Hi guys,

Brendan from Exodus here, and I did the trip in June last year.

Accommodation - you have nice hotels in Ankara (just there one night) and in Goreme. The hotel in Goreme is only 10 minutes walk from the town centre, which is really handy if you want to stroll around town at night. When trekking, you're camping at organised campsites, with fairly limited facilities but there are hot/ cold showers and they're all in stunning sites. You stay in a village house on the last night, which was really nice. There were 2 rooms, couples, ladies and men, maybe 3/4 to a room. Very warm and comfortable and right in the heart of a local village, so we got to play with some of the local kids and meet some of the local people.

Weather - we had rain on the first day we started trekking, which made things a bit muddy on the way to the first camp, but after that it was blue skies and beautiful all the way. Temperatures were probably mid 20s, down to low teens in the evenings, so still quite pleasant. There's always a chance of rain in the mountains, so you need some warm gear and a good waterproof, but nothing to severe.

It's an amazing trip, and an area I knew very little about before I went. The Cappodocia part was nice, fairly gentle walking, but the real highlight was the Taurus mountains, which were amazing. We were lucky enough to meet some nomad familes who still travel through the valleys with their flocks but there is only a handful left and their way of life is fast disappearing.

All in all, I'd highly recommend it. Great trekking, nice weather, fascinating area and a chance to see an area that very few people have heard of, let alone been to.

Hope that helps!

Brendan, Exodus
