A Himalayan Journey - Amritsar to Leh

A HIMALAYAN JOURNEY - AMRITSAR TO LEH

The first half of the trip is very busy with lots of travelling and giant passes to cross, the second half is much more sedate and more cultural. A well-balanced trip BUT not really sufficient time to acclimatise before hitting the really high altitudes. Would be better/easier/safer if there were an extra couple of days in the Kulu valley perhaps. Overall a great trip.

For a 65 year old like myself it was tough and fully desrving of its E category. It made trekking to Everest Base camp feel like a walk in the park.

Trins the Austrian Tyrol

TRINS: THE AUSTRIAN TYROL

Not the most enjoyable Austrian hiking holiday I have had. The C  grade hikes were more like B grade hikes when compared to other Exodus C's I have been on. The hotel was situated on a busy road which for me as a light sleeper was a bit of a nightmare- noise and traffic fumes, however the food was excellent. I think there is a better selection of hotels further down the valley and this would also give customers a chance to go out to a other bars etc in the evening. This seems to be a somewhat 'out of date' trip that is a hangover from perhaps another company that has been integrated into Exodus.

Exodus Response

We would like to thank Irene for her review. We agree that the walks on this tour are at the easier end of the Challenging scale, but we are confident that overall the challenging walks are correctly graded. Many Exodus staff members have stayed at the Hotel Wienerhof in Trins and we have always found it to be a great property for our groups. It is located on the main street of this traditional Tyrolean village, so we realise that there can be some noise from the road or the sound of church bells, but we usually find that clients really enjoy their stay in this charming village.

A very well organised and run tour in a country which has only recently opened up to tourists and in which facilities for tourists are still rudimentary.

This holiday would suit people who have done some mountain walking previously and are willing to fit in as part of a group for a week. A good variety of walks are included, with the option of an extra day unguided. Chalet Chocolat was an excellent base and the standard of food was very good with delicious meals to suit all tastes.

This was my first pre-organised trip and was well organised, a good guide (Hassan senior), excellent food, great weather, brilliant views and a magnificent group of people, who all made it to the summit!!!Thta combined with a good value-for-money price, made this memorable.
