Hi , I have finally booked this holiday to Croatia departing the 19th of May 2012. I am flying from Manchester airport and returning a day later from Dubrovnik due to flight timings.Any body else flying from up North?

I'm not on the group flight either, but still flying from Heathrow - wish I had thought of flying from up North, would have been much more convenient.  I'm getting in much later than everyone else, so apologies in advance to the person I'm sharing a room with - hopefully I won't wake you up!!

Dear Gezzy,

Thanks for being the first person to reply to my post - I have been checking constantly and had no replies so was delighted when today I acutally had someone respond!
I am flying from Manchester to Split with Jet 2  arriving at 18.55 and hoping to joing the second transfer from the airport that is picking up passengers fromthe Easy Jet Flight.

You mentioned in your email that you are from up North but taking a flight from Heathrow - but not a group flight - what time will you be arriving then? Is it with Croatian Airlines?

Take care

Hi Latha

I'm not getting in until 22.30 (Croatian Airlines), so I guess I'll miss the 2nd transfer as well.  Apparently it's only 20 mins or so from the airport, and you can get a bus - but I don't think I'll risk it and just jump in a taxi.  My nearest airport is Leeds/Bradford, which has direct flights to Dubrovnik, so I'm kicking myself for not thinking about this at least for the return flight - but never mind, I'll take it as all part of the holiday experience!!

I'm really looking forward to it now, I've never been to Croatia, and I've heard some really good things about it - have you been before?  What made you choose this holiday?

Best wishes, Geraldine

Hi there Geraldine,

Technical Leeds is closer but is easier to get to Manchester  - are you local to Leeds or Bradford? I realise now that I could have returned to Leeds but am actually chosen Manchester just in case I take the car - but find it easier/cheaper to catch the Transpenine express.

I have not been to Croatia before, I had just returned from the Exodus trip Discover Srilanka for solo travellers which was very good so I thought to see what other solo holidays they had that did not involve too much walking/hiking or anything strenous. I usually just pick the holiday I fancy and then look at availability and cost which is usually the rate determing factor. It seems to have got quite good reviews as well - so I thought for a week in the sun why not Croatia - also got some guide books from the library which make it look gogeous.

What made you decide to choose this?

take care

Hi Latha

I live in Leeds, but the train to Manchester is really good, with there's usually more choice and cheaper flights over there.  I've been on a couple of trips with Exodus before, but not for a while (the last was Jordan a couple of years ago), but never on the solo holidays.  And whilst I've always been on my own there's usually been a good mix of people anyway.

I've heard lots of good things about Croatia - I'm not much of a walker either (I've got a pair of old boots, and despite their age they look brand new ha ha!!), and the scenery looks very dramatic.  I'm particularly looking forward to the cafe culture, a glass of wine overlooking some picturesque bay, and hopefully no rain!!

Sri Lanka sounds fabulous, did you have a good time?

 Best wishes

I am from Wakefield so not a million miles away from wet Leeds- nice to hear from someone up north- so far a lot of Exodus holidays seems to attract more proportion of Southerners. I have also done a few normal exodus holidays which have been fine but thought I would see if solos had a different vibe.

Srilanka was a fantastic holiday - I even was motivated to write a review on the Exodus website. It was a good group of people and such a variety of things to do plus there was chill out time which I enjoyed thoroughly.

I am not such a big walker as such but do have all the gear including gaiters if needed. I can walk but do like to take in the scenery at the pace of a snail - but I get there in the end -eventually!

I keep checking out the weather forecast for Croatia and so far sun sun and more sun so looking good. This means I should start doing a wee bit more activity before i get overtaken by everyone else --

Take care

Latha

Hi Latha

I've been looking at the weather forecast too, and it looks a bit rainy!!  Hopefully it's all out of the way this week.  Are you taking your walking boots (and gaiters)?  It says in the trip notes that all walks are on paths - so I was just going to take my trainers

Hi there Geraldine,

I have just looked at the weather forecast - it is going to be wet -think i will be wearing trainers and may take a pair of walking shoes rather than walking boots - I am not taking gaiters as can't imagine us tramping in fields. It is disappointing about the weather forecast - will have to repack my suitcase again to have more wet weather gear !!

Hi.  Anyone here who's going on theHighlights of Turkey trip next Sunday?  My wife, Stephanie, and I live in the US and will not be flying in on the group flight.  We should make it to the hotel in Istanbul about the same time.  First time travelling with Exodus, and basically first time to Turkey.    Let's know if you're in this group.

Best wishes,

Lew
