Hi all

It's Pete and Joanne here.  We're starting to get quite excited, as the trip is getting quite close now.  It's the first time we've done anything this adventurous, although we do a lot of walking in Wales, the Lakes and Scotland.

It'll be good to hear about any tips from those who have done this sort of thing before.

Cheers

Hi everyone  - this will also be my 3rd visit - my last time was in 2008 so it will be interesting to see if much has changed!!

I'm coming in on from Manchester so I'll see everyone at the get together:-)

As to tips - wet wipes are wonderful things and great when shower facilities aren't quite up to scratch!!  Other than that just take it steady - but they will tell you that.....bestari bestari.

Kathmandu is just mad and Pokhara is lovely and much more chilled.

Can't wait

This trip is indeed coming up quickly now, looking forward to meeting you all next weekend!

In the meantime, this is my first time in Nepal and I'm picking through my pile of gear to take - any tips with regard to weather and how quickly it changes during a day? The trip notes talk about the temperature getting cold at altitude but nothing terribly specific - is that 0deg cold or -20deg at the upper elevations? For a really cold hike I'd probably take a 35L day bag to accomodate extra clothing etc, but for warmer stuff maybe I could get away with something smaller - thoughts?  Any other gear tips would be appreciated as well..

 Cheers!
