After plenty of adventures and excitement across the world, it's been the Middle East and Central Asia that Carl has been drawn to the most. Following the trails blazed years ago by the likes of Thesiger, Burton and Burnes, he's covered most of this region, or at least those parts that don't require you to convert or enlist. Since working at Exodus, it's been the Polar regions that have caught his attention and expeditions to both the Arctic and the Antarctic in the space of 12 months have given him a privileged look at both ends of the Earth.

After a childhood spent in foreign countries and the post university travelling, Jim ended up in travel almost by accident. Since then he has worked in a variety of travel positions and has discovered a love for Asia. Jim's passion started when he arrived in Mongolia after an epic journey on the Trans Siberian Railway. Since then he has travelled vast swathes of the continent and has a lot more planned for the future. His next stop will hopefully be Bhutan.

After a childhood spent picnicing in the car in the rain soaked beauty spots of Britain, Andrea went in search of sunshine. She found plenty of it, along with monsoons, floods, blizzards and a very small tornado. She has sampled the local beer in over 50 different countries and still hasn't decided which she likes best. Andrea has worked as a travel agent in New Zealand and as a tour leader in Indochina. She has spent her last few birthdays in places a exotic as Cook Islands, NZ, Serbia, Vietnam and watching a world cup football game in Germany. Travel is her drug and she's not ready to quit.

Fresh out of university in 1998, Kai decided to take a general office admin role at Exodus "for a year" to pad out his CV a bit before getting a "real" job. 11+ years later, he's still here, having caught the travel bug after hearing so much about all corners of the world from his colleagues. A love of South East Asia was cemented with a 3 month sabbatical there in 2006, followed by marriage to a Malaysian girl he met whilst holidaying in Thailand. His Scandivanian background also means Kai is as happy in the snow as he is in jungles and beaches. A belated honeymoon in Japan is up next.

OK, so you might not get an immediate answer if she is out on trek, but for anyone interested in talking to probably the UK's most experienced Himalayan leader, any advice from Valerie is definitely worth waiting for. Valerie shares her time between Nepal, Ladakh and her Wiltshire home, and she totals 24 consecutive years leading and managing in the Himalayas! She is constantly looking for new ideas and areas and has recently returned from our new Dolpo trip in Nepal, ran our first ever Snow Leopard Search in the harsh Ladakh winter, and has twice followed the frozen Zanskar river.

Arguably the best travelled man in Britain, Phil has notched up over 100 countries since joining Exodus sometime (he won't tell us exactly) in the 1980s. His 10 years driving Exodus Overland Expeditions around Asia, Africa and South America included 3 north-south traverses of Sudan and various visits to Afghanistan. Office work has slightly tamed the man, and interests now lean more towards trekking - Dolpo in Western Nepal; and biking - wine trails of France.

Paula's love of travel started when she went inter railing around Europe as a young student - whetting her appetite to explore new destinations and cultures. Over the years her travels have taken her to a diversity of amazing countries such as trekking some of the remotest parts of the Great Wall in China, camping out under the star-lit skies of the Western Desert in Egypt, being enchanted in mystical Tibet, and losing herself amongst the peaceful temples of Kyoto in Japan.

From Tansen in the west of Nepal, Niraj spent 10 years working as a tour leader in Nepal, Tibet, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and India before joining his family in the UK. The desire to stay within the travel circle brought Niraj to Exodus. Turning from an outdoor tour guide to a 9 to 5 office man was certainly a 'culture shock', but working with colleagues who share the same passion for adventure travel makes him feel right at home - pictures of the Himalayas on his desk also help! Niraj looks after the operations for all our Indian and Sri Lankan adventures.

Faced with that daunting moment of what to do after graduating University (with a degree in Ancient History), Rebecca decided to immediately book a flight to Peru and explore that big, bad world. Joanna's passion for travelling started at the early age. Graduating from family trips around Europe, she left her native Poland after high school to experience life in the US, furthering her education and travelling horizons. Some more years spent globetrotting around Australasia, South America and South East Asia finally brought her to Exodus, where she shares her passion for travel with all our clients, now specialising in looking after our clients travelling to China, Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan.

An impromptu gap year prior to university initially instilled a passion for travel in Charlotte. In her subsequent summers she continued her exploration, which led to a passion for discovering the world by bike. She has followed the Danube, cycled the rolling country-side of Western France and ascended the high passes of the famous Manali - Leh road in Ladakh. Her travels, and particularly her love of cycling, led her to seek a job in adventure travel, this brought her to Exodus where she has been fortunate to work in the Customer Operations team and is now using her knowledge in the Product team.

Growing up in a flat part of Ireland wasn't the most obvious starting point for a love of mountains and travel, but it's something which has been with Brendan since he first made it to Nepal 15 years ago. These days, he still tries to squeeze in a yearly trip to some corner of the globe but managing both the Customer Operations team and a young family (not at the same time) keep his hands pretty full!

A gap year that turned into several years of travelling throughout the world was when Emma first got her taste for trekking; firstly in Nepal on the Annapurna Circuit, but then across the Indian Himalaya, Africa and The Middle East. Nowadays, though based in the London office, Emma tries to get away on an annual trek. Every new route is a unique and always a fantastic experience!

Having promised herself a gap year after university Katherine hit the road on an overland truck from Kathmandu to Mumbai and fell in love with traveling, the experiences it gives and the opportunity to meet people you never normally would. Since that initial spark she has worked in and around the travel industry, in various roles and for various organisations, whilst still continuing to try and explore at least one new destination each year! She now works in the Product Department looking after a number of Asian destinations.
