Hi Andre, Good to hear from you.  This will be our first (and probably only) trip to Antarctica.  We would have loved to visit the Moreno Glacier as well, but it wasn't possible to get enough free time.  Look forward to seeing you photos though!

Hi Terri  & Partner, Hi Andre,

Alasdair and myself look forward to meeting you on Feb 7th - it will also probably be our only trip to Antartica but we are really looking forward to it. Andre enjoy the glacier trip - it is fantastic - if you can, do the mini cruise and get really fresh ice in your drink!!

Hi Andre, Alasdair and 'mwood' ......

Great to hear from you all.  Gosh, it's now only about 3 weeks before we leave for Antarctica!  John and I are considering our packing and I'm trying to fathom out what I can leave behind, given the weight allowances for the internal flight!  How are you all getting on?   We are both getting very excited now.

See you on the Ioffe, if not before.

Terri.

When I checked with Exodus they said (& so did the trip notes )that we were allowed 20K of baggage on internal flights (15 in the hold ) & 5 as hand baggage.

Does anyone know a good hotel in Buenos Aires fr a one night stop over on way back??

Hi Fergus

Good to hear from you.  Yes, the 15kg hold allowance is the issue here!  Our faithful suitcases, companions on many a long haul trip, weigh around 6kg each themselves, so we're looking out for more lightweight luggage, so that we can take more actual luggage!  The Flylite range looked good, but the sizes are either too small or too large, we reckon we need about 60 litre size.  Currently considering wheeled soft cases, which we understand weigh around 3 1/2kg each.

Look forward to meeting you on the Ioffe.   Hope someone can help with the hotel query.

Terri & John.

I'm also very much looking forward to going on this trip! I'm taking stuff out for other people as well, so will definitely be carrying more than 20kg. Doesn't it just mean that you have to pay for excess baggage though? I'm happy to pay something for taking more stuff.

Leonna and I are looking forward to meeting you all. We had a great trip to the Arctic a few years ago, and now are really looking forward to this one.

Luggage is not too much of a problem- we are not planning to dress up for dinner! But it would be good to know the penalty charges for being overweight (Leonna says 'luggage wise'!)

We have booked to stay in the Golf Tower Hotel in Buenos Aires- mainly because it is close to AEP airport which we can get to quickly for a few hours sleep, as we go on to Iguassu early next morning from Pistariani Airport.

I'm also very much looking foward to this trip. Booked it 15 months ago and with 2 weeks to go, it is finally feeling real! Already met Pete (also on this trip) accidentally on a jolly to Cologne - bizarre coincidence!

Not sure about luggage. I have 10kg of camera gear + laptop without my toothbrush so I guess I may be stung for some XS baggage. Having said that, unless the Argies are particularly strict, I have always managed to avoid XS baggage on internal flights in other countries as long as it doesn't look like you're lugging 20kg on your back!

Travelling with my mother (wife hates the cold and my daughter is a little young!) Her second time to Antarctica but first with Exodus. Last trip she got to see 2 blue whales!

Looking forward to meeting you on the Ioffe.

As has been said already not very long to go now - will possibly meet some of you at Heathrow if not - on the Ioffe.

Not able to personally recommend a hotel in BA  as we just asked Exodus to book us a few extra nights in BA at the end of the trip  - Hotel Layfayette is their suggestion.

Looking forward to meeting you all

Mary (& Alasdair)
