Is anybody out there booked on this coming weekend's trip to the Omo Valley to see how sensible people who've never suffered the misery of the M25 or a British winter live!? Even better, has anyone already been to this part of the world and feel like passing on any tips of what to do/ look out for/ avoid or take on the trip?
Hope to hear from anyone with experience or Ethiopian enthusiasm for this wonderful country! I was last there 4 years ago trekking in the Simien Mountains and can't wait to go back.
Cheers, Bruce

My husband and I went on the Omo Valley trip that departed on 30 October 2010.  It was amazing, it was our first time in Ethiopia and will certainly be looking at going back.  It is not any easy trip and you need to have an open mind.  We prefered the camping to the very basic hotels which are not really geared up for tourists.  The food was much better than expected and we never went hungry.  The heat was a bit of a problem for a couple of days when it peaked at 45 C in the Omo Valley.  We all paid in to a kitty at the start of the trip which paid for our bottled water and entry to some of the villages, this was much easier than worrying where we were going to get our next supply of water. You dont need a lot of clothes there were boys at the campsite in Turmi that will wash your clothes for a very small payment.   We went with $600 between us and came back with half of that, most of our money went on paying for photo's.  Our team leader Gebre and the rest of the crew were fantastic and this certainly contributed to our enjoyment of the trip.  I have to say I am a little envious that you are heading off this weekend, have a great time.  Happy Travels
