FINNISH WILDERNESS WEEK

Amazing scenery, great activities and a good group of people from diverse backgrounds made for an interesting and very enjoyable week. Staff were extremely helpful and accomodating throughout and the facilities at Basecamp Oulanka were comfortable and fit for purpose.

CYCLE THE BACKROADS OF SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka is a beautiful and varied country, offering something for everyone. This trip provides a great introduction to these delights. The cycling can be tough on a couple of the days but this only increases the sense of achievement, and there's always the bus ( or train).

CHAMONIX SNOWSHOE

It was great to get away from it all into the snowy moutains and we were blessed with lots of blue skies. We felt in safe hands with our leader Emma, who chose our walks carefullly in relation to the conditions. She was also fun despite being under the weather (she got a colleague in to cover for her one day, who was also great). The hotel was comfy with excellent food (five courses on New Year's eve) in a pleasant French village Argentiere just outside Chamonix.

Tiger crossing the path, India

LAND OF THE TIGER

Disappointing as regards tiger sightings - I was one of the lucky ones but still saw only three, albeit all special encounters.  It is not a good time at present to visit tiger parks.  The new (controversial) regulations imposed by the Indian Government mean that the park authorities have been forced to cut the number of tourist jeeps permitted to enter and constrict the areas where they are allowed to drive and there are now no opportunities for additional game drives or elephant rides.

Being completely immersed in pristine rainforest, enveloped in silence and never quite knowing what you will encounter in the next few steps. Nice to have a small group (only 8). Travelled early December 2012.
