Highlights of Northern India - Anyone else going on the 25th Nov departure?

Hi, is there anyone booked on the 25th November departure (not 26th Nov as shown by Exodus in their drop down menu for this post). This will be my second trip with Exodus, and second trip to India if you count Goa. Really looking forward to the trip, just hope it goes ahead as this is an extra departure.

Hi Paul - I've just booked to go on this date! I've done a few trips with Exodus before but this will be my first to India, really looking forward to it. They confirmed that it's definitely going ahead now as they've got enough people booked on it - anyone else coming?

That's great news. I've also just had a confirmation email from Exodus to say the trip is going ahead. I will have to think about visa and vacinations now, and try not to think about the Commonwealth Games village accommodation!

Hi! My husband and I have also just booked on this Northern India trip, departing 25th November. We've never been to India and have never travelled with Exodus before, so we're really excited! Looking forward to meeting you all soon. Best wishes, Ruth and Natxo Molins

Visa arrived in post today. Visited doctor last week to see what jabs needed updating - only needed a typhoid booster. It's all coming together nicely. Less than 6 weeks to go now!

We also have our visas and had our jabs this week - starting to get excited now! Having spoken to the Exodus rep. and having asked at the chemist, we were thinking not to bother with anti malaria tablets - what have you guys decided?

I've received mixed advice. It's all low risk where we are going but my doctor recommended I take the cheap one's that you take one tablet daily and one weekly. They cost about £18 for a 7 week course. I've taken them before without any problems.

The areas covered by the trip are considered very low risk for malaria, and the databases we use at work to give travel advice (travax and nathnac) state that the only precautions needed are bite avoidance, with no necessity to take medication. So, I probably won't bother with tablets (and I hope this isn't famous last words)! If you do want to be extra cautious, Paul's regime above is what you need. I'll check again this week and let you know if anything has changed!

I'm going to apply for my visa this week - have just had a long weekend in Germany so couldn't send my passport off before now! Only 5 weeks left to go - time has flown by...

Hi Hannah and Paul. Thanks for your feedback. In the end we've also decided to just get plenty of insect bite repellant, rather than take anti-malarials. Can't believe it's less than 5 weeks away now! - Starting to think about what we'll need to take. Still not sure how much warm clothing/summer clothing we'll need? Also, are you guys taking travel towels/pillow cases, as recommended?

I think I got the last place on this trip and now trying to sort out the visa application. Having read previous posts I won't bother with anti-malarials, just bite avoidance. Not researched temperatures yet but as its only a short trip will have plenty of room to pack some warm clothes, also travel towel and travel pillow.
