Sri Lankan Highlights

SRI LANKAN HIGHLIGHTS

5
Sri Lanka is a small country and it's possible to enjoy a variety of experiences and environments in a short time, weather and poor road conditions permitting. Our group was only 12 and everyone got along very well, so that made for an excellent fun Christmas holiday.

GORILLAS & MASAI MARA

Although the highlight for many was the gorilla trek, my reason for going on the trip was the wildebeste migration. Being amongst it on the ground was good, but seeing it from the air was even better. (I heartily recommend the hot air baloon trip. It is well worth the money.)

Atlas Panorama

ATLAS PANORAMA

This was my first ever organised walking trip and I was quite nervous at the thought of spending a whole week in the company of people I had never met, but it turned out to be rather fun - despite the extremely cold gite.  While I understand that it is difficult to gauge the mixed abilities of such large groups, I feel that, with the exception of the last day, the walks are a little too short and we spent quite an amount of time hanging around the freezing cold gite.

Cycle the Backroads of Sri Lanka

CYCLE THE BACKROADS OF SRI LANKA

5
Overall this was a fantastic trip, cycling through the backroads is a great way to discover the landscape, people, culture, animals and food of sri lanka. We had a couple of days cycling in the rain but it didn't seem to dampen the mood of the group, the hardest day on the road was cycling the long straight road to tissa. The two days we spent desending 2000 metres was so much fun and someone who loves tea it was great to visit a tea factory, everyday was different from the previous day.  I didn't really enjoy the safari, it was rather strange being stuck in a smelly traffic jam looking for a leopard, just on the rides you just saw so much wildlife, but watch out for the wild dogs most are passive but sometimes you might meet the odd nasty dog that wants to chase after you, there were two incidents were people in the group the fell of there bikes because of the dogs.

An absolutely once in a life time experience that I will never forget! From the arrival at the airport in Kilimanjaro, to the camp sites, to the cameraderie, to the final ascent, and to the nice, cold, refreshing Killimanjaro Beer in the hotel when it was all over!

MT ETNA SNOWSHOEING LONG WEEKEND

A stunning sequel of events from start to finish.  From lava-tubes, going beyond the Restricted Area (legally with 60 euros), trying snowshoeing for the first time as well as a historic event of a magnificant Etna with its family of newly former craters, it couldn't have gotten any better...AWESOME!
