice?!

Thanks a lot

Hi Ellie,

The hottest period is July-August, so you would be catching the tail end of it, as you would normally expect temperatures to start dropping through September. It will still be hot, however, high 20 to early 30s I would think. The walks are varied in terms of location and route, there are shaded sections and coastal walks can have a nice breeze, and there are always plenty of water breaks. Routes are designed to avoid being exposed to the sun too long. You will also have lunch breaks to avoid the hottest part of the day, and the guide constantly checks the forecast and can change the route if need be. The walks are usually only about 4 hours, plus breaks, and aren't challenging. The trip itself isn't a full-on walking trip, there's a mixture of visits, free time and walking.
My advice is that people who are reasonably fit and take the relevant precautions such as plenty of high factor sun cream, drinking water regularly and a sun hat tend not to have a problem.  It will be hot, but unless you typically really struggle with heat and sunshine you should be fine.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions

thanks

Tom
